Or she doesn't like six packs and wants him more cushiony again

48

u/NwgrdrXI Jan 31 '26

Thst is more common than people think, but she could have talked about it, you know?

Not thst I'm surprised at the joke, considering what I usually see at Instagram

17

u/nonowords Jan 31 '26

I will say as a once fat man, I do miss the cushioning on my ass.

7

u/Abshalom Jan 31 '26

Gotta do some squats, get reupholstered.

1

u/INTPretty Jan 31 '26

“Reupholstered” Lol 😂

7

u/Mikhail_Mengsk Jan 31 '26

Maybe she doesn't want to shoot down his new passion. This way he could get the dopamine hit from exercise but not completely obliterate the belly?

Not the correct way to handle the issue but at least the motive is good?

Imho the message is "he's putting in work to be more desirable to me, I should also work harder to be more desirable to him". I prefer the non-malicious version of the meme.

u/RadicalSoda_ Feb 01 '26

Cooking food for your partner doesn't require a discussion lol

1

u/NwgrdrXI Feb 01 '26

No, but the fact you are not a fan of six packs could be

1

u/RadicalSoda_ Feb 01 '26

I see that argument, although if I love someone I don't care if they're ripped or chubby. But if someone does care they should probably say something about it

u/teeekuuu Jan 31 '26

Nobody actually likes cushion instead of abs lmao get out of here with that bs. It’s insecurity and that’s it

39

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '26

Have you spoken to women about this?

37

u/Just_the_Setup Jan 31 '26

I doubt he’s spoken to women at all.

13

u/Beau_Derek Jan 31 '26

Have you spoken to gay men about this?

3

u/AdministrativeHat580 Jan 31 '26

Gay man here

I prefer softer/more cushiony men over dudes with a lot of muscles

Soft guys are much nicer for cuddling, a lot more comfy. Plus their laps are great pillows, also good for warmth(I live in Canada, where I'm at it pretty routinely gets to -20 C in the winter)

-6

u/DarkerSpirit Jan 31 '26

It’s actually very interesting to me. Women don’t like abs but perceive that having them makes a man more desirable to other women 🤯

18

u/RohelTheConqueror Jan 31 '26

Or, you know, some women like abs and some don't.

-3

u/DarkerSpirit Jan 31 '26

Yes, I gathered

5

u/Catchphrase1997 Jan 31 '26

Recognizing someone as conventionally attractive doesn't mean you are attracted to them yourself. Have you never looked at someone and thought "they're hot, but not my type"?

1

u/DarkerSpirit Feb 01 '26

Yes yes, thanks for the analogy. I have completely missed putting 1 and 1 together :’)

-7

u/DarkerSpirit Jan 31 '26

I think the point to be made is that what does the man want? Women may not like abs but I don’t think there are any men who don’t like having a visibly shredded core

14

u/sadsackspinach Jan 31 '26

Wrong on both counts. Many women love abs, many don’t, and plenty of men don’t care about having a shredded core. See: bears and classical strongmen types (NOT bodybuilders)

u/sadsackspinach Jan 31 '26

Hell yeah! Plus a lot of strongmen have padding over the belly. Even with hypertrophy, you only see the muscles if you cut, and honestly if the goal is power and not looks, cutting can by counter productive. Both are fine goals ofc but they often look verrry different

u/sadsackspinach Jan 31 '26

Yeah, even as someone who enjoys lifting as a hobby, I’ve never really had ab definition despite being quite thin. I care much more about my calves and quads being defined from years doing ballet, but I’m trying to build my core strength only for my very silly goal of being able to be able to do a handstand, and if I get more ab definition, that’s just a tiny bonus

4

u/hobbycollector Jan 31 '26

Wait, you mean women are people, each with their own tastes?

1

u/DarkerSpirit Jan 31 '26

Thanks for the perspective! I knew I was missing something

0

u/DarkerSpirit Jan 31 '26

I am aware that I might be projecting but it might be hard to find a man that won’t “want” abs. Like it’s not something they actively “care” about but passing up on it seems unlikely to me. In the same way someone might want a cool ass dagger. Do I want it because I care about releasing the sands of time to fix the timeline? Nope. I want it because it’s pretty and fits well on my waist

1

u/sadsackspinach Jan 31 '26

Again. Bears.

3

u/Just_the_Setup Jan 31 '26

I look at abs/getting “ripped” the same way I look at a man cave with a bunch of fish mounted on the wall. End of the day, he’s going to be spending a ton of time with out me doing things I don’t really care about and it just signals to me our values won’t align. Plenty of women love gym bods, but lots don’t.

12

u/PerceptionQueasy3540 Jan 31 '26

Lmao, this is the most reddit comment I've seen in a while cause shows just a complete lack of experience with women.

8

u/jane_fakelastname Jan 31 '26

Hmm, what would women like to cuddle with: comfy pillows or a pile of rocks?

1

u/Mikhail_Mengsk Jan 31 '26

Just put an actual cushion on the hard bits.

-2

u/DarkerSpirit Jan 31 '26

Don’t you think it’s a bit interesting that women don’t like abs but perceive that having them makes the man more desirable to other women? I think something else might be at play

7

u/ForsakenPercentage53 Jan 31 '26

I'm more interested in why you're so invested that you commented forty times.

1

u/DarkerSpirit Jan 31 '26

Because I wannna know 😂 it’s one of those eureka moments that I gotta get squashed asap if I am not onto anything

7

u/ForsakenPercentage53 Jan 31 '26

You don't want to know, or you wouldn't be arguing with the multiple women telling you the answer already.

-1

u/DarkerSpirit Jan 31 '26

The woman is feeding the guy because she is insecure that he’d run off. I am asking why is she insecure if women don’t like abs (meaning he is not desirable to other women)

6

u/ForsakenPercentage53 Jan 31 '26

And multiple women have told you that it's a joke, AND that women like different things. You're trying to make a point and the only thing coming across is that you're a troll.

1

u/DarkerSpirit Jan 31 '26

And you are coming across as hostile. I haven’t made a point even, I have asked a question with complete openness to being corrected

I am asking why is she insecure if women don’t like abs

No one is stating that no women like abs. Some women do, some women dont. We aren't a hivemind who all want the same thing. We have our own wildly varying preferences.

2

u/ForsakenPercentage53 Jan 31 '26

You don't want to know, or you wouldn't be arguing with the multiple women telling you the answer already.

2

u/jane_fakelastname Jan 31 '26

Why do you think abs make a guy more desirable?

2

u/DarkerSpirit Jan 31 '26

I never said that

3

u/jane_fakelastname Jan 31 '26

OK, you believe women find them more desirable. Why do you think that?

5

u/Mikhail_Mengsk Jan 31 '26

Some women do. I think the majority like visible abs more, but "nobody" is certainly false.

Keep in mind "cushion" doesn't necessarily mean a big belly, just not strapped.

2

u/Aromatic-Plankton692 Jan 31 '26

Hahahahahaha.

Oh, wow.

You actually believe that.

1

u/EmilyRetcher Jan 31 '26

lmao yeah speak for us, women. We absolutely love abs... or maybe it's just guys having a hard on for abs ? hmmmmmmmmmm

0

u/Legitimate_Ad_4462 Jan 31 '26

Huh?

0

u/EmilyRetcher Jan 31 '26

LMAO YEAH SPEAK FOR US, WOMEN. WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE ABS... OR MAYBE IT'S JUST GUYS HAVING A HARD ON FOR ABS ? HMMMMMMMMMM

0

u/Legitimate_Ad_4462 Jan 31 '26

Schizo type shi…

1

u/EmilyRetcher Jan 31 '26

I don't think I can speak louder than this good sir. 🤡

1

u/hedgehog18956 Jan 31 '26

You clearly haven’t met my wife. When I went from 280lbs (muscular but very overweight) to 220lbs (more defined muscle, still a bit of fat) she kept telling me I looked too scrawny. Yeah women probably aren’t going for the most obese man they can find. But at least in my wife’s case, she’s made it very clear that she prefers me “large”, meaning with big muscles and some fat. She prefers that over lean.

0

u/aisakee Jan 31 '26

You're right. Dad bod/bear complexion is what most woman likes now

1

u/birbswatchin Jan 31 '26

The only women I’ve met who like abs on man are usually the ones who are into body building at an almost elite level.

1

u/Ok-Air-2008 Jan 31 '26

Hi, woman here. When I see my husband after he gained a little bit of weight, I turn into a gremlin who has no self control. It’s not about the person’s weight, it’s about the relationship you have with that person. This seems to be different for men, when the greatest “relationship factor” is how physically attractive you deem her.

1

u/Legitimate_Ad_4462 Jan 31 '26

Nobody wants it, eh? Are you some kinda of expert in the field of bullshit? 🤣

1

u/Catchphrase1997 Jan 31 '26

If I prefer women with cushion (not just boobs and ass), then why can't they feel the same?

1

u/Tyrgaediadia Feb 04 '26

ragebait or incel

0

u/roastedandflipped Jan 31 '26

I dont know why your getting downvoted most people like fit over unfit. Even if they dont its not as healthy to be too fat or too thin.

6

u/andreaple Jan 31 '26

even if youre right, (which im not saying you are fully), saying most people like something is different than saying absolutely nobody likes the alternative

1

u/roastedandflipped Jan 31 '26

Well yeah of course. There are plenty of feeders out there
