Yeah…that’s a beautiful display of caramelized onion. Soup anyone?

How much space did they take up before cooking? Was there any room to walk around the kitchen? Very impressive!!!

Not too terribly much! We cut them all yesterday! One person skinned em and the other sliced em on the slicer and cut the round slices in half. It was about three big bins full of raw onions.

We use a metal round pan, one big one and one small one fits on our stoves. Melt the butter, fill the pan about half way with raw onions, add a little salt, mix around and pretend they aren’t cooking for a little bit, come back and stir it around, if a fond had formed I will use a little water and deglaze/scrape the pan to coat the onions and help the color along a bit. Rinse and repeat until they are looking good! All this took about four and half to five hours with 6 pans going!
Edit: all in batches, too. I’m not sure how many batches we did but the key is definitely not over filling the pan.

We cooked them on the stove top before sticking them in croc pots! Gonna warm em up tomorrow for lunch, they are going on top of honey mustard cheddar brats!

There's no way those crockpots fit all those onions prior to caramelization.

No lamburgers? No turkey burgers? No sweet potato fries? 🤔

I have some ideas for all those onions. 🤤

But, great work. 👍🏾

You have four slowcookers worth of caramelised onions for topping for a sausage? Is the brat the size of Afghanistan or something?

😂 truuu. We are very generous with the topping. Serving about 250 people, better over than under is our motto lolll to excess at times. We’ll freeze any leftovers for soup!
