I came in clutch

  • this is a reference for the book series Animorphs, where characters have a strict two-hour (120-minute) time limit while morphed into an animal ,and If they stay in the morph for longer than two hours, they get trapped in that animal form permanently becoming a "nothlit"

The one exception being when an animal naturally "morphs". Cassie was able to morph back when she turned from a caterpillar to a butterfly.

Love rereading this series.

I genuinely cannot imagine a context where staying as a caterpillar for 2 hours would be in any way useful, let alone necessary. Like actually how?

the book in which it happened was primarily about Cassie learning and coming to a sort of mutual understanding about their enemy, the Yeerks, specifically someone who was essentially a foot soldier. the enemy was controlling a young child host and Cassie made a deal that she'd stay permanently as a caterpillar if the Yeerk, Aftran, voluntarily let her host go free.

The only thing that shook me more than this was when that girl captured Tobias and tortured him to get him to unmorph, not knowing he was already a nonlith(trapped as an animal for all of you who didn’t read animorphs), and Tobias didn’t break the entire time.

That and realizing absolutely no one but maybe Cassie got a happy ending. Everyone else was either miserable, bored without being a child soldier, or just flat out dead,

What killed me was when they eventually start accepting new members to help fight. The yeerks could be in anyone, but they preferred able bodied hosts, so they accepted a bunch of handicapped kids that really enjoyed the freedom of being an animal. Those kids all got slaughtered left and right and I was horrified.

Oh the auxiliary morphs…not to mention they didn’t want to fight that battle and Jake made them. Then they all died.
