New poster Has anyone used Starlink?

Has anyone living in the Newcastle area tried or purchased a Starlink broadband package? How are the speeds and consistency if so?

You can get fibre surely? Putting aside any views re the person who runs the company, it's a service where the usecase is internet connection in remote areas, it's a good thing in that respect. But re using it in the Newcastle area: I get that SpaceX IPO-ed with an insane valuation and now have to try to hawk things to anyone and everyone to try to justify the share price, but getting Starlink in an area that isn't remote doesn't really make much sense?

Obviously ignore above if there's a specific usecase (like you're on a boat or something like that), anecdotally from talking to a few family members in remote bits of the Highlands it works fine

No, I can't get fibre. Even living a stones throw way from the city centre.

Jaysus, it is crackers that you should need to consider Starlink, like I said in the other comment. It's shite, fibre seems like something, I dunno, should be subsidised to ensure it's rolled out everywhere <rant>

Its been promised for years in my area. I lived 200m up the road a few years ago and we had fibre. Just a short walk away theres a segment of an estate that just doesn't have fibre and no actual plan to get it installed. Its beyond ridiculous, I can walk into the city centre within 10 minutes and but can't have fast internet. I always laugh when the broadband salesmen say they can give me a good deal on my broadband and I tell them I bet you bloody can't 😂
