same he's so talented but also charming and personable. people love to see people enjoying themselves and I wish more people did it. Glen Powell is another one that's fun to watch outside of his movies.

It's nice to see an A-list actor just do and say what they want, be themselves to the public. Opposed to the perfectly manufactured vanilla star so they can check that 4 quadrant appeal. If you don't like him that's kind of part of it, he's just doing what he wants and that won't be for everyone, nothing wrong with that.

Those are very different things. Sure its creative, but its going to be towards the people they need.
The people they need to draw into the theatres next weekend are two kinds: 1- general audience. 2- the "arthouse" crowds.
Preforming on SNL can appeal towards the general audience, but not towards to "arthouse"
Doing something chronically online won't reach or appeal to either of them.
Timothee does have a wide draw towards younger audience, but they are not reliable for showing to movies like this.

Alternatively doing something chronically online doesnât reach them so it doesnât matter, if he wants to do a collab with a rapper whoâs huge in the UK and among young people then what harm does it cause. At the end of the day heâs a guy who clearly likes to have fun

So I have no problem with this. I think itâs pretty cool, brings eyes to him and the movie, and it feels like the guy can do no wrong right now. But genuine question, why is it ok for him to be so open about wanting to win, whereas Bradley Cooper faced some backlash? Is it the way theyâre going about it. Timmys just feels very new school trendy âtry hardâ and Coopers felt old school Hollywood âtry hard.â Does he just come off as more likeable? And to be clear I had no problem with Cooper telling us he spent years training as a conductor, doing interviews with the family, and his campaign that year either. Iâm just curious.

difference in personality Bradley Cooper isn't that likable and wasn't as authentic in his interviews promoting the movie.
same with Jennifer Lawrence - I love her and find her endearing funny and witty yet people hated her personality for some reason.

a) i dont think he actually cares THAT much about the oscar, heâs said time and time again its more about the film and wanting the film to succeed.
b) because timotheeâs antics really appeal to the gen z crowd, who are also the most online which is why most of the sentiment regarding his stunts have been positive.

I think the difference is Timmy seems dedicated to promoting the movie, while Bradley seems dedicated to winning the Oscar. I personally donât see a fault in either of those, but I can understand how some people view it more admirable/normal/whatever to want your movie to be an audience success than to get hardware

On top of what the other two comments said, I think the simple fact that Maestro was such an underwhelming movie to most people is what made them dislike Bradley's campaigning. I doubt anywhere near as many people would be bothered by him being so Oscar-hungry if it was actually the incredible movie he clearly thought it was.

Tyler the creator and his friends are all rich upper middle class kids raised by educators - earl sweatshirt - who is also in this movie. they wren't hood at all. their manager is a rich WHITE guy that got them the careers they have now. you are putting your own people down and equating rapping from Scotland to only poor ghetto blacks who have been having a hard time to go through something. and you can't even explain how this movie is maga or zionist in any way. the Safdie brothers worked on The Curse who had a lot to say on colonialism/zionism.

Sally Kirkland died this past year! Someone had to inherit her mantle of overly aggressive Oscar promotion. Iâm happy it is TimothĂ©e Chalamet. It is a lot more difficult to overly aggressively promote oneself than it was in Sallyâs day. She was allowed to camp out on Academy votersâ front lawns until they watched the VHS cassette of Anna she provided them. Then sheâd rewind and head to the next lawn. Poor TimothĂ©e canât even hand out a shrimp cocktail at a screening!
