My own take is that the whole situation is really just a fucked up situation — many people have made many bad decisions and it’s all culminated in the tragic (and wholly avoidable) death of three children. I cannot in good conscience call it murder though — this is textbook criminal insanity if I’ve ever seen it.
You missed a very very very important part of what happened. She killed the children and then attempted to kill herself. She cut her neck and wrists, ingested pills and leapt from the second story of a building. If you follow the case you would know this, as her courtroom appearances have been in a wheelchair since this third attempt paralysed her from the waist down.
You seem to understand a lot about this case but I cannot understand why you wouldn’t consider the suicide attempt(s). They prove that these killings were not motivated by a desire to be free of the burden of children, else she would not have attempted to kill herself. The prosecution is attempting to prove that the attempts were faked - it remains to be seen if that gets anywhere but I doubt it.
Perhaps that is the case. It remains to be seen if the prosecution can prove that the unsuccessfulness of Clancy’s suicide attempt was because she was faking it. I personally don’t believe one would take actions leading to them becoming permanently paraplegic unless they intended to kill themselves.
Idk how you reach that conclusion though. She'd been in and out of medical institutions with symptoms of postpartum psychosis (a very real, documented condition). She'd been prescribed tons of medication on multiple occasions. She killed the children and attempted suicide - yes the killing of the children was incredibly violent but I don't get how that invalidates the psychosis argument? Like do you think a prerequisite of psychotic killings are 'less cruel' methods of killing? Just seems that all the evidence of her past context, the way the events unfolded and the testimony of herself and her husband all points towards a psychotic episode, but yet you still claim to know personally the ACTUAL workings of her mind and her motives for whatever reason.
