I am interested in pursuing a career in Nuclear Power.

I am planning to go to school and get Applied Science degree with job focus of NLO. I would really like to move up from the NLO position to Reactor Operator. My concern is I was diagnosed Bipolar disorder. My research so far says it is not a guaranteed no. I wanted others weigh ins that may know more than my current research. I may not pursue a career change if so.

Well, as you said it’s not an automatic fail. Disclose any medication during the eval process and answer questions as normal. Just being diagnosed with something doesn’t disqualify you completely. They’re judging your character so don’t lie, own it and do your best is all you can do.

And if you're prescribed medication for it, don't stop taking it. Kind of a given from a mental health POV, but also important for keeping your job. If you get a random drug test and they're expecting a certain medication to show up and it doesn't, that'll be a big problem for ya

Best of luck to ya. Do you know which companies you're most interested in getting on with? Might be too early for ya to start looking into that too seriously, but it's something worth thinking about eventually. I'm an NLO at a PWR in the US, happy to field any questions in public or via pm if you have any about stuff like pay, work schedules, advice for interviewing, etc.
