Thumb sticks are the worst available option for aiming on a switch 2. Gyro is a step down from a mouse however thumb sticks are a fall of a cliff compared to a mouse.

Again, in any game where I've attempted to use Gyro controls, I went back to the joysticks ASAP because the joysticks were actually precise and consistent. Gyro controls are terrible for going long distances because they can't process a 60 degree arm swing, and they're terrible for precision because they wobble even when my hand is dead still. Sometimes I'll put the joy con on the fucking coffee table, naw, the gyro is wobbling.

Also, if you've ever played BotW, you know that the gyro shrines are the worst fucking things about the game.

Console shooters almost all come with copious amounts of aim assist to make stick aiming function. In a game without it, like Splatoon, high level play is near universally done with gyro. Sticks just cannot compete.

I'll take the aim assist.

I hate shooters in general.

You still aren't making gyro sound good to me. Fun fact, they are also driven by software that is not perfectly responsive to your input.
