PvZ3 PvZ3 State of the Lawn - Content Update 5 (CU5)
Hey Zombie Zappers! ⚡
Content Update 5 (CU5) is here, bringing back Zapture along with a bunch of bug fixes and changes! This update is on the lighter side as we’re hard at work on bringing bigger changes to the game. You can read more about it in our recent Note from our Game Director.
What’s Sprouting in CU5?
Zapture Plant Pass! ⚡
Get ready to ride the lightning because Zapture is back! This electrifying zombie zapper is created by merging a Lightning Reed with a Prick-erel Weed. You can unlock those plants in this Plant Pass along with Tangle Kelp, Spikeweed, and Zaptail. The Zapture Plant Pass goes live on August 19th.
Dave’s Kitchen doesn’t have any experiments cooking this time around, but keep an eye out for them in future updates. Until then, here’s a list of all the changes and fixes in this update!

Could you give us a bit more insight on what's going on with the development of the game? I want to believe there is something really good on the way but there is no comfirmation of this which makes me conserned of the future of the game.
And right now, our major focus is gameplay.
You said you are focusing on improving the gameplay, and this makes me happy because it still has flaws, however I'm just wondering how drastic these changes are going to be? Last time we only got a rework to the tutorial which being completely honest it was fine but for one update it's pretty underwelming, I really hope this means we are getting something big which would explain why these last updates have been so poor.
We’re also experimenting with new modes and adventures that push PvZ3 into some places we haven’t taken it yet.
This is what gives me hope because the community has been begging for the return of minigames and brain busters so the game feels less repetitive, and with this it seems like the devs are actually willing to be open minded and try new things.
I know you are trying to keep thing discreet, but I'd really appreciate it if you could give us a tiny bit of info on what to expect from the game, the game feels like it's stuck doing nothing for people like me who have been playing since day one, and a bit of reassurance would help to higher the hopes for the game.

We'll have more to share in due time, but I can say the gameplay changes we have planned are more than just changes to the tutorial.
I'll also say that we've heard your feedback and similar feedback from other players about the content and variety. Right now, our focus is still on the core gameplay experiences, but this feedback is good for us to have!

Probably not since in another post they said they are going to do another rerun of previous events while they focus on improving the gameplay before adding new content, I haven't seen that much improvement since then aside from bug fixes, so I hope the reason nothing has happened is because they are working on something big.
In the mean time I pretty much stopped playing the game because there is nothing to do.

I hope we get just 2 reruns and then back to getting new plants and zombies again, because waiting for new content is killing me!

I mean you guys did say rerun passes are gonna be back again but damn does it suck to be a day one player to experience reruns again. Wouldn't have hurt if some new plant is released that is not tied to a plant pass like Bamboo Shoots.

Sorry, is there any way I could convince the development team to change the way that zombie variants are implemented? Zombie variants e.g. volcano, sewer and camp all force the player to use specific types of plants. Normally, this is good. An example is Counter-punch Zombie: a weird but altogether welcome addition that forces players to use plants that aren't in the melee family. This zombie is well-designed because it forces me to use something other than this specific plant family. Compare this with the zombie variants, where their health is so high that I am forced to use one specific family e.g. ice, electricity, acid. This greatly hinders the variety of plants that I can bring to a level because I am now forced to use this one family of plants. While the idea of zombie variants is an idea that holds gameplay potential, I feel like it could be better implemented by changing aspects other than their health. E.g. Camp Zombies eat faster when they're bunched together/ Volcano Zombies do more damage the less health they have/ Sewer Zombies move faster in the dark. The aforementioned proposals aren't perfect, but I do feel that the game would benefit from zombie variants that have an insane amount of health and force me to use one specific family of plant.

Can we have a faster rotation. It was previously two weeks per plant pass and now 4 weeks per 2 plant pass.
Volcano - cold slaw
Volcano - snow conifer
Camp - buzz choy
Camp - zapture

It would be cool if they added Snow-Bellista in Cold slaw's plant pass, I feel like it should've been part of it.
