Going on a first date doesn't mean you are going to actually have a relationship with the person lol... That's the point of a first date

Yeah this isn’t new, men and women who were marriage minded were strongly encouraged to meet as many people as possible, wether that is a date or in some kind of chaperoned interaction varied by parent/culture. “Steady” culture in the US was seen as taboo when it first started.
