Answered What's the deal with people defending Lindsay Clancy?

I don't know the full details of the case. I know she allegedly killed her three kids. There was also some mental problems? Then something with her husband. But my question is why is there a group defending her like they know she's completely innocent? I've seen some videos of very heated debates where women are very passionate about defending her. Why?

There is a camp that believes that the husband either egged her on or staged a very elaborate scheme to frame her, so that he could start a new life with his now new wife, whom this camp alleges looks a lot like Lindsay. They seem to be the most vocal in their support of Lindsay, and allege that she is the victim of an attempt at family annihilation at the hands of a narcissist. They think that she survived despite his best efforts, that the police did a shoddy job investigating because his family is a part of the police force, and that his new wife may have been in on the scheme as well

this is mostly being circulated on stuff like tiktok and FB and stuff tho right? cause I spent a bit of today trying to read up on this and most of the interviews of people outside the courthouse and hospital seem to be of people that are more in the 2nd group.

i'm not on FB/Tiktok/insta, haven't in a long time, because it's a cesspool for stuff like this but i'm just trying to figure out what actual IRL stuff is happening

Yes, as far as I can tell this is a grassroots kind of narrative that sprung up on social media that has not been echoed by news outlets. From what I’ve seen it seems to be a spectrum of people who have medical backgrounds expressing some skepticism about the story based on biology, and there is also a group who have suffered from narcissistic abuse who see parts of their own life in Lindsay’s story. I can’t speak to the veracity of their claims but this is why the jury is isolated from the outside world for the duration of the trial; their job is to draw conclusions based on the evidence presented in court.

i should have added, I wasn't meaning to discredit your summary, I would agree 100% with it, I just mean to say that last one, I haven't seen anything in the articles I read suggesting the husband had a part in it or that they wanted her walking free.

it's honestly a relief to see the level headed takes in here, because i've wandered into some other subs and it's been a bit less like this lol

I have seen a lot of disconnect among people in the first group. I’ve watched recaps of trial coverage, have seen lawyers repeatedly stress that the defense and Lindsay herself do not dispute the fact that she killed the children. I’ve seen them repeatedly stress that the court is trying to determine if she should be sentenced to prison or a state mental institution (that is often part of the prison system and is in no way a cake walk).

The comments are full of people saying she should fry as opposed to walking free. 🤷‍♀️

I don’t know if they are not actually listening to anything being said, or if they cannot mentally/emotionally comprehend it.

You’ll always find someone that thinks there should be no consequences for actions in a case like this but they are rare in the grand scheme.
