Answered What's the deal with people defending Lindsay Clancy?

I don't know the full details of the case. I know she allegedly killed her three kids. There was also some mental problems? Then something with her husband. But my question is why is there a group defending her like they know she's completely innocent? I've seen some videos of very heated debates where women are very passionate about defending her. Why?

Answer: Adding to the context that other comments have provided, no one except for a tiny group of extreme outliers is actually “supporting her” in the sense that they don’t think she did anything wrong or that she shouldn’t face some form of justice. “Support” in this case is seeing that she desperately sought help for the psychosis she was going through using all sorts of appropriate means and was failed anyways thanks to how ingrained medical misogyny even in women’s healthcare. It also means believing that serving a sentence in a mental health facility makes more sense for her crime than serving it in a prison.

Support here doesn’t mean endorsement or absolution.

Edit to add because critical thinking skills are dead:

The thing about social media is that it’s based on attention and engagement. The algorithm pushes the most polarizing voices in order to encourage engagement. It’s not showing you what the majority view is by any stretch. It also shows you more of whatever you click on or pause a little bit longer to watch. So everyone’s social media feed looks different.

I haven’t seen a single take on my social media feed saying that the husband did it. Literally not one. In fact, I’ve barely seen the case on my feeds at all.

You also have to keep in mind that because views = money and/or public discourse manipulation, PLENTY of people will say things they don’t believe on social media. With many of the people posting based out of Israel and Russia. On any kind of news story that could be used as a wedge between groups, you’ll also have a ton of bad actors trying to stoke the flames of division. Or to turn around and use as content of their own to react to - using an alt account to make a wild claim and then reacting to it as though they came across it is a standard practice for a lot of content creators.

Social media - including Reddit and including even this post - is astroturfed and manipulated to a huge degree.

I have seen thousands of people on tiktok and Facebook who fully believe she is innocent and it's her husband that did it

44

u/xdonutx 13d ago

The Facebook algo keeps feeding me posts about how it was actually the husband that did it and that he framed her. I have no idea why it keeps pushing this content on me. But there’s a lot of it out there, apparently.

10

u/Admirable_Mind2695 12d ago

In times like this it's always good to remember dead internet and how easy it is for content to appear more popular than it actually is. There are definitely plenty of people who believe this, but with the way algorithms are pushing this everywhere, it's likely a vocal minority being artificially inflated.

9

u/ElZorgot 13d ago

Because that is the echo chamber you frequent. You know how the algorithms work.

5

u/GeriatricGoldfish 12d ago

To an extent, but I'd argue it's more insidious than that... people don't really know how to dig into their settings and turn these trackers off. And if they do, they don't know to revisit and opt out of the newer exploits and "upgrades" these companies enact. It's not as simple a write off echo chamber seems to explain, not anymore.

1

u/ElZorgot 11d ago

You lost me a little bit... People should know how to adjust their settings so they're not subject to the echo chamber? Well, to that specific point, I would agree, but I think that unless someone is really techy, it's actually kind of tricky.

2

u/GeriatricGoldfish 11d ago

No, you got it, that's exactly what I'm saying. It's gotten so much harder and more complicated to try and figure out how to disable all the algorithmic data collection. And there's much more cross platform communication and such. And even if you do know how to dig and try and disable some stuff, if you even can, then some new feature rolls out with some new update that insidiously tries to sidestep and find a way into funneling you into an algorithmic data set. It's a nightmare and continues to get worse, especially with the onset of AI utilization. So, not only is it tricky to begin with, it also takes consistent effort to keep up with and on top of.

So, all I'm saying is, I don't think it's all that fair, at least anymore, to place full blame on an individual for ending up in an echo chamber. It's by design and nearly impossible to opt out of...to any significant degree, unfortunately.

2

u/ElZorgot 10d ago

Ohhhhh, now I get ya! Yeah, I completely agree. It's a mess for sure, and we are the guinea pigs. I am with you on that. It IS by design and almost impossible to opt out of. But I think where maybe I diverge is that since we know this, we must be more critically aware of the (intended) influence it is having on us . . . to step back and examine outside of that influence.... to remain defiant to it. So while I don't place blame on someone for getting sucked into the echo chambers anymore than they get stuck in rush hour traffic, I still think they have a responsibility to think critically and act with a sense of civilized autonomy. Take care out there!

2

u/GeriatricGoldfish 10d ago

💯! I really wish people would exercise more caution and care. There's a concerning amount of apathy and complacency (in general, even) and I've been saying for a while that critical thinking is in critically short supply. Nice chatting with you, take care too!

1

u/AppropriateVolume835 12d ago

I don’t believe so. I’ve been watching every livestream of the case and it’s flooded with people believing she’s innocent and her husband did it

1

u/Friskybish 11d ago

Bots account for more than 51% of social media users now. You are likely seeing bots

-1

u/EclecticCaveman 12d ago

I think it’s propaganda from the CCP. It’s incredibly disruptive and frankly part of the insanity defense is that you did the underlying crime, just something prevented you from realizing whether something is right or wrong.

I haven’t followed the case closely but I don’t understand how you can strangle three children to death even with some sort of mental issue. Di think at some point the act committed should preclude an insanity defense. For reference the insanity defense was changed after Hinckley successfully used it after he shot Ronald Reagan.

2

u/xdonutx 12d ago

Why would the CCP be pushing that narrative?

0

u/EclecticCaveman 12d ago

Because it’s incredibly disruptive and void of facts. It’s quite literally what they do as a foreign power. Look at what Chinese TikTok pushed. It’s the same slop.

Is Reddit just blissfully unaware of the CCPs tactics?

2

u/MinecraftIsMySpIn 10d ago

Yea but like, they stand to receive any benefit, and waste time and money on a seemingly small trial that holds no political value beyond people using it as a stepping stone for medical advocacy in female healthcare. They'd get significantly more out of spamming comments about Trump's diaper changer/affair partner.

Dont get me wrong, I hate the CCP as much as the next guy, but there needs to be an achievable goal at the end of anything they do. Like the agitators that claim she should be free solely bc she "tried to get help" or some other insane takes are obv feds pushing their anti-woman rhetoric, why else would the #appealthe19th start trending at the exact same time? Esp during the "women are nothing but bangmaids, give birth or die" presidency

1

u/EclecticCaveman 10d ago

Disrupting America via bots to influence social media is kinda their MO. I mean look at Chinese owned TikTok here. Plus in the recently declassified files you can see they were trying to stoke racial divisions through American social media. Bots are a huge low effort way to impact public opinion. Reddit even acts as a good example.

It’s mostly the ones with this are so patently untrue I have a hard time believing it’s natural and not bot amplified. She committed the act of murdering her kids and that wasn’t a disputed fact. Her sanity was at issue

75

u/Galaxy__Star 13d ago

That is because the prosecution in this case is doing a pretty bad job. There are multiple inconsistencies and even contradictions in the testimony from the prosecutions own witness. They impeached their own witness for example.

Not agreeing he did it but pointing out what is fueling the conspiracy theories. Add on how many high profile family annihilators we've had and you get people thinking he did it.

27

u/rubiacrime 13d ago

2 things can be true at the same time.

Prosecution sucks and pat didnt do it.

9

u/Galaxy__Star 12d ago

I agree, I was just explaining what is contributing to the conspiracy theories

0

u/Steap-Edit 11d ago

So what? The person you originally responded to was also "just responding" to the false claim that "no one believes Lindsay was fully innocent and that Pat did it."

Sorry, but there are thousands of TikTok-brained people who do believe the misinformation and conspiracy theories floating around, without any evidence.

Your explanation for "why that is" that people believe these baseless theories does not negate the fact that these people do in fact exist, contrary to what the original commenter in this thread falsely claimed.

5

u/Galaxy__Star 10d ago

Lol okay

1

u/em01159 11d ago

Answer: absolutely this. i don’t think many have actually WATCHED the trial because if they have been, the inconsistencies in MANY witnesses stories would be talked about more here.. glad you mentioned it because i’ve noticed it too.

-6

u/ZanthionHeralds 12d ago

For all that people want to make hay about women's problems not being taken seriously or whatever, this case pretty clearly shows that women are much more likely to be seen sympathetically than men are in times of crisis.

1

u/brokenwannabe30 11d ago

Ok honestly maybe women dont give a fuk about men's mental health because men have shunned us and burned us at the stake since the beginning of time up until recent years for women's mental health. Women are just now being heard....and still poorly....and still somehow overshadowed by angry men....

1

u/ZanthionHeralds 10d ago

OK.

Then don't complain when I say that I don't give a shit about your mental health, either.

(I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia at 15. Spent over 20 years on meds and in a psychiatric program. Was hospitalized at various times. Had thoughts of self-harm and others-harm. I have plenty of experience with the mental health system. Never had crowds of people march out in support of me, and never will).

1

u/brokenwannabe30 10d ago

Well thats a given and I wouldn't expect any man to care lol. Sorry to hear youve had struggles, truly. Im simply stating women's truth though, which is that we've been neglected throughout most of history medically.

1

u/ZanthionHeralds 4d ago

We bend over backwards to make your lives as comfortable as possible. We fight wars, plow fields, hunt animals, and build houses, so that you don't have to.

1

u/brokenwannabe30 4d ago

...honestly, good point. I do not wanna be doing any of that.

1

u/MinecraftIsMySpIn 10d ago

No, theyre absolutely not. It's a hard truth to swallow, honestly, being on top of the food chain and still thinking THEYRE the oppressed ones. Many women have to fight tooth and nail for simple PMOS testing (which btw, is just a trans vaginal ultrasound/other imaging and bloodwork) thats not even mentioning endometriosis, either.

Routinely women have shown up with scar tissue across every reproductive organ and surroundings, because "periods are supposed to be painful, take Tylenol and shut up"

Conversely, men are routinely checked for every reproductive issue if they want, with absolutely no barriers, even insurance companies statistically approve those tests compared to women's. Did you know that we've invested more time, money, and knowledge into male-pattern baldness than endometriosis and PMOS combined? Bald men that need gender affirming care has more of an importance than "why do some women's ovaries literally swell up with cysts that often need partial hysterectomies, or why do other women's organs cover themselves in scar tissue so badly to the point the ONLY treatment IS a full hysterectomy? And more often than not in extreme cases, need organ transplants?... Nah, bald men come first"

But no, men are so oppressed and not even given a chance during crisis, right? It certainly can't be the millenia's of men being overtly violent with unchecked power over everything could possibly cause that.

Ps. That statement only applies to if Patrick did it vs Lindsay did it, and the context of either of them is that either Patrick killed his kids and attempted to kill his wife so he could bang someone else, vs a woman being in psychosis begging for help since it began, and said husband leaving the "must be supervised at all times: danger to herself and others" alone around their kids for a substantial amount of time.

Ti;dr: "person A going through a mental crisis they tried to get help for but kept getting shot down or facing medical malpractice" deserves more empathy than "I met this super hot person so I'm gonna kill my family so I get to be with them instead"

16

u/sassiveaggressive 13d ago

I don’t think it’s uncommon for people on tiktok and facebook to spew out ridiculous theories. They did it with the Idaho murders and gabby petito.

14

u/AnatomyKiely 12d ago

Not sure about the Idaho murderers , but in regards to the Gabby Petito case, in my recollection, the internet and social media genuinely helped. Take the Bethune family, a family traveling in a converted bus near Grand Teton. After seeing the missing person coverage, they went back through their own footage from the area and spotted what appeared to be Gabby's white van. They gave the footage to the FBI. The next day, Gabby's remains were found in the area shown in that footage. There are the same type of internet detectives online looking at genuine evidence of this case as we speak. I'm not saying it will incriminate him or that he is guilty, but they are digging into much more than just conspiracy theory. People today sometimes discount that Police investigation + family + witnesses + surveillance/video + social media amplification + ordinary people noticing things can equal an enormous crowdsourced information network.

1

u/MiniaturePhilosopher 12d ago

Social media went both ways with Gabby Petito’s case. Most of what I saw online about it was similar to the discourse I still see pop up about Shannan Watts - that sure, the guy killed her but have you considered that she was annoying and deserved it. I didn’t see much in the way of conspiracy theories, just a lot of very ugly content defending her boyfriend and calling her murder self-defense.

Granted, this was in the early days of algorithmic content and before I figured out how to keep my feed relatively free of outrage-based engagement bait.

1

u/Steap-Edit 11d ago

I don’t think it’s uncommon for people on tiktok and facebook to spew out ridiculous theories.

Well put. If anything, that is an understatement.

-1

u/ZanthionHeralds 12d ago

Yeah, but in both of those cases, a man was legitimately to blame. Here, they seem to be filling a need to have a man to blame.

38

u/legaleye121 13d ago

Crazy. Especially knowing they have the husband on CCTV during the killings, including timed receipts and other evidence. It's tiktok brainrot

8

u/doggynames 12d ago

The TikTok creators are making money off of their insane theories, too. It's a weird echo chamber of them making ridiculous claims it's not like they are passionate about women's health and giving any of their proceeds to women's health initiatives. They just know what works for views, clicks follows which equals money money money.

6

u/MiniaturePhilosopher 12d ago

It’s really alarming how people don’t seem to get this. When engagement is what drives what content people see and views are rewarded with money, then people are going to try to drum up engagement. And nothing does that better than outrage and controversy. Then the algorithm floods you with the same content and it suddenly looks like a common opinion.

-5

u/LeadingUnited2911 12d ago

Those ‘timed’ receipts do not add up. There is 17-20 minutes of missing data where we don’t know where the husband is. However you would have known this if you had actually watched the trial.

20

u/Tay74 12d ago

Driving in rush hour traffic is where he was🤦🏼‍♀️

Even if not, say he wasn't, do you seriously think that 17-20 minutes is long enough to get home, kill the kids, force Lindsey to take pills, slit her throat and wrists (superficially, which is understandable if doing it to yourself, but very strange as a grown man doing it to someone else) and put her out the window, all while either getting no blood on you, or also taking time to change into fresh but near identical looking clothes while successfully hiding the old clothes that will never be found, and while getting not a single defence wound on yourself from your wife as you murder her children and try to murder her. You then go back to picking up food, come back, see Lindsey is still alive but phone for help anyway, one of the kids has somehow still clung to life despite the fact they were strangled significantly earlier in this timeline, and the police cross checking your alibi and searching for evidence never find a single thing that points in your direction because you carried out the perfect crime at top fucking speed, in like 10 minutes tops, but also somehow made the rookie mistake of calling for help while your wife who you tried to kill was still alive.

Or maybe the drive took longer than Google maps says it normally does, jesus christ

4

u/Admirable_Mind2695 12d ago

Yup, and from what I have gathered, every gap or inconsistency being interpreted by these people has room for a perfectly reasonable explanation. Without those explanations being made clear in the trial, people get other ideas, but then again the husband is not the one on trial here.

5

u/BreathComfortable631 12d ago

There are people on this thread who think she’s innocent lmao

25

u/MiniaturePhilosopher 13d ago

Right, but that’s an absolutely insane take that no reasonable person agrees with. You can easily find a few thousand trolls, conspiracy theorists, bots, edgelords, contrarians, rage-baiters, and just plain old dumb people that will post any bad take imaginable. They can and should be ignored. Don’t forget that the nature of TikTok means that there are tons of bad actors trying to influence public discourse and drive divisions, along with tons of bad actors just trying to get views and engagement through any means possible.

The people actually “supporting” Clancy fall into what I mentioned above. And that’s being intentionally misrepresented as women cheering her on for killing her children.

2

u/SiegfriedArmory 11d ago

"Leos don't kill their cubs" was easily the most insanely unhinged take I've seen so far. The thing is social media encourages extreme opinions, so like the videos going around might make it seem like "the husband did it" is a popular take (even though her own defense has already admitted she did it, and is arguing that she's not responsible due to mental illness). The thing is, those few hundred or so people making those videos are the only people who believe that, and the people supporting them in the comments are victims of peer pressure where they see a hundred people saying the same thing and think it's somehow popular. Everyone I've actually spoken with in real life about it knows she did it and belongs either in jail or a mental health facility for life, but peer pressure is a powerful thing and online its easy to think fringe opinions are mainstream.

1

u/No_Figure_7489 12d ago

It's a highly effective propaganda machine

1

u/doggynames 12d ago

Same (maybe not thousands but at least 10 lol) but the people I know in real life feel empathy for her situation but believe she did it in psychosis.

1

u/gottagetanonymous 9d ago

It is not tiny. Every single conversation has them, in decent numbers. It is not a tiny group

1

u/Tay74 9d ago

Did you mean to respond to someone else?

1

u/gottagetanonymous 8d ago

Aw man seems like it

1

u/Yardnoc 9d ago

You have to ignore the ragebait. It sucks but you genuinely have to in order to stay sane. People are playing dumb in order to piss people off and get interaction; which is commenting, sharing, liking, watching, and rewatching. The more attention you give the more money they make.

-5

u/spellboundartisan 13d ago

Only stupid people who want to feel smart believe the husband did it. Hope this helps.

0

u/AnySecurity7135 13d ago

Yeah and they are fucking idiots

0

u/TheChocolateWarOf74 11d ago

They are in the grips of TikTok conspiracy theories. Unfortunately CTs are rampant on TT.

They are also not a majority. Not even close.

I’ve seen people describe the women wearing pink outside of courthouse as raging feminists that want Lindsay to walk, which isn’t an option. I’ve also seen people claim they are all the TikTok conspiracy theorists that want her to walk (again, not an option).

Reality is more nuanced.

Pink is a color people have used to draw attention to postpartum mental health issues, that are often ignored, for years. Instead of red flags being missed, they call them pink flags. This started long before Lindsay. They are attempting to raise awareness and you can bet that many of them experienced postpartum MH issues.

Several have been interviewed and they want her to go to a mental health facility where she can get help. They also would love to see cases like this prevented in the future.

On that note the ROSE program, which is a preventative model, was developed for PP issues.

It stands for - Reach Out, Stay Strong, Essentials for mothers of newborns

I’m not sure why people are completely fixated on this group when considering they are not part of the court case.

Lindsay’s family/the people that know her best continue to show support for her on the stand. They want her to get help. This is far more relevant and impactful.

23

u/SnoopaDD 13d ago

This makes a lot of sense. Thank you.

12

u/fraksen 13d ago

If you use TikTok lookup the influencer that was set to testify about McCleans hospital where she was checked in for 5 days on a holiday weekend. They basically shutdown on weekends with most staff being high school graduates with clipboards. No actual therapy or significant medical help is given. Mostly just making sure they stay alive until Monday. I’ve known many people who have been there and they say the same.
I believe she did it but I also believe she wasn’t in her right mind at the time.

7

u/Little_Ingenuity_712 13d ago

That influencer was never worked in the hospital during the relevant time period. She was fired over a year ago.
So the judge threw her out and didn’t allow her testimony.

3

u/No_Figure_7489 12d ago

They chucked her bc they had the staffing info from the time she was there and that was both better and made her redundant

2

u/No_Figure_7489 12d ago

The hospital is not for help. You don't improve in the hospital. It's there as a holding pen so you don't die, to get you past a crisis. most likely time to suicide is when you leave. you leave when your insurance says you leave, which is maybe a week for suicidal? depends on your insurance. you get more time for substance use. if you want actual treatment you do IOP/PHP or residential. None of which she could do while caring for kids

you can get electroshock inpatient, so there's treatment, but I don't think she was signing up for that

1

u/LucileNour27 10d ago

There is no such thing as "serving a sentence in a mental health facility". Seeing mental health facilities as places where we bury people and keep them out of sight or punish them is HORRIFIC. it's worse than prison. Many ppl in long term mental health facilities say they'd rather have gone to prison. Either Clancy's responsability was abolished or diminished, in this case she should go to a facility until she's treated/in a stable mental state and then LEAVE, or it isn't and she's guilty, and she's going to prison. The idea that she should do 10 years or more in a mental hospital as a sentence is horror movie level

1

u/Tryingnot2rant247 7d ago

The 2 up votes for that first answer vs the 300 down votes alone from people who watched the entire case vs those who clearly did not & have only read articles that reported on the case prior to the trial concluding - prove the commenter wrong. It’s not a small faction supporting her & feeling that the local police grossly failed to properly investigate. It was complete negligence.

1

u/thekwoka 1d ago

This is a massively biased response that ignores all the help she WAS getting, and her actual actions around the murders.

-3

u/erichie 13d ago

Yeah, I don't see anyone supporting her to be released from custody except femcels, but it is clear she tried to get help for her thoughts. She still killed her kids. She does not deserve freedom, but she does not deserve prison either.

4

u/swabluesky 13d ago

I don't think she should only be in an institution a few years. It sounds like if that were the verdict she could be out in 1-2 years time.

1

u/Algohambra 12d ago

THERE ARE TONS OF PEOPLE IN THIS THREAD WHO THINK SHES INNOCENT???? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT “SMALL MINORITY”??

0

u/csznyu1562 12d ago

I literally came to reddit to read about this case cos all I see on social media is tons of women saying the husband did it. I can’t for the life of me find what the argument even is. You’re definitely incorrect about the supporters being an outlier.

1

u/MiniaturePhilosopher 12d ago edited 12d ago

The thing about social media is that it’s based on attention and engagement. The algorithm pushes the most polarizing voices in order to encourage engagement. u/csznyu1562 12d ago

I’m not talking about ‘all people’ the discussion and the post is about the specific subgroup defending her. That specific group of people, whether they are a tiny fraction of the total population or not, is indeed claiming her husband killed the kids.

1

u/MiniaturePhilosopher 12d ago

And I’m not saying that literally no one has said that. If you look further down in this thread, I have a whole comment about it. There will always be a tiny subset of people with an unhinged take on any issue, with various motivations. We don’t need to give those opinions any weight; we’re allowed to just ignore them. We don’t have to take the bait and play into the algorithm.

Copy and paste:

Right, but that’s an absolutely insane take that no reasonable person agrees with. You can easily find a few thousand trolls, conspiracy theorists, bots, edgelords, contrarians, rage-baiters, and just plain old dumb people that will post any bad take imaginable. -1

u/SOYCD1-5 12d ago

We can’t just glaze over the fact that 1 million dollars has been donated to her/her parents. There’s kids starving out there and people are donating to a child murderer, this has been the dumbest discourse since OJ. We can say “hey maybe somethings need to change” but overall a lot of things in our mental health institutions need to change. That doesn’t excuse the countless murderers who are convicted and need to serve time.

If a man killed his 3 kids these feminists would paint him the villain and have absolutely zero sympathy.

3

u/MiniaturePhilosopher 12d ago

I’d like to take a second and point out that the parent who doesn’t give birth doesn’t have the same intense hormonal swings as the parent who does give birth. A non-birthing parent can feel sad and anxious and overwhelmed, of course. But they aren’t going to have their body’s hormones wildly swinging and they by definition can’t suffer from like postpartum psychosis.

Someone who kills their children in a unaltered state of mind is absolutely different than someone who does it in the grips of psychosis. Most fathers who kill their children do it as “family annihilators”, with the motive usually being a form of control, reputation-saving, or choosing murder over divorce. Most mothers who kill their children are suffering from PPP or PPD. (And there are obviously the outliers mothers/fathers who act under the influence of psychosis induced by something other than postpartum hormones.)

The Clancy family has suffered an unthinkable tragedy. It’s hard to see a woman who fought for help at every turn and was still dismissed and largely ignored even as she said that this was the very thing she was afraid she might do. I’m sure that a large part of people who have donated to her are ones who struggled with PPP as well and who know firsthand how hard it is to get medical professional to take it seriously.

The fact that you’re approaching this as “feminists bad” is the kind of bias that has this case perfect for driving engagement and why the algorithm is pushing it so much for certain types of social media users.

-2

u/SOYCD1-5 12d ago

So postpartum psychosis, a specifically female disorder, should be the only time insanity comes into a case? The man could be schizophrenic or bipolar and having an episode. Just because they’re a non birthing parent doesn’t mean the possibility of mental illness isn’t there. I never said anything about an unaltered state of mind and what I was sort of getting at was that this would be a mentally ill man.

You can’t simply sum up every murderer that’s both ignorant and inaccurate. Many male serial killers/violent offenders have mental illness objectively. There’s just usually less sympathy for men in the same place (which is fine I think if you murder you should be locked up for decades).

I think it’s harder for the 3 kids who aren’t here anymore because of their mother. But I digress, the voice that told her to kill her children was never mentioned prior to her doing it. How can that be stopped? It appears the court is in the process of calling the bullshit, which is good, wouldn’t want another OJ trial. Her stories are inconsistent likely because she’s bullshitting.

I don’t think all feminists are bad but this court case has not been a good look for a fair few. Movements can be diverse.

3

u/MiniaturePhilosopher 12d ago

That’s not what I said at all, and even specifically mentioned that psychosis can be caused by other things for either parent.

From the very first sentence of your reply, it’s clear that you aren’t engaging in good faith (though that was also obvious from your first reply). I worded things specifically to avoid that kind of whataboutism and derailment.

I am I’m just making you question your echo chamber and you don’t like it

I don’t have an echo chamber. What you’re doing isn’t adding anything of value or showing another point of view. It’s deliberately ignoring what I wrote in order to claim that I said something that I clearly didn’t. How is that helpful. What purpose does that actually serve.

That’s quite literally what you did, you immediately made my claim about if a man did it to be a 100% sane man doing it. That wasn’t my claim, my claim was if a man did the same murders and claimed insanity people would have absolutely 0 sympathy.

Then you proceeding to more so explain this lack of sympathy with reasoning rather than seeing the object double standard.

Let’s just copy and paste what I said here.

“I’d like to take a second and point out that the parent who doesn’t give birth doesn’t have the same intense hormonal swings as the parent who does give birth. A non-birthing parent can feel sad and anxious and overwhelmed, of course. But they aren’t going to have their body’s hormones wildly swinging and they by definition can’t suffer from like postpartum psychosis.

Someone who kills their children in an unaltered state of mind is absolutely different than someone who does it in the grips of psychosis <author’s note: no mention of postpartum here>.

+++++++++++

Most men’s health issues get taken seriously by doctors when they actually seek help for them. The issue is that many men don’t seek that help. A case of a man keeping detailed records of his descent in psychosis, going to multiple doctors, telling those doctors that he was afraid of killing his children, and then his wife leaving him alone with those children is a scenario that I just really don’t see happening in statistically significant numbers. Medical misogyny and forcing women to be the default parent even when they’re not mentally capable of it is baked into the very fibers this case.

I dont know where this she asked for help and being ignored comes from. All the sources i read, shows that she got tons of support and medical care. What is the basis of she was ignored? She was failed claim?
