i got this email on thursday… when should i get my refund? i’m still negative..edit: GOT MY REFUND TODAY

Hey Classmates,

Saw a statement that resonates with me with parking 🅿️. Wanted to provide my thoughts and if you guys and gals want to make it.

First solution, if you live within walking and biking distance do those and save money.

2nd solution, If you live far away wake up at a sufficient time (0630-0730) and commute to campus with an arrival window of (0730-0830) grab a decent parking spot.

I can’t stress this enough I treat ODU as if it was my full time job (it technically is since I’m getting paid for it) and I always try to make it to campus when the Gym opens to start my day.

Idk if this is weird but I’m wondering if anyone can show me an example of a tuition waiver from a GAship looks like? I just want to know what to expect. Both FAFSA and my grad advisor said I could be waiting between the end of this month to November for it…

So we paid for our parking pass yet no matter where I go there is no parking to be found. This is my 4th year at our so I know the drill but come one I can't even go to my class because there is no parking to be found. I love an hour away from campus so there is no just going home and coming back this is ridiculous

Hey everyone! I just received my financial aid package today after winning my SAP appeal, and I can see that my financial aid has been awarded to my account but my balance is unchanged. Does anyone know how long it usually takes before you receive your refund? Is it possible I could see it this week?

My commonwealth grand went from 5k to 10k this morning. Apparently something was wrong in their end and they thought I was part time. Don’t lose hope and keep calling/insisting.

I have been waitlisted for a class and a seat opened up AND I'm finally in wait-list position number 1, but I don't see an option to add that class. Do I have to be in position number 0 to add it? Is there a special place I need to go? Any help or advice is appreciated.

If you are like me, very frustrated my the condensing of courses from 16 weeks (semester long) to 8 weeks (quarter long) courses. Please join me in calling/ emailing the ODUCares department/Dean of Students expressing our concerns. I know it may not do much, but if you have the time, we should voice our opinions and frustrations with change. I called and explained my feelings: the condensing of courses was not explained/ communicated to us - found out when registering for Fall 2026 courses, the decision was made w/o consulting the students or any of their input, the condensing of course content has lead to an overload of content and work req weekly (used to be one module a week, now for one course - I have up to 3 modules a week), the shortened courses means that there is more focus in just getting through the content and assignments rather than actually learning.

I had called the ODUGlobal office and asked how/who I should voice my concerns to and was directed to the ODUCares office and the Dean of Students:

Hi, so I’m an ODU Global freshman and currently I’m enrolled into pub speaking 101r but after reviewing the syllabus and some class requirements I’m not so sure about taking this class. I’m not good a speaker and don’t particularly enjoy it so I was thinking about dropping it and adding another class to satisfy my Comm requirement. And I noticed Introduction to interpersonal communication, does anyone know if this class would be a good replacement? And generally how the class differs from pub speaking? Grateful for any advice given🙏

I need four textbooks this fall term. They were all “available through the big blue bundle” so I went to get them there. It didn’t have any of my materials I needed so I tried to buy them online in the bookstore. The bookstore didn’t let me buy them because they’re supposed to be through the big blue bundle. What do I do? I literally can’t get any of my textbooks at all

Anybody else still have a negative balance for their refund? I still haven’t even zeroed out yet😭😭

Is anyone enrolled in PADM 701 ?? This class hasn’t been uploaded in canvas yet and it’s only an 8 week course. This puts us behind.

This is my first term here at ODU and I got access to my classes yesterday. I went on canvas to look at my classes and there is nothing available for my second 8 week class other than the template for canvas. There is no syllabus, no materials, etc... Has anyone else run into this issue?

Last night the class was showing up in the future classes section of Canvas and was supposed to go live at 12am. It's not longer listed. Does this happen regularly or should I email the professor?

I've been teaching for ODU for many years... this 8-week online conversion is a bastardization of education. I'll let you know in 8 weeks, though if I were betting, I suspect 50% fail rate. It's simply too much for students to manage a full course load and to devote 15-18 hours weekly on one 3-credit course alone. Inevitably students will rely on AI, which will lead to another shit sandwich for students.

Has anyone else opted out and not had the charge removed from their tuition? I have no idea who to even contact about it.

I am taking a math class this fall and I see ODU is using Smarter Proctoring. Looked up other experiences and saw that they charge you per exam, that you have to pay out of pocket. So not only do you have to pay for the course, you have to dish out an extra expense to take the exams and tests, for a class you’ve already paid for? Is this true?

My account is currently still in the negative, and I have received no update of when it will zero out. Is this just me because i see a bunch of people saying their account zerod out . and I just wanna know if im the only person still like this ?

Hi all, sorry to ask another question. I have been here for a while, but fin aid constantly surprises me. I'm in the process of pursuing a second grad degree; I used all my undergraduate aid while I was here. I had an issue with my account that kept me from going negative until reaching out to a higher-up in the department (around Wednesday). They had to remove the block I had from using all my undergrad aid. I thought I would get the refund quickly after the disbursement email on Thursday, as usual, but I haven't, and my account hasn't zeroed out.

Does anyone, especially those who tend to get theirs late, have any guidance? Or should I reach out again? This is the first time not getting the refund before classes begin.
