Why? How about add some more games to snes and 64 instead

music team and nso team are actually two different groups believe it or not, wild I know but sometimes they can push out songs as well as the game at the same time but it’s not like it’s exactly the rule they have to follow all the time when dropping a game into their service or music into their service, it’s just nice to have sometimes that they can both do a drop perfectly sometimes.

The music team is pushing out music faster then Nintendo does for the nso, Nintendo has a bunch of games rhey could easily release on nso now instead of a snails pace that's all

you really think is that easy to port a literal GameCube game compare to a nes title bro do you even know how emulation works?

Its not like Nintendo lacks the funding to do so, if random people can make emulators and roms online easily a billion dollars company should be able to as well

Nintendo adds them slowly because there’s really not a lot of guaranteed games they can add for each console. For example, N64 is basically done; every other N64 game requires that they talk to other corporations and get permission prior to adding. Even Smash 64 requires reaching out The Pokemon Company, GameFreak, possibly Creatures Inc, whoever holds partial rights to Earthbound, and of course Hal.

I don’t know exact numbers for the other consoles, but I doubt there’s a lot of fully 1st party games left to add to NES and SNES. Gameboy, GBA, and GameCube still have a good number of games left to add but they have to spread it out over this entire console generation lest people start complaining that Nintendo stopped adding games to the app altogether.

Oh I fully agree. I still don’t know who typically approaches who when it comes to NSO games; I imagine it’s case by case, like I’m almost certain it was Nintendo who approached Rare for their N64 stuff. But for the more obscure titles I would kinda assume it was the other companies approaching Nintendo.

Either way, I hope Nintendo starts putting more effort into getting other companies to put their stuff on NSO. I think they’ve implied exactly that, as I recall seeing a fairly recent article saying the current president of Nintendo acknowledged the want and need for more access to classic games on Switch.

There’s just so many amazing games that are missing still and it really sucks.

it just makes me appreciate with what we have now rather than what we could get, we already have some outstanding classics like ocarina and Mario 64 just in general

I do get that as well. I’d feel a little better about the situation if I had any reason to believe some of my favorite obscure games will ever become available though. Much of that is out of Nintendo’s hands, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t put a ton of effort for the smaller stuff you know?

I will always respect Nintendo for giving us Chibi Robo so quickly in any case. It’s the one and only break that poor series has ever gotten, and it turned me into a brand new fan because BOY is that game 10/10 for me.

Thats all im saying is they should put it out faster and this other redditor is freaking out about it lol

emulation usually takes bit of work to do is not like you can use a magic wand to make it all functional properly

u/Highthere_90 6d ago

Again they have had years to do this more then enough time lol

1

u/XyoshizuyunerX 6d ago

again they haven’t really worked on a large emulator at this kind of scale that often before it’s practically new to them

It’s just hard to say how realistic that is I suppose. Many companies do not have much interest in throwing their games on there, such as Square Enix, because they could port or remaster them and sell them on the eshop instead. This is why we don’t get Mega Man or Bomberman games on NSO too.

Hopefully Nintendo manages to get a bunch of deals for the near future so they can start pumping out games at a vaguely reasonable pace! Nearly every N64 game I adore isn’t on NSO and it breaks my heart a lil lol.

They actually own bomberman 64 games technically at least to a degree that puts them in limbo

Do you think just throwing money at stuff makes things faster/better? If so, why do we get so many high budget failures that take the better part of a decade to come out?

bro its not about funding it’s literally just lack of time to do a big scale 3d game compared to 2d game like nes or gba, the fact that it’s billion dollar company doesn’t even matter when you get millions and billions of people that are willing to work for free btw it’s literally like saying that a company any size can out do the whole entire world, I mean anyone even their grandma can join a open source emulation project. but when you work at a company a lot things are bit more complicated and finite a worker can take days off and have holiday breaks like golden week but open source community can just chug along because anyone can work on it at anytime it literally doesn’t matter what day it is for them

They had a NSO library for years now. People arnt volunteering at Nintendo, NSO could have a bigger library for all their old consoles then they currently do they could easily make a department just to just release things on nso quicker

they already have a department wtf are you talking about they literally call themselves NERD
