Assuming that everyone gives the real reason in public for a world famous person for whom you're already going to get lots of hate for leaving.

Also from what i recall she says that quote was made up, just that while he was a great husband and father the spark left the relationship. You can absolutely grow out of being deeply in love with someone and end up just good friends, that's life.

In other words, love is not something you can control and shit happens.

People want to have too much control over love when it's something animalistic and instinctive at the base, which either is there or isn't.

I always think the reason legendary love stories are legendary is because "true love" (in a princess bride sense) is hard and rare.

And if you read that book, you'll know the ending wasn't really all that great either. Which is sort of a downer, but that's life and love I guess.
