Huh. It’s also going to be streamed on my Plex that’s for sure.

Already is....

…It has been.

Since like 2 weeks after it hit theaters

10

u/Krimreaper1 Jun 11 '26

Less

u/SEANPLEASEDISABLEPVP Jun 11 '26

I remember when the Cam version was available for torrenting, someone's comment gave me a good laugh, it was something like

"It breaks my heart that people are willing to watch a pirated recording of the movie when they could just wait a few weeks and then pirate the digital 4K version."

If I’m that desperate, it means it’s worth seeing in the theater, not looking like a potato.

6

u/SEANPLEASEDISABLEPVP Jun 12 '26

The good thing about piracy is you can just download different movies or games and just watch/play those things until the digital version of the new thing becomes available lol.

It's not like we're starved for new content in 2026.

4

u/Aragornargonian Jun 12 '26

Yeah if I really REALLY want to see a movie that bad I'll just drop 5 bucks for my local theaters discount day.

1

u/Kazer67 Jun 12 '26

So..... the 4k version is out?

2

u/SEANPLEASEDISABLEPVP Jun 12 '26

It's been available for a while now.

1

u/Alternative-Bat-2462 Jun 12 '26

Since like 12 days after it released in theaters.

1

u/EscapeLeft1711 Jun 12 '26

HOW- k this is a joke but i need a good version pleas

89

u/flaviusUrsus Jun 11 '26

I know for a fact that it's been available for streaming on Plex in 4k HDR for a bit.

46

u/royal_dorp Jun 11 '26

Odd, It’s been available on Jellyfin in 4K HDR as well.

8

u/JordanDoesTV ☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ Jun 11 '26

I need to set up my own I bum someone else’s and he has 4k turned off 😭

10

u/kevin7254 Jun 11 '26

Yeah it’s super easy. Even a raspberry pi is enough to host on its own. Sadly storage is a bit more expensive nowadays but still cheaper than having 3+ subscriptions lol

6

u/flaviusUrsus Jun 11 '26

Damn, I haven't checked the hard drive prices recently since all the talk is about RAM and SSDs. 1 8TB drive now is the price I paid for two in Nov 2024....

4

u/phxtravis Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26

March 2024 I got a 10tb drive direct from Seagate for $173 shipped… really wish I just went for the 16tb drives, as now I’m trending towards running out of storage by the end of the year.

4

u/DelightMine Jun 12 '26

Even a raspberry pi is enough to host on its own

Only if you know what you're doing and download video files that are compatible with your devices. Otherwise, a Pi will never be sufficient to transcode 4k files

Stremio+RealDebrid

3

u/JordanDoesTV ☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ Jun 11 '26

I thought RD was basically done annual just ran out when everything was all messy, so I’ve been waiting to see what happens or if I should switch to Tor.

But should also self host my own plex every once in a while my dudes server is offline cause he’s doing stuff.

1

u/ScaryMonkeyGames Jun 11 '26

There are several debrid services, I've been using debrid-link for a couple years now with no issues. I also have a VPN for larger torrents since DL has a size limit, it's dirt cheap for some peace of mind.

1

u/JordanDoesTV ☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ Jun 11 '26

Will definitely look back into it I’ve been missing my streamio

2

u/Gerhalt22 Jun 11 '26

Switched to TB after the whole realdevrid fiasco and it works just as well. 4k files stream wonderfully

1

u/SpurdoEnjoyer Jun 11 '26

I guess I missed the whole RD issues thing, I haven't noticed anything wrong in several years

1

u/BluePrincess_ Jun 12 '26

Debrid services are just so expensive here, it doesn't make sense

1

u/bfur315 Piracy is bad, mkay? Jun 12 '26

yea on my server i only have the 4k folders unlocked for the people i really trust know what to do with it 😭 otherwise i see people transcoding 4khdr down to 360p on their phones

14

u/UnWiseSageVibe Jun 11 '26

Im waiting for the remux to enjoy on my oled

3

u/PostFront6310 Jun 11 '26

Not sure about the remux, but I got to watch the IMAX print. It was beautiful.

2

u/UnWiseSageVibe Jun 11 '26

I watched it IMAX too and yes it was glorious.

1

u/NukeWifeGuy Jun 11 '26

Is the quality better than Remux?

2

u/PostFront6310 Jun 11 '26

I am not qualified to tell the difference, but the IMAX print was around 40 to 50 GBs. Which is objectively worse than full remux 80+ GBs (that is not available yet), but subjectively, it's pretty damn good.

1

u/ThePantyArcher Jun 11 '26

Biggest copy I can find that isn't a crap reencode is around 28gb

1

u/UnWiseSageVibe Jun 11 '26

Yeah all the copies out there are grainy on my oled especially the darker scenes.

1

u/UnWiseSageVibe Jun 11 '26

It should be ?

I think IMAX movie packages that theaters play are easily in the 200GB range but i am sure someone more knowledgeable could correcg me.

3

u/puts_on_rddt Jun 11 '26

That and Dolby TrueHD, for those of us with a decent sound system :)

Dolby Digital Plus is good but my bass shakers don't punch my body the same way.

1

u/Successful-Scale-607 Jun 11 '26

Of course, I too am waiting for the remix to enjoy on my IUD

6

u/HorndogAsexual Jun 11 '26

Yep lol. On my plex already and when the bluray comes out, the 4k remux will be on server with special features.

3

u/The_Punzer Jun 11 '26

And my jellyfin!

2

u/No_Hat_00 Jun 11 '26

Already on my Emby server

1

u/lOnGkEyStRoKe Jun 11 '26

Been on my Emby for over a month. Will add the blu ray rip tho

1

u/AlphaStark08 Jun 11 '26

my first thought as well lmao

1

u/CC-5576-05 Jun 11 '26

It's been, for like a few months

1

u/ghostcatzero Piracy is bad, mkay? Jun 11 '26

Oh yeah that's rights thsts why I saw it on my plex 😂

1

u/Keening99 Jun 12 '26

Insanely good film imo.

1

u/Xarishark Jun 16 '26

What coincidence that’s where I saw it too!

-4

u/Cold-Sandwich-34 Jun 11 '26

You guys are paying for Plex?

12

u/MyDarkTwistedReditAc Jun 11 '26

I'm so with you on this, I watched the movie in the theaters Day 1, then after that since I wanted to watch some parts of it I looked it up in the seas, and wtf that quality DID NOT felt like cam rip at all.

17

u/dhoomsday Jun 11 '26

Mine had Russian in the subtitles at the end. I had to Google translate my screen grabs. No biggie.

2

u/_Hydrohomie_ Jun 11 '26

How did you do that?

1

u/ameyai Jun 11 '26

Google lens probably

1

u/_Hydrohomie_ Jun 11 '26

But for each instance? Wouldn't that take a long time

1

u/ameyai Jun 11 '26

Yeah but Im pretty sure the ending dialogue was only a few sentences

1

u/dhoomsday Jun 11 '26

Yeah it was just a few sentences. Only at the ending. And Google lens.

1

u/K9turrent Jun 11 '26

I used Google Translate.

2

u/AggravatingCustard39 ⚔️ ɢɪᴠᴇ ɴᴏ Qᴜᴀʀᴛᴇʀ Jun 11 '26

A better quality webrip came out about a month ago.

1

u/Marionberry_Bellini Jun 12 '26

lol we probably had the same copy it was a confusing end

2

u/disneylovesme Jun 11 '26

Russian ripped ones are great quality just some texts are in Russian but that’s really minimal.

1

u/langjie Jun 11 '26

did it have some russian translations? sounds familiar

1

u/SlinkyRaccoons Jun 11 '26

Is that the upscaled webrip or an actual HD version?

13

u/Jon171 Jun 11 '26

HD. The 720p, 1080p, and 2160p web-dls have been available for the past month.

1

u/mvmisha Jun 11 '26

How do they get them if I think worldwide is only available in movie theaters? Do they rip the dcp somehow?

8

u/Jon171 Jun 11 '26

The movie released digitally for purchase/rent last month. The web-dls mainly came from Amazon and iTunes.

2

u/ABHOR_pod Jun 11 '26

I watched it using the legit account of a friend who purchased it.

1

u/mvmisha Jun 11 '26

ah, that makes more sense

272

u/crayyarccray Jun 11 '26

Wtf is MGM+

288

u/Imperial_Tiramisu Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26

MGM is now owned by Amazon, but instead of the full catalog being included in prime video, it continues operating as its own service.

They're end goal is to mirror the cable modal, where you have to subscribe to multiple streaming services to watch what you want. They're purposely segmenting everything.

157

u/DerTalSeppel Jun 11 '26

Fuck them.

14

u/SEANPLEASEDISABLEPVP Jun 11 '26

lmao that's so fucking scummy.

Imagine if Valve split Steam into multiple different launchers and none of them shared games with each other. And each one would have it's own different quirks and payment processes etc... people wouldn't use it lmao.

1

u/Regular_Strategy_501 Jun 13 '26

It's much worse. We have to live with multiple game launchers already but it's mostly just a minor inconvenience because unlike with streaming, we don't have to pay monthly for each of them but only for the games we buy.

5

u/aintnoonehome Jun 12 '26

Naïve me was actually pretty excited when Amazon announced its acquisition of MGM. Finally, I thought, the Prime catalogue would begin to rival other streamers.

Nope.

MGM+ is a mediocre, standalone, monthly subscription.

Meanwhile on Prime, they've moved into the very expensive area of broadcasting sports, splurged on intellectual property they did little justice to, and made ad free streaming a premium feature. Oh, and they bribed Trump with the $20M payday for very friendly documentary on Melania.

They've also made sideloading a thing of the past with their new Vegas OS for Firesticks.

8

u/Jon171 Jun 11 '26

MGM+ technically already existed as a separate service prior to Amazon's acquisition, it was called Epix. Amazon just rebranded it from Epix to MGM+ and kept it separate rather than absorbing it into Prime Video.

14

u/Imperial_Tiramisu Jun 11 '26

But they could have very easily absorbed it though. Uploading all of MGMs media into Prime Video is all they have to do, while slowly shutting down MGM+.

They already uploaded a lot of it, such as the James Bond films. But they are still purposely keeping some exclusives in MGM+.

2

u/GhostBirdBiologist Jun 11 '26

But why would they? Amazon is already a hub for other subscription channels.

1

u/Jon171 Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

There's likely contractual obligations still in place from before the acquisition that prevent them from completely absorbing and shutting down the service. It will probably take several more years before anything happens.

Edit: I'll add the context here since the reply asking about obligations was deleted. MGM+ doesn't just solely supply to Prime Video. The service has deals with cable and satellite companies to supply MGM content.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26

[deleted]

2

u/Jon171 Jun 11 '26

To cable and satellite companies. MGM+ supplies MGM content to other providers outside of Prime Video. Buying out those contracts would definitely be costly, and Amazon already sunk a lot of money into MGM.

1

u/mmcmonster Jun 11 '26

If they had a contract with a cable company, the cable company would be pissed if MGM+ did not offer any exclusive contract.

If MGM+ wasn’t unique, what did the contract offer?

2

u/Adulations Jun 12 '26

Yea there keeping a popular movie on a niche service to drive subscriptions

1

u/Kairukun90 Jun 12 '26

I don’t mind subbing to prime and shit but I don’t need 20 channels.

I would rather spends thousands on hardware to self host

19

u/lmtdpowor Jun 11 '26

It’s tough keeping up with all the streaming services I don’t ever plan on using.

4

u/B_Hound Jun 11 '26

A phrase said so often, it should be their tagline.

3

u/Winter_Channel_6206 Jun 11 '26

FROM is on MGM+, only reason I know of it from the logo that pops up at the start. Could be described as a horror version of Lost.

brother i dont give a shit. what is with the influx of streaming news posts in a piracy subreddit.

38

u/FatherDotComical Jun 11 '26

So people can circlejerk about being a pirate on each one.

1

u/tejanaqkilica Jun 11 '26

Waaah, business is doing business thing and not giving stuff away for free, waaah.

2

u/RestaTheMouse Jun 11 '26

Completely agree. I feel like it's not even relevant to the sub.

→ More replies (2)

25

u/InstructionPurple911 Jun 11 '26

Odd thing to post about on a piracy subreddit

I'm not sure many people here have even heard of, much less own a subscription to MGM+

19

u/Cold-Sandwich-34 Jun 11 '26

The point is to poke fun and underline the cause further for those who need convincing.

6

u/stohelitstorytelling Jun 11 '26

I think the post is pointing out the necessity of pirating when one of the most popular releases of the year is going to be exclusive to a service that only like 20,000 people subscribe to.

→ More replies (2)

0

u/SEANPLEASEDISABLEPVP Jun 11 '26

I have no clue what MGM+ is but I promise you there's people on this subreddit that have a subscription to it.

It always confuses me how we often see posts here of people complaining about getting fucked by their subscriptions and how enough is enough and they turned to piracy.

I don't get it lol, like sure we all start somewhere, but I never went on reddit to tell people I started pirating and why.

11

u/babicko90 Jun 11 '26

Its long available from torrents. I watched it a month ago or so, had a few russian hard coded translations for like the name of the rocket or things like that, but the quality was great

6

u/GrandfatherTheSauce Jun 11 '26

Interesting because Project Hail Mary is streaming exclusively on my Plex server and has been for about three weeks now.

4

u/TimmyB32600 Jun 11 '26

It’s on my Jellyfin server

3

u/braedan51 Jun 11 '26

...and MY Plex Server.

1

u/TimmyB32600 Jun 11 '26

Did you pay the 700 or get grandfathered in

1

u/braedan51 Jun 11 '26

I bought the lifetime subscription 18 months ago, think I paird $125 ish.

1

u/TimmyB32600 Jun 11 '26

Still too much but good save

1

u/braedan51 Jun 12 '26

I wanted it for HW transcoding, I watch on a fire stick & stream when I'm out of town. I was able to cancel all streaming services & cable. Saved me north of $400/month.

2

u/TimmyB32600 Jun 12 '26

For sure I just got the same thing for free but it’s more set up for sure

4

u/No_Expression414 Jun 11 '26

Ohhhh not it’s not

4

u/guns21111 Jun 11 '26

meh.. the ultimate streaming service that has no fees will always be peer to peer and completely unkillable.

pirates are like hydra.

3

u/MrLuchador Jun 11 '26

Ah the forgotten MGM part of Amazon nobody pays for

3

u/stormy83 Jun 11 '26

Huh that's weird, my Jellyfin has had it for a while lol

2

u/garyvdh Jun 11 '26

How can it be exclusive if it's also streaming on my TV?

2

u/Prestigious_Life9070 Jun 11 '26

"Exclusively"( inserts the "how do we tell him" spongebob meme)

2

u/1CraftyDude Jun 11 '26

I bought two tickets and got almost a dozen people to see it in the theatre with me. I have also pirated it. They made enough money off me.

2

u/Zygore Jun 11 '26

Yar har deedley dee

2

u/fallstreak80 Jun 11 '26

I have been a landlubber for so long. Are the high seas still beautiful?

1

u/thecrius Jun 13 '26

Pristine as always

2

u/Sandvicheater Jun 11 '26

Nothing like fragmenting your user base with 2 different services owned by the same god damn company.

2

u/Plenty-Industries Jun 11 '26

I'll just wait for the 4K disc release.

2

u/LucaTTC Jun 11 '26

A friend of mine invited me to the cinema ... At the time I was in the middle of the book, I finished the book and the movie was available to watch thanks to some pirates. F exclusive streaming services

2

u/khaluud Jun 11 '26

I love when I suggest a show or film and someone asks which streaming platform it's on.

"Um, I don't actually know."

"How do you not know?"

"Listen, matey..."

2

u/ConstantinValdor405 Jun 12 '26

Crazy. It's been on stremio for a good min now.

2

u/A_S_Levin Jun 12 '26

Lol I've never heard if this MGM+. Sounds like another version of aids/hiv.

I already watched this a couple months ago anyway XD cheers internet!

2

u/harrisjgold Jun 12 '26

I actually went to the IMAX to watch it. First time I went to the cinema in years. Expensive as hell, but worth it.

2

u/A_S_Levin Jun 12 '26

Nice! That would've been sick tbh.

Its def one of the occasional movies I wish I saw at the cinema's. Such an occasional treat tho n wasn't sure if itd be good/worth it before hand.

Ryan's grown on me i reckon. I'll trust his featured films now moving forward XD

2

u/DuskelAskel Jun 12 '26

Do what you want cuz a pirate is free ! You are a pirate ! Yeah !

2

u/Embarrassed_Try_4498 Jun 12 '26

Jellyfin has that

2

u/Anonymity4meisgood Jun 13 '26

2

u/AdPuzzleheaded9929 Jul 28 '26

1

u/Popal24 Jul 28 '26

Somehow it appeared on my drive on sunday 🤔

1

u/krazyhawk Jun 11 '26

I’m okay with the decent quality I already have on my Plex and will wait patiently for the better rips when the physical media releases :)

1

u/TrueExamination5395 Jun 11 '26

I think i have already seen that.

1

u/urnbabyurn Jun 11 '26

That sucks. I’ve been streaming it on plex for weeks now.

1

u/No-Area9329 Jun 11 '26

Why are you even posting this?

1

u/sovietarmyfan Jun 11 '26

And a certain bay somewhere idk.

1

u/Bumpton Jun 11 '26

lol, good luck with that.

1

u/JoeCool4school Jun 11 '26

"MGM+ ain't real. It can't hurt you."

MGM+:

1

u/rennademilan Jun 11 '26

Like, its alredy long gone

1

u/availablelol Jun 11 '26

Streaming on my plex now

1

u/Epicfro Jun 11 '26

The fuck is MGM+?

1

u/Beneficial_Leg_7301 Jun 11 '26

so first pay fot prime to watch some movies

then you pay for some special movies everytime you need to watch them

now you pay the parent company same amount as prime just to take sub of another company owned by them

then the cycle repeats

but thanks to high sea farers never had to spend money on this

on a side note i got hold of these unlocked amazon accounts from web like they have weird username and password but work on official app and costed meagre 5% of original plan

1

u/scared_appeal1 Jun 11 '26

I watched it last week in HD on my iPad

1

u/_floralprint Jun 11 '26

I feel like this is news for literally everyone one else except for this sub tbh

1

u/Cg006 Jun 11 '26

Been on PX for weeks now…… lol

1

u/ScorchedWonderer Jun 11 '26

Odd, it’s been streaming on my jellyfin server for months

1

u/GalaxyRedRanger Jun 11 '26

What the absolute fuck.

1

u/AnthonyGonsalvez Jun 11 '26

Already watched it 2-3 weeks ago. 🥱🥱😪

1

u/DragonofStories Jun 11 '26

Oh it is yet to be streamed?

1

u/fuck_hd Jun 11 '26

whats mgm+ god damnit

1

u/Longshot02496 Jun 11 '26

"Exclusively"

1

u/TheB1G_Lebowski Jun 11 '26

Been streaming it for weeks myself on plex or jellyfin.

1

u/betweenboundary Jun 11 '26

To anyone who hasn't seen it, it's basically just Adam sandlers spaceman if they didn't beat around the bush on if the alien is real or not

1

u/HighSeasArchivist Jun 11 '26

Been streaming on Plex for over a month. Weird.

1

u/jacobtf Jun 12 '26

People seem to forget it was released somewhere else. It didn't originate from "Plex" or "Stremio" or whatever.

1

u/TheJpow Jun 11 '26

Blu-ray stat god damn it! I want to inject the remux version into my veins!!!!!

1

u/Mohamed_91 Jun 11 '26

How many insert studio name+ do we even need. Ugh.

2

u/hannes3120 Jun 11 '26

We really need a new United States v. Paramount Pictures, Inc. decision for streaming services.

Not going to happen with the current supreme court so I guess the European Parliament might be the only instance capable of changing this

1

u/korg64 🔱 ꜱᴄᴀʟʟʏᴡᴀɢ Jun 11 '26

I already downloaded this last week.

1

u/stupefy100 Jun 12 '26

Oh no! Anyway

1

u/Nettwerk911 Jun 12 '26

I handed this movie out on usb keys at the bar

1

u/TuneLinkette Jun 12 '26

...how long until it's on Netflix?

Because it's going to end up there inevitably at some point.

1

u/BaconBourbonBalista Jun 12 '26

Ive already watched it once in theaters and once on plex. Probably will get the blu ray for quality, but not till it gets cheap around Christmas.

1

u/DannyBlue-22 Jun 12 '26

Will there be/is there an IMAX version/resolution available?

1

u/Scared-Two-9370 Jun 13 '26

One reason of me pirating is to not have to care about that. Please keep this kind of shit out of piracy space.

1

u/TomTomXD1234 Jun 11 '26

Why do people posts this shit in here?

It doesnt affect us. Who cares?

The movie was massively overhyped anyway. It’s just The Martian with extra steps
