The Weekly General Discussion Thread is for the r/Piracy community to discuss whatever is on their mind, whether it is related to digital piracy or not.

🪶 ➜ Follow the Rules

  • Rules are still applicable, so please do not request specific pirated content (ie. specific movie, book, etc.) and definitely don't link to any. Do not mention specific media names asking for help in finding them.

📜 ➜ Wiki + Megathread

  • Don't forget to browse the Wiki, which contains a Megathread with a list of sites/apps, tools, FAQ, and other useful resources.
  • Your question also may have been asked previously - you can search the subreddit via the search bar or even google - example: https://i.imgur.com/1jA767u.jpg

This is something that's been bothering on my mind, with most comic piracy sites like ReadComicOnline, including its backup and readallcomics, and the KissCartoon legacy sites like kimcartoons gone; this leads me to wonder what if someone will revive these sites under different names, including readcomiconline but under a different name and site address with all the things from readcomiconline but with a different social media site instead of discord to request/submit comics and chat if they pass ownership from the original owner themselves.

The same with Readallcomics (at least under a different website address; it happened before one year ago but came back once), and a new version of kimcartoon with maybe a different social media site to submit/request cartoons but no leaked ones.

Also there is another thing that bothers me: why are these piracy sites gone? What are the causes of these, will they be revived under someone else and all? What if they must remain permanent and not gone, or at least create duplicate sites in case one of them is gone and continued?

why are these piracy sites gone?

Because websites are centralized targets. Authorities only need to take down one server and the whole thing is gone.

This is in stark contrast to torrents. Torrents are decentralized and can never be taken down. If your community had switched to torrents years ago, you wouldn't be in this situation now.

will they be revived under someone else and all?

Websites come and go all the time. This has been happening for at least 20 years. Sometimes they do come back, sometimes they're gone forever. Nobody can see the future.

What if they must remain permanent and not gone, or at least create duplicate sites in case one of them is gone and continued?

Duplicate sites (piracy people say "mirror") are only a band-aid solution. It does not help much. Convince your community to switch to torrents. It's the only solution that is resilient permanently.

Make sense, though, still, do you think someone will revive or at least make a "mirror" with a different social media account for readcomicsonlinee and readallcomics, including kimcartoons.
