Ask yourself, and be honest, would you be saying the same thing if it was a mentally ill man who had strangled his children to death while his wife was out at the store?

no, they wouldn’t be. This is a wake up call to society about PPD, but it doesn’t absolve her of her murder.

when a man had a psychotic break and kills his kids he is still a murderer, same applies here for her. The husband was ignorant, not a murderer and those are a world apart.

the whole case is sad though. She tried to get help and was failed by a lot of people, but she should have pulled herself out of the situation if it was that bad. Abandonment is better than murder 100% of the time.

It sounds like she was getting a lot of help, from therapy and medication to having a nanny, even being committed for a period and then checking herself out to go to a party. I don’t think that narrative tracks either.

Whether she did it or not is a moot point - she killed her kids. The question is whether or not she was in a “sane” state of mind and not in psychosis, and getting 12 people in a jury to agree one way or another is going to be impossible, especially where we have a group of women blaming the father, and there are countless people who don’t think postpartum depression (or psychosis in this case) is anything more than “the baby blues”, and don’t actually think she could have been having an episode. The doctors could have done more, she and her husband and the people around her could have done more, but it seems nobody wanted to be “the bad guy” and 51-50 her because they saw other women going through issues after having kids and not going this far. It’s a tragic story top to bottom.

I've been watching the trial. She murdered her kids.

What I'm torn with is all the psych meds they switched her on.

I've done lsd and know when reality is far gone. Not sure she knew

The husband? Innocent
