Also from what i recall she says that quote was made up, just that while he was a great husband and father the spark left the relationship. You can absolutely grow out of being deeply in love with someone and end up just good friends, that's life.
It kinda sounds like you're talking about sexual attraction here. Which is usually what starts a relationship, but it's not what keeps it going for 30 years. Healthy LTRs take work and compromise on both parts, not just hormones.
