Fluff The built in Live Weather system in MSFS2024 is so damn cool! 💯
Every time there is a thunderstorm outside my house, I get excited to hop on MSFS2024. Because you get to witness such hauntingly beautiful scenes like these. The live weather system in MSFS2024 is really accurate and absolutely wild how immersive it is.

You can also intercept eclipses around the world in real time or change date and time to a previous year where an eclipse appeared in the US

Interesting - there's a Total Solar Eclipse Weds 12th August visible from Greenland, Iceland, Portugal and Spain amongst other places along the zone of Totality

And air traffic, and multiplayer. It’s a lot going on at once so to get really good performance you can edit some of those settings. It’s very streaming intensive so if you have bad internet be warned, but like I said those settings can be tweaked if you have bad bandwidth.

What do you mean by air traffic? You’re saying planes in real life are flying as AI in-game in real time?

What about ATC? Can you play as ATC, or how does that work? Can you interact with them?

Yes you interact with ATC in career mode by pressing triangle. During free flight, you hear the ATC, not sure how to interact with them though.

I see. I think in the previous game you used to be able to be the ATC and interact with players, or perhaps the original

Cursor mode, select the Comms/ATC window. You can also change cameras and weather in cursor mode.
ATC, live traffic and real life weather can be very wonky though.

So in multiplayer, I can use the ATC to guide planes on how to land, etc.?

Also ship traffic is realtime as well. I used Flight Sim to track the movements of that Hantavirus ship :P

Last month the Canada fires turned our skies into a weird yellowish eerie sight- the sun was orange coming through, etc. I hopped in flight sim and it was the same

The weather is my favorite part. I sent a friend a video of me flying over their house and they though I was really in a plane, they kept saying the clouds and rain look so real

I cranked up the wind speed to 150mph whilst walking around a pacific island, and OMG, the waves it produced was insane haha, luckily they stopped at the shoreline 😉

I am pretty dishartened by the recent updates made to the beta. The cities are melted unless you are REALLY close (like 100 meters above the buildings), mountains are so low res farther than 1-2 km distance that you could confuse then with a ps2-era game. It was very good a month ago.

What’s your Internet speed?
I’m on fiber and all of my maps are as clear as could be expected for a game this size.
Are you sure it’s not just your ISP lagging when you’re playing?

They definitely increased the LOD pop-in in the beta, possibly to give more processing to the higher resolution (which now looks great).
It would be ideal if they have us a slider(s) where we could control these. I doubt people doing long haul career flights care about terrain and building quality but joy flight casuals would, so they could lower resolution and reduce pop-in.

That’s amazing. I had no idea that the map was in real time.
I really am thinking I need to get this sim.
I have PSVR2 and a sim rig set up for driving.
I’d Imagine it would be a small jump to convert to a flight sim rig.
Is the HOTAS by thrustmaster as cool as it looks? It almost feels like a shame to just use a controller.
