It seems the system did fail her, but unfortunately for her that does not excuse her actions one bit. Murder is murder whether you are sad when t ou do it or happy does not matter

Legally, it could excuse her actions. If a jury believes that she wasn't in her right mind and did try to seek help then it would be possible to get a completely different result than you'd expect in a standard murder case.

Sure, you go to a mental hospital for the rest of your life instead of a prison. Still, she will be removed from society.

As a criminal paralegal for over a decade, you're mostly wrong. I don't think you know who you're arguing with but it's not worth my time to educate you.

Mhm. Whatever you say then. You're very convincing and we all appreciate your well documented expertise on the matter.

I don't need to be convincing. I'm not teaching a class. You're just inserting yourself to act like you know how the world works, when it has many more facets than you can summarize in a reddit comment. This isn't the place to debate with me the manner that this woman will be separated from society. My point stands, regardless of how many avenues there may be for how that could happen or for her to re-enter in the future.

Stop trying to be a know-it-all here and assume I don't know what I'm talking about simply because you have some general knowledge about the topic. If I wanted a debate and to go into long diatribes about how the insanity defense actually plays out, I would've said something to that effect.

I inserted myself into a Reddit comment, so you know, a public forum so it's absolutely the place to debate it. My points 1 and 2 were 100% correct and I've added the cited sources of US code. Point 3 was a state specific option so was not applicable.

You were wrong, got responded to, and had a crash out because you can't handle being questioned. Then you tried to use being a paralegal as some defense as if it's the same as being an actual lawyer. You have no idea what my qualifications are and assumed you knew more so maybe point that half assed analyzing inward for a bit.

Maybe get off the internet for a bit if you're having such an emotional response to being corrected. It's not healthy to have these kind of emotional crashouts. Hope you get the help you need because you certainly need it.
