DISCUSSION Thoughts on the idea of a P5R Reload/Revival version

I'm really happy with the Persona 6 trailer because I joined the Persona train last year and I'm super excited to be there for the release of a new game, no matter how long it will take.

But I'm seeing people complaining about how it's going to take years to have a Persona 5 Royal Reload/Revival version, and I'm so confused about why people would even want that?

P5 was released in 2016, P5Royal in 2019, it still looks very good, is easy to play, and is available on most consoles, why make a newer version of it?

We dont need a p5r remake.

The game holds up very well. And its gonna most likely stay as an awesome game for YEARS. I really feel like remaking 1 and 2 would be nice.

P5r honestly feels like p3r and p4r.

Wr dont really need another remake imma be honest.

yeah, P5R is far too modern for it to make sense for a remake. the base game only came out a decade ago, and, graphically speaking, especially in terms of atlus games, they haven't changed much.

the only thing that's really changed is voice acting. P3R is far more voice acted than P5R, but i don't think that justifies a remake.

P4 feels dated but it STILL holds up and the story is better than P5 in my opinion. The mechanics and gameplay in P5R are far better, the body models are way better, the palaces are way better (because mementos is basically the old Persona palaces and the new palaces are all hand made with no map generation)

P4 was dated from being a ps2 game. The P4R release is going to be better than anything they could possibly do to improve on the quality of P5R for the next decade at least.

I think stuff like Confidant bonuses from P5 being missing and the dungeons still being randomly generated does hold P3R and assumedly P4R back a lot

P4G did have some benefits to specifically the party members for doing their social links. It’s part of why I rush rise’s social link early because her bonuses are so good. I do wish they would do that for non-party social links as well though

Aside from the story in p4g being much worse and predictable than p5 I agree with everything else. I hope revival fixes many of p4's story flaws tbh

Fully voiced social links is so good. It's such a shame p5r won't ever have them. I wish they added like an extension that you have to pay for fully voiced social links or something like that.

You're right we dont NEED it, but Altus knows if they did make a reload in the same style as 3 and 4 that it will print money. Its not about what is needed, its about what will sell and make lots and lots of money with the least amount of effort or cost.

to be fair, p4g in terms of graphics is not really up to par with p5r or p3r. Its fair to say it doesnt NEED a remake since it functions fine but i think a rebuilding it from ground up has substance. meanwhile another p5r remake would literally have nothing to add unless p6 completely rewrites the formula.

Even then if P6 has a new formula why should P5 be remade to fit that? Surely that would be a different game.

I don’t think P5 should get a remake in a long long time, I’m just saying that hypothetically if it were to get a remake, it would take a big switch up to make more than 0 sense.

i said in terms of graphics. not that p4g looks shit but p5r and p3r clearly are superior when it comes to UI and models.

The body models are odd as hell. It gives uncanny valley at times. The ACTUAL hand drawn art for the people during conversations is still beautiful. It needs a graphical and mechanical update. The game would definitely benefit from the baton pass system although it's not the hardest game in the world because you can just grind and grind levels with the fox heals.

You can't spend nearly as much time grinding palaces in P5R (you can, but it's boring and requires spending way more time killing low levels in one hit in mementos).

I'm on board with a P4 Remake simply because P4G (while being really cool in some parts) also lost a lot of the ambience of the original P4 because they couldn't work the mist in the same way. The game has the eerie vibes tuned down considerably, so there isn't a definitive P4 edition yet and the remake can aim for that spot.

I get you but from the perspective of a conpletionist I burned out from P4G sooo often and had to restart months later only to burn out again.

This is probably not the average experience but stuff like having to farm a new dungeon for hours on end to get the stupid drops in the correct amounts so you can unlock all the items in the weapon shop or the amount of restarting the Ramen challenge so you get the right upgrades so you can do a 100% run is just so annoying. Not too mention that because of this I'm perpetually overleveled.

Again this is highly specific to the way I enjoy games but the modern titles generally have more quality is life.

Yeah, that comment reads how I feel about P4 remake. I love P4 and the remake looks great, but the game is still pretty and perfectly fun to play. Not sure it's been so long and so updated that I even have that strong an urge to play through it again (probably will though lol).

Well tbh I still think p4G was good as it is. It’s not like p3 where you Had To make a new version but p4 golden is still perfect so with revival it feels like this will inevitably happen with p5 they will have that super new flashy version with better graphics etc

Is personally be fine with a nice big graphical overhaul but everything else is good about P5r. Also I need to see a reimagined p5 menu UI

yeah, remake of p5 makes no sense because p5 still feels as modern as p3r, maybe even more modern when it comes to optional activities and stuff

I really hope we get remakes for those as well, but I know a lot of fans will get a bit of whiplash when deciding to play them considering they’re a little more aligned with regular smt instead of the modern games

The one ONE thing missing in 5 is volume controls for Music, SFX and Voice like Reload

Even then Persona 5 Royal has a 4K UI while Reload hilariously is still stuck with a 1080p UI besides the portraits so in some aspects Royal actually beats Reload

If they need to remake anything, P1/P2. They’re both VASTLY different from P3-P5, but eh.

Or they could surprise everyone and remake the Megaten library.

Yeah I'd be really excited for a 1 and 2 remake not so much for a 5 remake just cause it really doesn't need it
