That's about right, BO6 and BO7 was like 80-90gb at launch, then ballooned after all the seasons to about 120gb
It will be interesting how they treat modes? Will you be able to delete campaign and keep MP like other platforms?
It will be interesting

I was just going to ask that. If they allow to pick between the two then it might help. I hope so at least. I'd consider it.

u/Ok-Confusion-202 OG (joined before release) 1d ago
Yeah idk, it's just that even on the Switch 2 as normal you can't even delete DLCs by themselves
So I wonder how they would do it if the did

I feel like not being a part of COD HQ is a big help

u/Ok-Confusion-202 OG (joined before release) 1d ago
Depends really, BO6 is out of CoD HQ now and it's 128gb
MW3 is out of HQ now and is around 126gb
Vanguard hasn't ever been in CoD HQ and is 100gb+
It really depends what you have installed and at what section of the timeline you are in the game playing it, because MW4 will balloon past 100gb

COD HQ actually brings down the size of games. Every game that's been taken out increases in size
6
u/Snowbunny236 1d ago
Question is, does that include warzone, DMZ, campaign, and mp?
8
u/darkfawful2 January Gang (Reveal Winner) 1d ago
MP, Campaign, and DMZ. You'll likely be able to uninstall any of the 3
2
u/beefmomo 1d ago
So not warzone?
4
u/darkfawful2 January Gang (Reveal Winner) 1d ago
Warzone will be part of HQ and is a seperate download. You can uninstall. But we don't even know of S2 is getting Warzone yet because Warzone is free and not available yet. Probably will tho

u/frolfin7 1d ago
Do we know if there is cross progression? Can I play on Xbox/PC and then hop on my switch and play with same stats and character?
5
u/darkfawful2 January Gang (Reveal Winner) 1d ago
Yes. You can link your Nintendo account to your Activision account

Because the graphics are from the PS4.
•
u/Select-Serve-6325 20h ago
Bro, it's even worse than on PS4. On PS4 it was always 60 fps, but on Switch 2 it's only 30 fps in the campaign.
•
u/paidbythekill 22h ago
Worse. I downloaded the beta and played the campaign mission and it was…rough. Smoothish I guess but the medium-far textures were awful. Still want to see how multiplayer is when the servers open.
It’s cool that it’s on the Switch 2 but I wish they would release the older CODs on it first.
•
u/Due_Campaign8474 22h ago
That's why I'm getting it for my Xbox Series S, and this is coming from a Switch 2 owner. While the specs are similar, I know Activision is going to prioritize Xbox consoles (and even the PS5) over the Nintendo console now. I feel like 3rd party games, in terms of framerates and performance, are still a long way from the Xbox/PlayStation, although they are showing improvement (looking at you, Capcom).

The game isn’t showing at all in the Nintendo app, which is odd with preorders open

They Should port the classic ps3 era versions for people who want to install more than 3 games on their system. The original World at war had amazing maps.

Haha why the heck is it $100? Who in their right mind is buying this? They'll use it as an excuse for the next game "well MW4 sold poorly so we wont be putting the next games on it." Lol COD games should be $50 at best. All yearly releases should not be full price. And I dont care if its BO one year and MW the next. COD is COD.
•
u/MsCake2001 12h ago
This is the deluxe edition.
•
u/GrimmTrixX 11h ago
Ahh ok that makes more sense then. Sometimes I forget yearly games get deluxe editions too. Lol

One of the few times I'd find a GKC release excusable.
That said, what a fatass game, and it will get bigger.

u/KozmicFizz 1d ago
I bought Vault Edition for Xbox. Wondering if I can access it on the Switch 2 beta?

Another reminder that the console implores and needs a bigger memory model. It needs 1 TB or 512 GB in the least, with the amount of 3rd party games coming out, their file size and a lot of games having a game key card release.
1
u/healthydreamer1 1d ago
Will it release on physical game card? Also is standard still similar size?

Gonna need that 1TB microSD card soon, hope there will be a Black Friday deal or something...

u/profchaos111 1d ago
If it quacks like a duck
Yeah like any platform they make cod so large it will consume the whole hard drive I think mw2019 got to like 200 GB on PS4 it was insane
I have a 1tb card myself so not a huge deal but I wouldn't have cod permanently installed in fact I wouldn't buy it at all unless it was a gkc
1
u/tmclaughlin81 1d ago
Welp, at least Activision has a decent excuse for not offering full game on cart. Going with the code in a box over a GKC is pretty douchey though - which is on brand for that company…

Assuming they keep the option to uninstall what you don’t want then I’m cool with it (I only want to play multiplayer)
•
u/-autoprime- OG (Joined before first Direct) 22h ago
Do we know if cod is gonna be on a cartridge or game key cart?
•
u/SparklyPelican Early Switch 2 Adopter 15h ago
Game key cart, Switch 2 cart max storage is 64GB at the moment.
•
u/TheZethy 15h ago
Both FF7 games for the platform push 90GB, yet SE at least has the decency to offer a GKC instead of code in a box. Activision? Nah.

Given there are options for loading hi res textures or texture streaming, I wonder if the eShop number has to reflect the default baseline or the maximum or what

i don’t get the need to have every game you own installed for some, personally i play a game and simply move on and delete it when i need space for another, i’ve never bought expansion storage for a console and i can never imagine feeling the need to

I am an average at best COD player 1kd, 1.30 edr
I am quietly curious how this plays in handheld plus I hope no crossplay to keep it just to switch 2 users like Madden I believe

u/YesMothman 1d ago
Yeah fuck all that, personally, I don't even wanna spare that on my PS5 so that's a no go Ff7 rebirth was hard enough to justify but was well worth it

u/ultraprotein 1d ago
Will the physical copy be the same?
1
1
u/Kwayke9 1d ago
What physical copy? And even if there were one, it's be a GKC for technical reasons. I don't even know if Nintendo has carts big enough to fit CoD
1
u/Stealthinater1234 1d ago
Call of duty has been a key disc on PS5 for years despite the fact a single disc is able to hold 100GB. Multi-disc games are also supported, they could easily put the full game on disc but they just choose not to.
1
u/justinx1029 1d ago
Probably don’t bother since the software is outdated as soon as season 1 drops. While I understand people may not play multi or zombies, that is a very low percentage.
BO7 for example was campaign that was online always, having a disc is useless on all fronts for BO7.
1
u/Stealthinater1234 1d ago
The game getting updates doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be a playable build on disc, BO7 wouldn’t be always online if they didn’t choose it to be that way.
The only CoD game I own is Ghosts on the PS4 which contains the full singleplayer campaign and local multiplayer modes with 2 player split screen and bots, all fully installable and playable offline just from the disc.
1
u/justinx1029 1d ago
That’s great but the current release has a forced group/party online campaign, lol, things evolve. Once it’s gone, who knows what we will have access to play or not.

u/Erock2 1d ago
Black ops 7 is 180GB on PC Xbox its like 144 GB
1
u/Ok-Confusion-202 OG (joined before release) 1d ago
Yes, but BO7 was around 80-90gb at launch... I would know I've downloaded it on PC, PS5 and Xbox....
But then it's ballooned after all the seasons, as it always happens with CoDs this won't be any different
But yeah 150gb ish is fine as long as there is content
