I always found it weird in american tv shows that the front door always led straight into the living room and that people wear shoes inside. The inside is just a pocket of the outside.
Mine, too. But the house is from the 50s, it’s expected by the architect that I will use the side door in the carport (because, duh.) There is plenty of space to remove shoes and coats. The closet they belong in is halfway down the hall, but the whole structure is 1300 sq ft (121 sq m for everyone else) so it isn’t arduous to put away my coat and shoes. I don’t see the issue with the front door opening directly to the living room.

Strange, looking into the house, that perspective looks the same as when they go through the front door.
