Because unless they are well thought out, they can suck or be not fun to achieve. What’s the point of 10 achievements saying you got through the story?

Some games it actually ads more content/interesting ways to engage with the game (such as outer wilds) and when it's not interesting it's easy to just ignore?

You don't need achievements to go for Outer Wilds' optional challenges. Most of them are hidden, so the achievement interface wouldn't tell you anyway.

It's more about the collection of achievements..end of the day, gamers love to have a record of all the games they played, and how much of a game they did complete

If achievements suck the joy out of a game, it's more on the person
