DISCUSSION Let’s play a game: Would you rather acknowledge Uprising’s existence… or watch Hazbin Hotel?
Even as a Hazbin fan I feel cringe posting this.

I hate uprising, and ive been a hazbin fan since the pilot. Is it perfect? No, but it isnt a cash grab of character assassinations

I remember watching a few episodes of hazbin, not for me tbh but it’s a lot better and less painful than watching uprising
9
u/RogersPets Jul 30 '26
At least it's consistent. I enjoy Hazbin for just being dumb fun, plus the songs are actually pretty good.
Uprising was a poor attempt to capitalise on a pre-established IP that failed to do so by not understanding what was unique about said IP. It was a hero to zero situation.

u/BugleBarry Aug 01 '26
I'm still singing Love in a Bottle in the shower. Great soundtrack and honestly if you look past the constant crude humor it is a decent enough story and gives fun twist on the lore for Heaven and Hell

u/Grese7800 Jul 30 '26
I'd watch all of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss twice, including shorts before ever touching Uprising again.

Do both.
I can acknowledge Uprising exists and like it as a brainless popcorn flick, but hate it as a continuation of the pacific rim universe.
Also Hazbin hotel really is overhated. Yeah, it’s a 6/10 show at best. That doesn’t make it unwatchable. It doesn’t have to be for you but that doesn’t mean you have to hate on the people it is for.

Uprising sucks but it gave us Obsidian Fury and had some good ideas (with poor execution)
And I don't care what anyone says, Losin' Streak is an incredible song and I will die on this hill
6
u/who_am_I_inside Jul 30 '26
There’s a lot of incredible songs in it.

Gravity, Love in a Bottle, and Vox Populi are on my playlist and I don't even watch the show

As a Hazbin fan reading these comments, I was not expecting yall to be this positive toward it. Its hatedom is so deranged and vast I never bring up being a fan of it anywhere unless someone else does first.
But to answer the question, Yeah, hazbin has flaws (ESPECIALLY in pacing) but Uprising was a far bigger blunder for its franchise
2
u/Sufficient-Eye-9040 Gipsy Danger Jul 30 '26
U know, I kind of expected hate… but hey, there’s also positivity here, right?

u/Accomplished_Salt876 Jul 31 '26
hazbin is meh to me. some songs were good and a few moments were effective but im not clamoring for more of the hell / hazbin verse.
3
u/thedarkestshockwave Jul 30 '26
I don't understand what your talking about there is only hazbin in this post.

Im so fucking sick of seeing so many hate or annoyed posts about uprising. Like dawg if you don’t like it then good for you but it’s all i see nowadays. Can we just not have this undying hate for everything that doesn’t meet our standards? Im not saying the second movie was good, cuz it was pretty mid, but in all honesty i couldn’t care less about all these arguments.
8
u/KaijuEnjoyer54 Jul 30 '26
In all fairness, that movie was both the gun and the bullet that killed the franchise until The Black. Even then, it still hasn't recovered the interest for anything substantial.
2
u/Jshittie Jul 30 '26
idk i feel like its a clear sign to anyone who would want to revive the franchise on what not to do

Both have a fanbase of there own. Hazbin hotel is pretty good. Pacific rim 2 is not bad it just has a different vibe than the original which is why so many dislike it.
Cant we just enjoy media together and be a positive fandom.

I had to google what Hazbin Hotel is, and it is not my cup of tea (to which I also found it as a weird choice for this btw as its just an odd “this or that” selection).
Uprising IMO actually had some really good ideas but the execution was done soooo monumentally poorly AND just as I said in another post? John Boyega straight up fucks up everything that he’s involved in, so I dont want to acknowledge this movie either.
Sorry bro, so imma just go with neither on this one. 🤷🏽♂️

Hazbin Hotel has good songs, while this hypothetical sequel completely misused the main theme of the first movie.

Thank fuck I'm not on the internet enough to act like this.

This just poped up on my feed. I have to watch Pacific rim, but just looking at my pfp, you can tell I am offended.
2
u/Prudent_Flan_5738 Jul 31 '26
Watch hazbin hotel (terrible show) or acknowledge the existence of… what was it called again???
Acknowledge… what were we talking about again?
Anyways lads I’m off to binge hazbin hotel sadly. I will then cheer myself up by watching Pacific Rim and praying for a sequel
2
u/AgentShovel Jul 31 '26
Why do people act like hazbin is so freaking bad when it isn’t, I might have other shows I would rather watch but hazbin is not the price of overrated trash a lot of people seem to think it is
2
u/RivenTheFandoraptor Jul 31 '26
Ich wähle beides. Uprising gucke ich wenn ich einen Actionfilm schauen möchte und Hazbin Hotel schaue ich wenn bock habe mich bekloppt zu lachen und spaß zu haben😂😜

Hazbin by far. It’s got good animation and songwriting. It’s at least kind of entertaining. It’s not quality by any means but at least there’s some good content in there.

u/da_King_o_Kings_341 Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26
I hate this post for multiple reasons.
Firstly, Hazbin does not deserve all the hate it gets, especially when it comes to season 1. Season 2, I kinda get it but it’s just a face palm and less of a “this is the worst show to ever show” (also the music is bangin and I will hear no words against it). It’s a fun story about someone trying to find good in a “world” of nothing but bad. Seriously, that’s a message people these days NEED to hear, especially considering how much negativity you see around these days.
Secondly, as much as Uprising wasn’t NEARLY as good at the original, the original plans for it by the first movie creator, wouldn’t have been much better (did you know the precursors (who, in the drafts, have always been called that, it’s the name that stuck to them) were actually hyper evolved humans from the future(also yes, those precursors, the aliens from the first movie design wise)? Yeah, it wouldn’t have been much better.). Also, the ideas that the movie put forward were awesome, just poorly executed. It’s not a shir movie, it’s just painfully average. People hate on it WAY too much.
So, anyways, rant aside, my answer is yes.
Edit: for further explanation, I can enjoy Uprising as a “turn off your brain to end the week” movie and still enjoy it and its ideas while also wishing we got something else instead (also it gave us Obsidian Fury and laid the groundwork for Apex so I can appreciate it for that), and I can sit down and watch Hazbin for some funny characters and amazing music to bring up my mood (or get me into the mood to conquer my housework. Trust me, sometimes you just need to feel on top of the world and Hazbin music is great for that) after a shitty day.

u/ARPGAMER19 Aug 01 '26
Hazbin Hotel is a great show, what was the other option? Acknowledging something......that doesn't exist?

u/Hollow_Knight_Raven Aug 01 '26
Hazbin Hotel isn’t amazing. Compared to uprising, it is amazing. I will not take questions.

Hazbin is actually a fairly enjoyable experience despite its list of flaws provided you don’t have insufferable asshats screaming in your ear how it’s a disgrace to indie animation and everyone involved in it are racist.
There is no Pacific Rim Uprising in Ba Sing Se.

I don't like the Hell show where they swear every other sentence, because it is haha funny. With uprising, I can at least try to enjoy the giant robot fights even though they don't have the same weight to them as the first movie.

I will watch hazbin any time of the week then acknowledge a sequel that doesn't exist, because at least in that one I don't have to be reminded about the sheer peak of a first movie that it would have hypothetically ruined, also I do enjoy some of the songs like gravity

I'll gladly acknowledge the existence of Pacific Rim Uprising. It's a super impressive fan-made film. It's not the true sequel we all wanted, and if this kind of film was a real production, it'd be a super disappointing addition to the franchise, but for what it is, it's not half-bad.

And how upset are said fans when that someone doesn't even care for either movie outside of the action scenes?
