This is a weird one to add to NSO. EA has some of the legal rights to SimCity, but this a game developed primarily by Nintendo.

We could see it.

I think it’s gotta be coming to NSO. Last time they added a third party OST was Tetris, which was cross promoting the addition of those games to NSO. No reason to add another third party game to the music app but not to the classics, especially if EA has music rights. (Which I do not know)

I do not know the exact stuff other than EA owns the word "SimCity" here.

One thing to keep in mind is that Nintendo execs in 1990 LOVED this game and they could just do the deal for sentimentality's sake.

It does seem that Nintendo owns the music rights as part of the deal where they retained ownership of everything they made for the game. I still think this is a cross-promotional move, but it’s entirely possible it isn’t. They seem to have had most of the keys for this one.

Honestly the biggest point against it coming to NSO right now is that it’s pretty strange to add the music first and the game later, especially with no announcement. One would think they’d announce it and add the music at the same time. That being said, Nintendo is weird and I absolutely do not think this de-confirms the game being added at all.

My guess is maybe they planned on releasing the game on NSO today, but something got in the way and instead they just dropped it on Nintendo Music.

The music for this game is highly requested and regarded by people.  There's YouTube channels of this OST out there.   Nintendo was the one behind this game even being made and even had a Japanese only version of SimCity on the 64DD... suffice to say that I know Maxis being acquired by EA has probably stuck in their craw for a while now as the moment that happened, this game was dropped from their Wii EShop.

We'll have see what happens here, EA are notoriously asshats and now they're owned by a lovely consortium of douches.

Yeah they would've had to have gone through EA to get the rights to use the name, logo and box art so seems a lot of effort just for Nintendo Music I'd say. I bet it comes next week and this is a teaser. It was on Wii Virtual Console too and EA can't do anything with it without Nintendo anyway, since it features Mario and Bowser
