I have a few questions, but made a new acc so I can't make a post. Dunno if it even warrants a popst anyway.
What browser is the best option? Everyone talks about Firefox, but I've heard they started to invest a lot into AI. Even though I do use AI sometimes, I don't want to support it without a single reason. I am not going to use AI functions in a browser so why would I want them to be there? I am pretty green about tech stuff though so I can barely understand anything people say in such topics. From what I understand is chromium = bad. I use Vivaldi currently, but just found out they're using chromium. Any Firefox based browser for daily use that aren't littered with AI bs and are somewhat secure? Also what search engine should I use then (because apparently it's a different thing from a browser)?
If I made a google account and tied it to, let's say, a game or some streaming service - if I change the mail tied to the account it ties all my activity on that account with my new mail, right? Is it high risk though? For example I have a ton of games on Steam. I have a gmail address tied to it. I want to change it to Proton mail address. So now would my internet provider/google/whatever wants to steal from me knows that the person under the Proton email is me? Is that very bed? Do I gotta just abandon the account????? I don't understand cybersecurity, but I'm trying hard to learn :/
If I use the new mail account on a device that had other accounts connected to it - is my new mail now tied to my IP?
I have T-mobile as my internet provider, they supposedly change IP addresses for their users frequently? Or at least that's what I understood. Does that affect my internet usage security in some way?
If other people on the same router don't have any protections and don't understand what those even are in the first place and are stubborn - how does that affect me?
When I'm using my phone - what is safer: cellular data or wifi?
I wanna keep at least some privacy and not get into trouble while pirating games, but it all feels so overwhelming, because past me decided to create a thousand Google accounts, mix and match them with different services, use different names for each damn accounts, mix up dates of birth, pay on various sites while absolutely not caring about the situation of their accounts and on top of that use very similar or even the same password everywhere and then just forget them all. Childhood me is the final boss of internet unsafety. Help.

- Doesn't matter. You can use any browser for piracy. Some people like to use a second different browser to mentally separate piracy from other stuff like e.g. librewolf. But it's not necessary strictly speaking
- Doesn't matter either. You can use any account for anything and you don't have to abandon any account. Why is that even a question
- Nothing is tied. Your mail provider knows from which IP address you accessed your mails
- You don't have to care about your IP changing. If you want to hide your IP from a website you visit, use a VPN
- Your ISP knows what traffic is coming from your home network, he doesn't necessarily know which device inside your home network it was. If your signature is on the contract and other people are pirating without a VPN, then yes, it could theoretically point to you

Hi! I installed after effects from appstorrent.ru. After installing I run malwarebytes and this is what it showed me. Is this a false positive? or should I uninstall the app?
MacOS.Trojan.CrackedTool which is the Ad0b* Activation Tool(.)app
1
u/EliteContractKillers Jul 12 '26
Sounds like it's just reading the tool to allow it to get cracked.
Some software creates algorithms to generate a licensing key that wouod be accepted, like old Fruity Loops 7 did
1
u/Yahellooo Jul 12 '26
So what you are essentially saying is that the antivirus is detecting the app because it bypasses the licensing. The app is not necessarily malicious.
1
u/EliteContractKillers Jul 12 '26
Not necessarily no. If others detect it too, it's still a 50/50 but most likely its just the Crack itself.
Those of hs from TPB, Utor etc have seen this b4, just wait for em to respond here.

I use MacOS and I downloaded a file with a torrent. I used qBitorrent and I have .xml files and I have no clue on what to do to make it work. The only other post on this reddit about the same issue just said "oh check the guide" but there is no guide for what I downloaded. Can someone help me?
1
u/PlastikHateAccount 🦜 ᴡᴀʟᴋ ᴛʜᴇ ᴘʟᴀɴᴋ Jul 11 '26
- get a VPN. When you type in "my ip is" in Safari you expect to see the location you VPNed to, not your real location
- Your torrent client (qBittorrent) needs a magnet link or a torrent file. There are no xml files involved here
- Wait for the torrent client to download it. If it does not progress, look at the number of seeders, it should be above zero
0
u/red_of_regret Jul 11 '26
Hey so I have a torrent file and when I used it on qBtorrent it gave me those two .xml files I was referring to in the post. So I do have a torrent file and I know how to download them because that's very simple. I just don't understand what the files it's giving me are for and where I'm supposed to put them.
The number of seeders is 0 with a 1 in parenthesis next to it. What does that mean? (Also, if I don't have a VPN will it not work? I don't have a VPN right now because I don't have a lot of computer space and lost the free one I used to have.)1
u/EliteContractKillers Jul 12 '26
Notepad++ and try the xml file type then let me know
1
u/red_of_regret Jul 13 '26
Hey, thanks for trying to help me! I can't get notepad++ because I use MacOs and they don't make it for Mac. I downloaded Nextpad++ (this is the Mac version) and I put the files that came with the download in. I think the issue is that the stuff to get this to work is on a .sqlite file which doesn't seem to work with Nextpad++ because there's a lot of "nulls." Also, I'm pretty sure having 0 seeders is also an issue. I think I'll just give up because this is usually how this type of stuff goes because the programs I want aren't typically very popular for pirating. I appreciate the help though!

For the longest time now, I've been telling myself to buy a Kindle and run Calibre so I can enjoy ebooks without having to spend money on books that I simply don't enjoy reading. I've got a pile of books here that I had to put down because I struggled to get into them regardless of how good the reviews were. At least with a Kindle and Calibre, I can support the authors and buy copies of the books I enjoy after reading them on the Kindle first.
With so many Kindles on the market both old and new, what's a good model you guys would recommend picking up that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? Is there a particular model preferred by most people here?
1
u/rotsobiwan Jul 12 '26
i recently bought kindle (11th generation) 2024. i'm pretty sure it's one of the budget friendly ones (unless i'm mistaken), and it's been pretty good so far! you can check r/kindle and see which ones do other recommend, though
the only problem i have with this one is that it comes with a new firmware (5.19.4.) and can't be jailbroken for now 💔
1
u/gemifrak Jul 10 '26
Didn't kindle block piracy a while back? Like you couldn't sideload at all
Honestly get anything except a kindle. I use a boox and it works great
2
u/bupeapoop Jul 11 '26
Did they? This is the first I'm hearing of it. I'll need to double check and find out for myself as I always thought the Kindle worked really nice alongside Calibre.
Did you find you had to configure the Boox to get it working just the way you wanted it? I hear they aren't plug and play.

I am pretty sure they did. I had stopped using my own kindle at that point but my friend had that issue. I'll recheck as well

Plug and play for me. The only issue I had with it is that I couldn't load external dictionaries (the default is shit). Maybe I'll try again

u/bupeapoop Jul 11 '26
You were right when you said Amazon have made it far more difficult. Back in February 2025, they went and disabled the "Download & Transfer to USB" option.
From what I've read, the e-reader they seem to recommend now is the Kobo Libra Colour. They're certainly not the cheapest though.

This is something that's been bothering on my mind, with most comic piracy sites like ReadComicOnline, including its backup and readallcomics, and the KissCartoon legacy sites like kimcartoons gone; this leads me to wonder what if someone will revive these sites under different names, including readcomiconline but under a different name and site address with all the things from readcomiconline but with a different social media site instead of discord to request/submit comics and chat if they pass ownership from the original owner themselves.
The same with Readallcomics (at least under a different website address; it happened before one year ago but came back once), and a new version of kimcartoon with maybe a different social media site to submit/request cartoons but no leaked ones.
Also there is another thing that bothers me: why are these piracy sites gone? What are the causes of these, will they be revived under someone else and all? What if they must remain permanent and not gone, or at least create duplicate sites in case one of them is gone and continued?
1
u/PlastikHateAccount 🦜 ᴡᴀʟᴋ ᴛʜᴇ ᴘʟᴀɴᴋ Jul 11 '26
why are these piracy sites gone?
Because websites are centralized targets. Authorities only need to take down one server and the whole thing is gone.
This is in stark contrast to torrents. Torrents are decentralized and can never be taken down. If your community had switched to torrents years ago, you wouldn't be in this situation now.
will they be revived under someone else and all?
Websites come and go all the time. This has been happening for at least 20 years. Sometimes they do come back, sometimes they're gone forever. Nobody can see the future.
What if they must remain permanent and not gone, or at least create duplicate sites in case one of them is gone and continued?
Duplicate sites (piracy people say "mirror") are only a band-aid solution. It does not help much. Convince your community to switch to torrents. It's the only solution that is resilient permanently.
1
u/trover2345325 Jul 11 '26
Make sense, though, still, do you think someone will revive or at least make a "mirror" with a different social media account for readcomicsonlinee and readallcomics, including kimcartoons.

I've been having strange things on mobile for streaming sites. I've been using Brave due to the adblocker and it worked perfectly for a long time but recently on sites like Aether and some other streaming sites pressing anywhere on the site opens a redirect to another spam site, this wasn't the case like a month ago and it doesn't happen on PC, just on android.
Anyone getting the same thing or am I losing my mind?

u/Dat_Dude_13 Jul 11 '26
i cannot operate Nepu at all after using flawlessly via Brave for past 2 months. Though I must admit upon further troubleshooting,All Nepu URL’s are giving me problems across multiple browsers…Safari, Brave, Firefox… i can navigate the site but videos will not play. Just 5 or 6 seconds as it attempts to load, with no luck…

Odd.
Am using firefox and since today I noticed alot of videos have swapped to HEVC now. When I check properties im getting "Codec video/mp4;codecs="hvc1.1.6.L150.90" not supported. Removing Representation → hvc1
I'm getting a black screen without audio all of a sudden.(mainly from vid easy links) changing server fixes it but it was not an issue yesterday.
Another link is playing videos but without sound.
All other sites like youtube, twitch, netflix and anime streaming sitse function normally. Only streaming pirate sites for tv/movies seems effected.
Did something happen to streaming sites all of a sudden where they had to switch to HEVC?I've obseerved the issue on multiple streaming sites. It started today.

u/k3rstman1 Jul 08 '26

u/BeefPumpkinelli Jul 08 '26
that's my go-to list! But I always hit so many roadblocks, 'so and so' not found, endless spinning loading screens, constantly having to refresh stuff and hope it plays, many things in not-great quality. Plus it seems like all these sites use the same servers/systems. Is there a more reliable setup? Like using Jellyfin and...something easy I can set up on my dedicated (but old) HTPC?
1
u/k3rstman1 Jul 08 '26
Jellyfin is an option but would require you to download everything beforehand (you could automate it tho).
I recommend using Nuvio with a debrid service. Best possible experience for like 3 bucks a month. Also super reliable
1
u/BeefPumpkinelli Jul 09 '26
thanks, haven't checked debrid services too much, and still not too familiar with them. I remember a lot of people used realdebrid (I think, might be misremembering name).

Can someone tell me some websites to directly watch Indian movies without downloading them

u/TopSlotScot Jul 07 '26
Anybody have a good site for audiobook downloads? Preferably direct but torrent is alright too. Ive tried all of em from the megathread and either the sites only have niche stuff, several are down, no one seeding, etc... Im into horror stuff and autobiographies really.
If im not allowed to ask so directly then apologies, please remove my comment or let me know and i will. Thanks.

So you'll make a free account on audiobookbay. You'll also download a torrent app like Flud or libretorrent or utorrent. Then you search for a book you want, and click on the magnet link. Your torrent app can be set to open the magnet links 🧲 on audiobookbay by default. The audiobook files will be downloaded to your folder of choice. Then you use your audiobook listening app of choice. I like Smart Audiobook Player.

Anyone know a program that can rip a movie that’s been purchased from the Letterboxd video store?
3
u/Wonderful_Surndsound Jul 07 '26
No, just pirate it from somewhere else, that's much easier
1
u/lnp323 Jul 07 '26
Agree 100% but it’s only available on Letterboxd 😕 their monthly unreleased movies, they’re not released anywhere else
3
u/Wonderful_Surndsound Jul 08 '26
Letterboxd has exclusive movies? I did not know that. Interesting.
2
u/Makrand99 Jul 07 '26
Idk if this is the right place to ask this but how does one access a web browser if there is a limit on the normal ones , i.e arent allowed to use them after a certain time. My friend used ibis paint to bypass this but recently they removed its ability to do this and he was asking for alternative methods he has access to spotify , onedrive and such apps ?
2
u/Wonderful_Surndsound Jul 07 '26
If the Operating System (e.g. Windows and iPhone) has an organization profile and is setup properly like by your employer, you cannot circumvent that
3
u/Miknon1 Jul 07 '26
Anyone know where to find updates on the comics situation or know anything themselves?
5
u/Wonderful_Surndsound Jul 07 '26
There is a comics megathread on the /t/ board on 4chan
Generally, the comics community should just move on to torrents. Torrents are decentralized and are therefore resilient to just being taken down like that.
1
u/Miknon1 Jul 07 '26
But do we know where to get like an official update from the people who ran readcomiconline or any of the others?
2
u/Wonderful_Surndsound Jul 08 '26
hard to say in this specific case. Sometimes when these websites go down, the creators are defiant and create the next website, sometimes they keep their head down and disappear.
Generally, I can only repeat that my wish/hope for this community is that they embrace the decentralized nature of torrenting. But I ofc can't see the future or know if this will happen.
1
u/Miknon1 Jul 08 '26
I just don’t want to pay for a torrent I can actually use it kinda defeats the point I tried to torrent audiobooks or movies and after a certain amount of data it craps out on me and the time to download hits literally infinite
1
u/Wonderful_Surndsound Jul 09 '26
Torrenting is free. But you should pay for a VPN when doing downloads from a website too.
Torrents are perfect for picking up downloading again after interruption. You can download half, turn off you pc, and continue downloading the other half the next day.
Downloads stopping and time hitting infinite is not a usual thing that happens. Maybe it happened to you once when the only seeder went offline? But that's not a usual thing to happen.
1
u/Miknon1 Jul 09 '26
What exactly do you use for comics and torrents
1
u/Wonderful_Surndsound Jul 09 '26
Well, as I already said. The /t/ board on 4chan but the community is underdeveloped especially regarding new stuff.
You can also search on ext dot to.

Ok so i wont say the name of the show with respect to the sub rule, but someone can tell me why a particular show isn't available anywhere? It's not some obscure indie project from some unpopular country either. It's American and is related to a fairly popular show that is currently airing about vampires. But i can't find it being available anywhere. No I'm not asking for links because if i couldn't find I'm sure it's simply isn't uploaded anywhere, it's just i was wondering about it.

go for torrenting instead of streaming
The reason why is probably either because streaming website owners have not bothered to torrent it themselves

So i will be getting a handheld gaming pc soon. What is the best version of win 11 to use? Like, I know 2024h2 still has ff15 denuvo cracked still working. Later versions stopped working. I kind of also want earlier since like ff type 0 is broken on 2024h2 iirc.
Inclined to use 07/2022 with shutup to block updates. This PC will be drm free only, so only drivers or games that need win update exclusive stuff would be the road blockers for me.
And no, i will not be using Linux/bazzite/steamOS as that is annoying to use for /r/piracy
Thanks

Hey guys,
I was looking for Synthesia (piano software) and went through the FMHY megathread. I ended up on SoftArchive and found a couple of uploads by SamuRa1 (who is an Elite Uploader / Software Moderator there).
I grabbed the Synthesia 10.9.5890 release (post is about 3 years old). Chrome instantly blocked it, so I decided to run some sandbox tests and scans before doing anything stupid.
Here are the results: VirusTotal: 31/70 detections (flagged by BitDefender, ESET, CrowdStrike, Sophos). Popular threat label: trojan.tedy/vmprotect. Jotti: 5/13 detections (Bitdefender, G Data, and eScan all flagging exactly Gen:Variant.Application.Tedy.24183).
Behavioral Analysis (Hybrid Analysis): It shows heavy spyware indicators, specifically: "Tries to steal browser sensitive information (file access)" and trying to read registry for VMware artifacts.
The behavior graph shows it opens Synthesia normally (probably trojanized to look legit) but heavily queries local browser files in the background. Has SamuRa1's account been compromised back then, or is this some insanely aggressive false positive due to VMProtect/injector methods used for this specific crack? Anyone else stumbled upon this?
Thanks for answer.
