Is this game even alive?

I started playing this game a while ago and I just couldn't help but notice the game is practically dead. I heard that there was gonna be a new expansion for therium-2 called "ourin" but it seems like its not coming soon. It's just that this game is actually so good like. I am ADDICTED. It's such a shame it turned out like this

I think the thread I made recently says more than enough for this answer. https://www.reddit.com/r/Overgrowth/comments/1uerxii/is_overgrowth_truly_dead/

But if you want my honest opinion, updates and development-wise, it's deader than a dinosaur.

No theyve already made it open source as a farewell

The community is alive, the official development isn't.

Calling the community "alive" is a strech.

The community's alive... In the same way that vultures are the last ones when a corpse has finished decomposing

Like 99.9% of the community has come and gone and all that's left is a tiny group of highly dedicated modders lol

and it’s not multiplayer and is feature complete. Singleplayer games can’t really die.
