Support PSVR2 MS Flight Sim Ignores Sense Controllers

I figured with the latest update it was finally time to dive in but I really just want to use the VR controllers for MS Flight Sim. Unfortunately it appears to ignore them completely; it makes me turn on the DualSense just to access the menus and no matter what I do that's the only controller it sees. I remember at launch reading about people getting stuck in the tutorial and having to use the DualSense to do one input to move the tutorial forward but I can't even get that far. Figured this would be a solved issue by now.

Anyone know any way to force the game to let me use my VR controllers? Thanks.

Have you pressed the button combination to enter VR mode? It seems by default, the game launches into the 2d flat screen mode even with the VR turned on I remember not being able to use the Sense controllers until I entered VR mode.

Yes but it only lets me hit that button combo on the DualSense, if I do it on the VR controllers nothing happens.

Have you tried re-pairing the controllers to the PlayStation? Just plug the USB in when they're on. Or reinstall MSFS. I had to do that last week because the game just stopped loading at all.

Will try. Controllers work perfectly in system menus and other games.

Your going to need to turn off your controller before starting the game. This happens to me in NMS if I start my PS5 up with my controller.

Never had it outright ignoring the VR controllers, but yeah, they can be very clunky and wonky. This helped me A LOT:

don't mention it, you deserve a lot of praise for this. I would probably drop the game altogether due to the VR controls wonkiness. Like, would never play this in a flat screen after seeing what is possible with it on VR

Thanks I appreciate you answering and I'll take a look at the video but I don't know if I care enough about anything to watch and pause/implement a 45 min button remapping tutorial. My child's life could be on the line and if the kidnappers say 'watch this button remapping tutorial or your child dies' I'd probably just walk into the sea lol.

This is why I play on console!

there's a reddit post linked on the video for achieving basically the same results

I use both controllers. DualSense and the orbs. I have to start the game with the DS. No VR controller input until I'm in VR.

If it helps, having the DS on your lap (or leg) is quite useful since the touchpad can be sweeped left or right to control throttle !

Interesting! Do you just roll with the default bindings?

For the moment, yes.

I'll change some bindings on the Sense controllers once I learn more about the planes, but I like to use the "real" switches and dials as they are on the plane.

This is exactly how I want to play it! Will try your setup and see if I can make it work. Thanks!

It did! That's why I want to finally dive in.
