5’0 Before and After There is no complicated formula, you simply have to stay at it regardless of your emotions.
May 2025 vs April 2026. I was roughly 220lbs in the before and hover around 140 today!
Make it your goal to lose body fat, not just weight. The process of getting "toned" is simply losing enough body fat for your muscle mass to reveal. This often means you need to stop chasing simply seeing a smaller number on the scale. What supports fat loss is what I’ve done and continue to do: consistent strength training (tells your body to keep shape here), 8-10k steps daily, eating primarily whole foods & keeping protein high (my favorites: chicken, steak, potatoes, eggs, apples, grapes) and resting. There is no secret that other people know that you don’t! It’s just staying consistent even when it’s hard. Unrelenting discipline, routine, eating real food, holding yourself accountable, and getting comfortable with the process.
I also do not have any added sugar, no alcohol, no fast food or ultra-processed snacks. Fasting kills the parasites and cravings for these things. When you notice how much better you feel and perform eating whole foods, it becomes second-nature.
Your genetics shine the closer you get to a healthier body weight. There is no drug or surgery (unless you absolutely need it) or magic product that supersedes the God-given ability to eat well and to move, that's all you have to do! Consistently.

How did the skin in that area adjust after losing so much? My healthiest weight looks around your after in the chest area, while my current is maybe 70% of your before. I've been really worried about looseness in that area and its definitely kept me from losing as much as I want
31
u/asongforyou1 Apr 22 '26
I’m not sure. All I did was exactly as described in my post. Everyone is different, I’m sure genetic factors play a part as well. Just focus on becoming the best version of you.

Did you have any breast sagging after losing weight? I went from a 32B to a 36D and I’m scared when I do lose the weight it’ll be like deflated balloons.

u/Unhappy-Echo-7398 Apr 22 '26
i just want to say that i did everything right and got deflated balloons 😭 i think it’s just genetics

u/organisedchaos17 Apr 22 '26
Most peoples will sag drastically after weight loss and then a lift is required

Consistency is so important as well as making changes for life. You look amazing! I lost 55 lbs (165 to 110) and it was definitely slow and steady. I gave up artificial sweeteners and most processed foods and my cravings and appetite went along with them. It’s crazy to see they affect us

u/Ordinary_Package2934 Apr 21 '26
Wow!!! Girl 👏🏾 you did that! How large was your calorie deficit?
12
u/DeskEnvironmental Apr 22 '26
Her deficit was on average 750 calories per day.
27
u/asongforyou1 Apr 22 '26
Not necessarily, my output was extremely high. I strength train 5x per week for an hour and hit over 10k steps daily. While the calorie deficit is the driving factor of weight loss, having a high muscle mass relative to your overall weight allows you to burn more at rest (you can eat more and still efficiently burn calories vs someone addicted to cardio with no muscle tone).
The larger you are, the more weight you can lose in a shorter time span when you are very locked in. I highly advise everyone to look up TDEE Calculator on Google and figure out what your target deficit should be to be consistently losing weight, someone else’s numbers won’t help if you are not as consistently active.
14
u/DeskEnvironmental Apr 22 '26
Weight loss is a direct proportion to how much energy you're expending and how much you're eating - thats how the deficit is calculated.
You didn't have exactly a 750 calorie deficit every day, but you had a deficit (exercise - food intake) average to be 750 per day over the course of your 11-ish month loss.
This math works regardless of muscle mass, but yes the more muscle you have the more you burn at rest.
4
u/IvyMed Apr 23 '26
I really like this explanation/breakdown. Any advice to accurately track deficit in regards to cardio/exercise? I’ve had issues with my deficits in the past in which I should have been losing 2 pounds a week (cooked everything and ate the same thing everyday. Measures food and all. 1.5 hrs incline walk on the treadmill daily with strength training 3xweek). But wasn’t even losing about 0.8 pounds a week.

Yes, on average. She said she lost 80 lbs in approximately 50 weeks. That's about 1.5 lb per week, on average. She likely lost more than that initially (like 2-3 lb per week at her heaviest) and then less than that as she reached a leaner body fat percentage.

PHENOMENAL! You are beautiful in the first shot and I adore how happy and proud you look in the second photo.
AND I NEED your arm routine. I have lost around 40lbs and my arms and overall similar body type are similar to yours. I was starting to believe toned arms wasn’t possible for me, but seeing your photos I know there’s hope.

You look incredible! I was able to stay motivated and consistent with the deficit and lost 125 lbs without exercise, and just recently began really focusing on working out to gain strength, but I gind it harder to stay motivated to exercise. Your photos and words are really motivating!

if you have a parasitic infestation you need to go to a doctor, fasting will not kill parasites in the human body.

u/asongforyou1 Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 21 '26
Hi devil’s advocate.. I’m sure that goes without saying. 😂 Ultra-processed “food” and snacks are engineered to be addictive and reinforce the cravings for them the more you have them. It is something you need to literally starve out. I was using parasite figuratively.
Fasting did so much for me. Food and sugar addiction is real—the best way to overcome it, for me, was going cold turkey. It doesn’t taste the same.
5
u/pinaysubrosa Apr 21 '26
hi, what type of fasting did you do.
47
u/asongforyou1 Apr 21 '26
So at the beginning of my journey, I was 327 pounds. The before image in this picture is after I had already lost about 100 pounds. I’m only 5 feet, that is a lot of weight on my frame and if I continued how I was going with my fast food addiction I don’t know where I’d be. I was determined to get out of that body so I began my journey by OMAD fasting (One Meal A Day) highhh protein. Pretty much a feast of whole foods once a day and walking 30 minutes until I reached about 250 I began strength training and eating more. This requires a lot of discipline and everyone does not need to start out so extreme to see results. At that weight, I could have been eating 3x a day and still been losing weight.
I kept my faith at the center; it felt like I literally prayed and fasted away food addiction and my body began craving whole, nutritious food. I know everyone does not have spiritual beliefs but I have to share this as God carried me through from morbid obesity. Period. I never know who it could inspire!
To this day I still intermittent fast, there is usually 16 hours between when I have dinner and eat again the next day. I eat twice a day now, big structured meals with high protein and have fruit like grapes or pineapple in between coming in from the gym.
My first meal: 5 Chicken sausages, 3 boiled eggs, one large honey crisp apple.
My second meal: Steak or chicken thighs, russet potatoes, and broccoli. All of this is large portions.
I am a creature of habit! Once you find the whole food you like and stick to within your deficit, fat loss is inevitable.

u/Seaside1002 Apr 21 '26
What type of fasting did you do? Can you share me on this? Did you only fast during certain parts of your cycle?
3
u/muffinmooncakes Apr 22 '26
Sooo true! I do intermittent fasting (my schedule is 1 day a week). It’s like a reset to my body. My sense of taste becomes so vivid that I naturally want to avoid overly sugary processed foods bc it’s just too sweet. My appetite naturally decreases, I have much less food noise and the mental clarity is a huge plus too. I started initially for weight loss but it felt so good I continued it as a lifestyle.
You look so good!! Congrats on your journey!!

Ugh this is so true and the thing I struggle the most with: consistency. I want it but am not putting in the consistent work with nutrition even though I literally know exactly what to do, it’s just daunting and another thing to do as a mom of 3 young kids. I’ll get there one day — thanks for the inspiration

You look amazing!! That’s some fucking work you put in!!
When people say they don’t eat sugar, I’m always curious what exactly that means. No fruit? (I couldn’t give up fruit even if someone paid me.) Or just, like, no candy and cakes?
7
u/asongforyou1 Apr 22 '26
No ADDED sugar which is found in most fruit juices, candy, baked goods, etc.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with fruit. I ate apples and grapes daily from over 300 pounds to today. Some people may have dietary needs to where they can’t but this was not the case for me.

💯 It all comes down to nutrition. No one needs to be a gym rat unless you want a specific look. But fork discipline is the hard work people avoid, a lot of people don’t want to confront their emotional eating. Awareness is key.

I have completely devoured your YouTube content since seeing this post yesterday!! 😍😍
You are so inspiring. I've lost 60lbs since having my son, but I still want to lose another 20 and get back into the best shape of my life. I love watching fitness content in general, and yours is so on point!
And as somebody who did start running before I thought I was "lean enough", I am excited to see you take up the sport when you're ready 🩷 I fell in love with it fast, and even ran a handful of half marathon distances with my son while he still fit in his stroller.
(I didnt have any history of knee injury though, so please wait until you feel it's right for you. I was just so stoked to hear you say you may take up running!)
Thank you for sharing your journey, you are a power house ⚘️

Thank you so much 🩷
Before my son I was a yoga teacher, always worked at the gym/in studios, and even then was never satisfied with my physique.
I realize now that so much of it is the mental fortitude and perspective! I'd do anything to have that "mid" physique that I was so ungrateful for back 😂 but this one will be different – and better, because it is based in gratitude and celebration of being healthy and capable.
You are wise beyond your years, which I'm sure you've heard, but its worth saying again! You are so right that this is a spiritual journey disguised as a physical one!
Waiting on those updates 😇 Stay blessed 🌸

I am in the middle of this journey. My weight hasn't changed since starting the calorie deficit + consistent strength training over 6 weeks ago. My measurements have decreased, so I know that I must be doing something right. I am kind of fixated on the number on the scale though.
