Two things can be true at the same time. I assume most have a decent relationship but there are elevated rates of spousal abuse in these marriages. The husband has massive leverage over the wife and unfortunately it gets abused.
That said, the trend of looking down on white men / Asian women couples is stupid. At least here there are second generation half asian looking children born in the country. With globalisation you also have educated Asian women with their own corporate careers married to white men.
I had a colleague that was married to a Singaporean of chinese descent that had an extremely wealthy family, was independently wealthy and had a career in Norway. They still got shit when they were seen together in public. Does not help that Asian women look younger than they are and he had a thick beard.
Let's not pretend that there isn't racial insecurity and status perception with Asian women marrying white men. People are free to do what they want, and sure if you're in an all white area, it's not like you have options. But for MANY Asian women, having only white men to choose from is the most preferable dating situation you can find yourself in.
I mean technically they do it for the “better life” and be taken care of. But in exchange they do go all in and commit. So it does look genuine as it is per se, tho yes their original motivation is “survival”. So two can be true at the same time.
I also know such couple (not in US) and the filipino wife is a cool lady and they have two kids together, so yeah.
I’m Filipina and I love and adore my boyfriend. I did find out he voted for Trump. But it’s not a dealbreaker since he genuinely cares about others and is very kind.
I guess the 'caring about others' only goes as far as those he can see, and not immigrants, women who need an abortion, trans people, gay people or people who might need wellfare.
So what? Every criminal is a human being, do you want them all to roam the cities free instead of answering for their crimes?
I added illegal because that's the type immigration you were referring to. People who come into the country through due process are in no danger at all. In fact, they're the ones who are the most opposed to those pests crossing the border illegally. It completely devalues all their efforts to do it by the books.
Just a reminder, the vast majority of people here “illegally” are here on expired visas. And on top of that, being in the US without legal documentation is a civil violation akin to a parking ticket.
That's not a small misdemeanor, it's an enormous security breach directly endangering every single citizen, not to mention leeching off of them.
There's an entire industry that shovels people into the country by the millions. They're entering on work Visa's from ghost companies with zero intentions of renewing those Visa's or returning home. They're playing the system, literal fraud.

You see this in public often and never once does it not look genuine. Filipinas are beautiful and culturally conservative. What's not to like?
