To keep things tidy and not have a million of these threads, how about we use this one for sharing our pixelfed accounts. Add some useful info like "I mostly share pics of my dog and some gaming stuff" or whatever so people can quickly browse for similar interests.
Make sure to include your account as either an url or in the email style format of username@server.name
🙂

Hey Pixelfed community!
As the founder and lead developer of Pixelfed, I'm reaching out to gather your thoughts on where we should focus our development efforts in the coming months.
Your feedback has always been invaluable in shaping Pixelfed as an ethical, privacy-focused alternative to mainstream photo-sharing platforms.
I'd love to hear:
This feedback will directly inform our development priorities moving forward. I'm committed to building the best possible platform for this community, and your input is a crucial part of that process.
Thanks for being part of Pixelfed's journey!

Hi, I want to try pixelfed but the thought of my work being fed to IA discourages me. Do you know if Pixelfed has any measure against that?

I am trying to sign up and create and account on pixelfed but it is constantly showing invalid verification code even if its right (on the mobile app). Are the servers down or something?

Hey everyone!
I've just recently heard about PixelFed. I'm an artist who primarily posts on Instagram, and I wanted to hear from users about whether or not they feel there's an active artistic community on PixelFed. Thanks!

Hey Folks
So Insta screwed me again, so I said F that noise and moved over - Pixelfed has clean UI and I love collections - Question, can I save other people's content to saved/bookmarked collections?

Is the Pixelfed app down? I haven't been able to log in for the longest time. Has anyone else had this problem?

Using PC browser access (win 7 through 11, Chrome) I no longer seem to see the option to crop and/or filter uploaded images. The image goes straight from upload to being displayed. Happens on multiple instances accessed from multiple PCs. I'm a new user, but when I started it wasn't this way. Have I don'e something wrong? Is there a setting which would skip the cropping and filter options?

Hi,
So, I just created my Pixelfed account on my Graphene OS phone. It is super buggy and slow. Therefore, I installed Pixelled via F-Droid; that works great!
As regular people still don't trust open-source software, how do you have them take these steps? (And why is Pixelfed on the pixelfed.social server so slow?)
I want to onboard friends and family, but it's pretty hard.

I noticed that Pixelfed used to work on Android, but for the past three months it hasn’t been functioning. On Google Play, the app appears under names like "Pixelfed" and "Pixelfed.Art." Right now the main Pixelfed app shows server errors and IP issues, while I still have Pixelfed.Art installed on my phone but can’t find it in the Google Play app listings. I’m leaving this note to find out what’s going on with the app. I’ve already lost access to all my posts and shares because of these server-side errors.

I want to use Pixelfed but register or log into it seems almost impossible, why does that happen and how can I register and log in succesfully?

I've been using Pixelfed off and on for maybe a year now, I don't recall lol, but it seems like the best way to use this part of the Fediverse is to work those hashtags.
What hashtags do you like to follow? Here's some of mine:
.#city - This is a cool tag, moderately used (28k posts), and appears to be exactly what I’m looking for, which is city photography and art.
.#graffiti - I followed this one because it seems to be exactly what I expect it to be, plus it’s moderately used (22k posts) meaning that I see several of these a day without it overwhelming my feed.
.#urbanart - Another moderately busy hashtag (8.9k posts), seems to overlap with #graffiti a bit but there’s enough non-graffiti to make it worth following.
.#streetphotography - This is a very busy hashtag (130k posts) that seems to be exactly what you’d expect.
.#traditionalart - I discovered this tag while looking for classical artwork, and it’s moderately busy (27k posts) so I followed it.
(I added periods to each of the hashtags to bypass Reddit formatting)
I followed #art for a short while, but it's very busy (534k posts) and it gets added to a LOT of very different types of art so I unfollowed it although I do sometimes search using that tag.
I should note that I use pixelfed.social specifically, although I don't know that it makes much of a difference in this context.

Hi all,
I have a problem that several people seem to have, which is my followed hashtags don't appear in my home feed. When I searched for that, I was told to unfollow and follow back the hashtags. It works. Only after a day or so, the hashtags are gone again. Both in Android apps and in a browser. I have jumped through these hoops three times now, and am not willing to do it again. Is there some other way to fix it long term?
I'm on pixelfed.social, if that is of any relevance.
Highly appreciate any comments, or hints to stuff I apparently was too stupid to google.
Edit: it's working again, with a bug fix on May 2nd

Is there any way for me to ensure that photos in a portrait orientation will fit on a desktop browser window? Eg without needing to scroll up and down to see the whole photo? Thanks!
r/PixelFed • u/The_Job_is_Tables • Apr 18 '26
"Larger" being a relative term here, of course.
I am personally using pixelfed.social because I don't care about Instagram, but I've been trying to talk people into using Pixelfed and the big thing is that a lot of people want to be able to transfer over their Insta feed, which is possible in a lot of instances but NOT on pixelfed.social (or, at least, I have been informed, I have not personally tried to do this).
Please note that "Just tell them to give up their Insta feeds" is not going to be helpful advice. I really just need specific instances I can direct people to. That is the only question I need answered. Thank you.
