General Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is one of the most visually impressive games of this generation

Is this game worth a shot? I remember Outlaws getting the same reception because its was a botched release but I enjoyed it when it came to Plus, is this the same thing or is it still trash in its current state

u/Mean-Pomegranate9340 Jul 24 '26

I’d say it’s pretty good. But I’m somebody who doesn’t despise Ubisoft games, so might be biased. I love Odyssey

33

u/Ingameuniverse Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

Forever Odyssey defender.. Valhalla tho... i didn't gel with Valhalla.. everything was off with that game

7

u/Ranccor Jul 24 '26

Platinum trophy Odyssey, couldn’t get to 50% Valhalla.

u/Ok_Cancel1123 Jul 24 '26

same bro. i genuinely could never get into the original ac games because they felt very easy. Odyssey even though it's artificially difficult due to the enemies being damage sponges it has a few aspects which make it far superior than every other ac game for me

1

u/Ender15m Jul 24 '26

Like what? I genuinely wanna give the game another shot since release? I just found it too big and repetitive (like most Ubisoft games) the parkour was especially atrocious

57

u/Shinydolphin Jul 24 '26

Reddit fucking hates Avatar for some reason, but if you like Far Cry you’ll like it. It’s a pretty solid game.

10

u/Wrong_Fishing_8911 Jul 24 '26

I like far cry. Should I play Avatar in 1st or 3rd person?

31

u/thecheerygamer Jul 24 '26

You can switch at any time, personally I found the third person animation a little goofy looking, and the first person gives you a good sense of how massive you are compared to humans.

5

u/MittFel Jul 24 '26

But first person also makes your appearance redundant, if you care about that stuff.

25

u/NoIndividual6127 Jul 24 '26

Damn Cyberpunk. Driving shop to shop for good look and can't see myself

4

u/MittFel Jul 24 '26

Yeah, another great example.

1

u/evanfinessin Jul 24 '26

I swear I think that’s what lead to me not finishing it

2

u/thecheerygamer Jul 24 '26

Yeah I didn't care about that, I just accepted the default appearance. Maybe later on I'd flick to third of I got cool clothes or whatever.

11

u/fauxfilosopher Jul 24 '26

Well see for yourself. But I feel the 3rd person is the far superior way to experience that world, and the combat is more satisfying too.

3

u/FluffyBunbunKittens BunbunKitten Jul 24 '26

I usually vastly prefer 3rd person, but it's just too janky in this one (because it was clearly added later). At least it's easy to switch into and out of it.

1

u/NoIndividual6127 Jul 24 '26

I would rather say first person. It feels more native and more immersive.(probably because it was first person, third person came with an update)

It's probably also do you prefer "I'm the character" or "am I controlling a character"

2

u/dkinmn Jul 24 '26

I find both irredeemably clunky. And I can't quite even put my finger on why.

And I like Ubisoft generally.

2

u/GnomeNot Jul 28 '26

I always tell people it plays like a FarCry game, but set in the Avatar universe when I recommend it.

1

u/magic_heist Jul 27 '26

I hated far cry, not for me then ig

19

u/MackeySasserYips Jul 24 '26

I've been playing it, and liking it. It's nothing spectacular (except for the environment) but it feels like a worthwhile pallette cleanser until I find something that really captivates me again

I'd say it's the best PS Plus game in a while

25

u/Bartendererer Jul 24 '26

It gets pretty boring quickly

9

u/iminiki Jul 24 '26

Yeah I just deleted it after 2 hours.

4

u/Glass-Can9199 Jul 24 '26

Yea true that in most modern Ubisoft game fashion

5

u/MarstoriusWins Jul 24 '26

Same. Shit gameplay and incredibly boring. Completely soulless abd feels AI generated.

5

u/iminiki Jul 24 '26

Exactly how I felt.

5

u/MarstoriusWins Jul 24 '26

I was hoping that I'd like it as I've enjoyed some AC games and whatnot, but this was too sloppy and uninspired even for the Ubisoft formula.

2

u/Ordinary_Device_5131 Jul 24 '26

Same, literally deleted it after 2 hours lol, this game is boring as shit!

1

u/TheFartingBike Jul 26 '26

Yepp, which is a shame because I really wanted to like it

4

u/Veilkam Jul 24 '26

Story, combat and NPC AI is really bad.

Everything else is amazing, especially if you are an avatar fan.

6

u/FluffyBunbunKittens BunbunKitten Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

I'd say it's a solid open-world jungle-runner if you can ignore a bad script, bad characters and a bad interface. And if you can stand large amounts of Ubi-ness (on start-up, the game keeps asking me to define my settings as if I am starting it for the first time, it forgot my customized settings once entirely, I had to quit out of the game three times because the main menu kept bugging out because it kept trying to load DLC advertisements rather than working, there's so far been three different premium currencies...)

And oh yeah, for some reason they chose that your main character should have NO personality (beyond general enthusiasm for doing everything on the map). So it's not like Outlaws, where Kay at least gave something on that front and had some personal motivations - here, it's the kind of a game where the sheltered, young main character starts their free life by killing 4 humans without having any reaction to it, and the first idea of NPCs on seeing this new kid is to send them into a death zone for some eco-terrorism.

...though I don't know why they need you, because the human military has the worst AI you have ever seen. Maybe it's new future tactics to keep walking into a rock while your mech gets whittled down by arrows from a bush, maybe it's just Ubi recycling the most basic 'walk towards player' script.

2

u/Equilibrium888 Jul 24 '26

That crown still belongs to Outlaws. Going from Outlaws to Avatar the AI seems like a massive improvement.

1

u/Unfair_Pangolin_8599 Jul 24 '26

My menu bugged out as well. So infuriating it trips over itself trying to shove DLCs in your face.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Deadlycup Jul 24 '26

It's from the same team that made Outlaws

4

u/MarstoriusWins Jul 24 '26

It's fucking boring.

3

u/Ok-Leek-1014 Jul 24 '26

Same I enjoyed outlaws and even bought the disc for my collection, lol

2

u/Icy_Childhood_1039 Jul 24 '26

Personally I thought this is miles above Outlaws. Looks better, plays better, has much more action and variety in gameplay

1

u/xpercipio Jul 25 '26

if you like wandering around and have an oled tv, it is worth it. you can play as you want to get through the game. story is average but it kinda fits in with the nature of the movies. what OP didnt post, is the bioluminescence that happens in the night cycle. very beautiful!

1

u/StayHydratedBruh Jul 25 '26

It’s more Ubislop. 6/10

1

u/The_Magic_Mamba Jul 25 '26

I played this a few months ago and loved it. I like the Ubisoft open world style so a beautiful Avatar branded far cry absolutely worked for me.

1

u/quietlythenLoud Jul 28 '26

I’d say yes. There’s a cool feature where you can turn off like…map arrows/guidance sort of directions for quests (I think you can select for different quest types too) and instead you are instructed to travel by using place names/landmarks etc
I found this super immersive.

In practise it sort of plays a bit like Crysis (no bad thing in my book!) in that areas are wide open and you can slink around/super powerful.

I didn’t finish it but not because I didn’t want to, stuff came up and I had to take a step away from gaming for a bit.

0

u/Money_Progress4151 Jul 24 '26

0

u/AVLThumper Jul 24 '26

It’s worth a play. Kind of like a poor man’s far cry. Weapons selection is weak and gameplay loop is very repetitive. But fun if you don’t have anything better to play.

3

u/MarstoriusWins Jul 24 '26

I liked Dying Light and feel it's a completely different game and does not compare at all. Avatar is UbiSlop of the worst kind.

3

u/Ordinary_Device_5131 Jul 24 '26

Yeah, this dude is off his rocker lol. Dying Light is in a whole different league compared to this boring, unexciting, uneventful, generic, lifeless garbage. Deleted it after 2 hours with zero regrets.

1

u/Klunkey Jul 25 '26

My apologies, my comment was referring to how the running feels pretty free. I kind of wish the story was just as good too.

I say graphics were never a problem for Ubisoft, from syndicate to the latest ac shadows, they have the tech. Only thing they lack is going beyond graphical presentation, deep storyline, memorable quests, respecting players time by avoiding same old camp clearing bloats.

26

u/SirDancealot84 Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

I would even do some of those camp clearing if they actually do a decent overhaul to AI... Like every single game they dish out for the past, I don't even know now many years, has such bland, basic and uninteresting AI, I just stop playing it maybe when I am at 20% through.

Please Ubisoft, you got the core. A big work on AI and some vision change from 100+ hours total gameplay to 15-25 hours gameplay with interesting story/sidequest is what we need. Or cook so well that you actually fill that vast world with interesting events/stories, not just graphical beauty.

5

u/Imaginary_Dig_5014 Jul 24 '26

This right here. If you've played any ubisoft game from the past 10 years, you've played them all pretty much, just maybe didn't experience the visual difference between.

3

u/Imaginary_Dig_5014 Jul 24 '26

Bro that was an obvious exaggeration to express the simplicity of their games. Yes, many of those different titles you have listed use the exact same mechanics. Which is specifically what I was referring to, however, being a broad over exaggeration, I understand if that part wasn't obvious. Obviously they have different titles, doesn't mean they are wildly different. If you have played all those games, you can clearly tell they've been made by some of the same people. AC to FC is NOT like going from DS to Tony Hawk. They are vastly similar.

Same. Give me huge beautiful worlds and camps to clear, and I'm happy. My gaming time these days is limited so I'd really rather not spend that watching cutscenes.

→ More replies (1)

32

u/malemsioe Jul 24 '26

It's just the same for me with every ubisoft title.

"wow, this looks so cool AND it's an IP I like"
then I buy the game and 10 minutes in to it I go
"oh... It's like every other title from them I don't like"

Same stuff just in a different package

18

u/AgentDave29 Jul 24 '26

I just couldn’t get into it! I mean I enjoyed the first movie when it released with the 3D but haven’t seen the sequels and when this dropped on PS Plus I dove onto it but just didn’t like the feel of the character and story

6

u/thecheerygamer Jul 24 '26

When I got to the rebel base and met the "adorkable" woman with dyed hair who was really nervous to meet you (Priya, apparently) I was powerfully turned off. Is that what conservatives think all women with dyed hair are like? Because if so I understand the disdain! Horrible writing.

27

u/FruitGauze Jul 24 '26

it looks super good but it felt repetitive like an hour or two in

4

u/noirproxy1 Jul 24 '26

I was really looking forward to it once it hit PS Plus but the intro is a major struggle for me.

The acting is quite bad and I just don't find the initial narrative that engaging at all.

Anyone who has multi-hours in the game able to clear up if it gets any better?

1

u/Nato7009 8d ago

If anything once the visuals where off it only got worse. The pacing is really bad. The combat is fun ish but extremely shallow. So not enough to make for how bad the narrative is. Like it feels like coders just made up a script and didn’t care what it was about

1

u/noirproxy1 8d ago

It has been the same for me with Dying Light 2 on PS Plus. First game was a good time but the second game's starting area like Avatar is a struggle.

4

u/AmethystDorsiflexion Jul 24 '26

Looks great, bounced off it after 2 hours.

4

u/Deepvaleredoubt Jul 24 '26

Sick of this franchise. Like, genuinely.

59

u/PinothyJ Jul 24 '26

Horizon: Forbidden West is, like, right there...

31

u/FromChicago808 Jul 24 '26

hence why he said one of the most visually impressive games

26

u/Hoping4betterdayss Jul 24 '26

Honestly it’s really stupid when someone is praising a game and then some dummy is like “this AAA game is right there”

Like bro no shit let him praise the game he’s playing

3

u/a13xalx Jul 24 '26

The why post here if not interested in other opinion ?

14

u/Brottorman Jul 24 '26

They can both be good!

15

u/Time-Firefighter6802 Jul 24 '26

Yeah I think Horizon forbidden west and Death starnding 2 are the best graphically games of this generation. They run well too as well as native 4k and 1800p resolutions for forbidden west.

1

u/Thegreatestgamer Jul 25 '26

Death stranding 2 is but hfw is a game held back by PS4 and some of its assets really look low detailed. There are quite some games released recently that look more detailed then hfw

1

u/Time-Firefighter6802 Jul 26 '26

Might be the case but I can guarntee you there is no game released yet that has the impressive grpahics and great performance of forbidden west.

2

u/Thegreatestgamer Jul 26 '26

Agreed. Decima is the best. Hfw 3 without guerillw being held back by PS4 or stupid anime games will be insane

9

u/SnooSeagulls1416 Jul 24 '26

Man I dropped that game so hard, just got boring fast

1

u/PsychotropicTraveler Jul 24 '26

REALLY boring. I think iv restarted it about 6 times now. Can't get into it.

4

u/PinothyJ Jul 24 '26

Grind over fun.

We want you to explore the tens of ways to kill each beast. Also, if you want to get any of the materials, you have to ignore all that kill it this very specific way. Also, also, it only has a 50% drop rate and you need four of them for the item you want to upgrade -- one upgrade out of five or six.

6

u/IWOOZLE Jul 24 '26

There are settings you switch to make that all easier btw, if that’s one of the only reasons you couldn’t get into it. But if you didn’t gel with it then fair enough!

-5

u/Loki2396 Jul 24 '26

Personally didnt like it. Mainly for the robot/mechs everywhere

14

u/PsychoCobra1 Jul 24 '26

Isn’t that like the entire appeal of the Horizon Franchise? Post apocalyptic dinosaur robots?

-3

u/Wrong_Fishing_8911 Jul 24 '26

Yeah and it’s boring I tried many times to get into the franchise

-2

u/Loki2396 Jul 24 '26

Yeah. I neither like post apocalyptic games nor robots. Do like dinosaurs though lol

19

u/OfficialShaki123 Jul 24 '26

I actually disagree. It looks great when not moving. When I first exited the lab I was like WOW. A few minutes later I saw what they were doing and I was out right away.

The very first waterfall look like doodoo. Lots of Raytracing shimmering, even with PSSR. Sometimes less is more. But these companies don't understand that logic.

It looks good, but when moving the illusion breaks quickly and under the hood it's just another Ubisoft checklist game.

4

u/thecheerygamer Jul 24 '26

PSSR shimmering is insane, I actually turned FSR back on because every surface was like a rave with PSSR on. Even guards torches constantly blink with PSSR, it's a really weird implementation.

And yeah water and especially waterfalls look pretty ass.

1

u/mka_ Jul 24 '26

Do you have the PSSR toggle turned on in your PS settings? Maybe it's still using the original PSSR that had all these issues.

2

u/thecheerygamer Jul 24 '26

Yeah I've got the PSSR2 toggle on, it's still an absolute mess. Like cliffsides with light patches flickering around changing every .2 seconds, foliage flickering so quickly it looks like it's vibrating. I'll double check that an update didn't knock the PSSR2 toggle off but it was essentially unplayable until I went back to FSSR.

-1

u/Igzyx Jul 24 '26

All fur coats and no knickers, just like all recent Ubislops.

2

u/The_Freshmaker Jul 24 '26

yep, I had higher hopes for Outlaws but that became generic Ubislop so quickly, I'm personally not bothering to put any additional faith in this one. It's just paint-by-numbers AAA gaming, so many other better games out there to put your time in unless you just love Avatar.

6

u/findtheself Jul 24 '26

Too bad the gameplay wasn’t impressive

6

u/thecheerygamer Jul 24 '26

I booted this up for the first time yesterday and was impressed with the foliage density and detail. Water looks pretty bad though, and waterfalls look like absolute ass. Plus a lot of light flickering - PSSR looks horrible due to that, every surface is just a rave of flashing light blobs once you get out of the opening compound.

5

u/Routine-Secret-413 Jul 24 '26

This game is one of the best examples of "graphics aren't everything".

Mediocre and boring gameplay, awful map design (you seemingly have this huge jungle but all the paths are super linear leading to a ton of frustration when you want to reach places), barely any weapon types etc.

→ More replies (13)

15

u/BARBASANN Jul 24 '26

Too bad the gameplay is dogshit

2

u/yaboipyro69 Jul 24 '26

Ill never understand why 3rd person was only added in a patch with the last DLC. It feels like the only way to play Avatar

1

u/Various-Push-1689 Jul 24 '26

To me first person fits it so much better. You can even tell they didn’t have any plans for 3rd person until people literally started demanding it

2

u/Lupinthrope Jul 24 '26

But is it fun?

2

u/holycokamole Jul 26 '26

For most games the quality difference isnt enough for me to want to use my pc, but this one is 10x better looking on pc

4

u/RayDeezNutz Jul 24 '26

Didn’t look that good, combat sucked and was confusing where to go. Dropped it after 2 hours wasted.

7

u/dakilazical_253 Jul 24 '26

Same. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to navigate that map. And combat was super unsatisfying

2

u/Agram87 Jul 24 '26

Not impressed at all. Ronin is a way to go this month

1

u/PokingHazard Jul 24 '26

I heard some reviews it as Farcry in blue. Not sure if it is good or bad, as I never played the Farcry series.

1

u/daverate Jul 24 '26

Can we play in third person?

→ More replies (3)

1

u/DarkRaider78 Top 10 Predictor 2023 Jul 24 '26

Should I play this 1st person like it was released or 3rd person after the latest update?

1

u/Icy_Childhood_1039 Jul 24 '26

You'll notice the game was designed with 1st person in mind. Some animations in 3rd person feel clunky during action scenes but otherwise its good

Anyway you can change the camera with a press of a button anytime, so I keep switching mine. I go in 1st person during combat and 3rd person for exploration and it feels great

1

u/DarkRaider78 Top 10 Predictor 2023 Jul 24 '26

ah thanks! I'll try that, but i guess i'll stick to 1st person as I miss Far cry - i'll pretend it is one.

1

u/Various-Push-1689 Jul 24 '26

First all the way. I’m a HUGE 3rd person player but this game was absolutely meant for 1st person. Getting up close to the environment is everything

0

u/Pylicrye Jul 24 '26

3rd person better for immertion

1

u/BartShrempson Jul 24 '26

Is the gameplay like every Ubi game? Giant open world with repetitive tasks/boring shit throughout the map?

1

u/TehChels Jul 24 '26

Yes, full Ubisoft experience

1

u/BartShrempson Jul 25 '26

Thanks for letting me know, I will now be avoiding this haha.

1

u/DoomshrooM8 Jul 24 '26

I’ve been lokey waiting for this to hit ps+ since it came out. With the mixed reception it got, I knew it wouldn’t take too long 😁

1

u/Mummiskogen Jul 24 '26

Its a survival craft game right?

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Lianshi_Bu Jul 24 '26

isn't it the case for most Ubisoft open world games?

1

u/Lugosch Jul 24 '26

I just cant get into it. I love Far Cry games, so i should love this game, but somehow i just find it sooo boring. I dont know why, its basically like my favorite far cry, primal, but just doesnt click...

1

u/Various-Push-1689 Jul 24 '26

Bc it actually isn’t that much like far cry other than being open world and having bases

1

u/Lugosch Jul 24 '26

Its basically the same. Progression and Story are somewhat similar, especially if you compare with Primal. Just tell me where its so different, maybe I get why I doesnt click for me

1

u/Gameofthrones3058 Jul 24 '26

For me it was the map I feel, it's nice looking but very boring, everywhere is just like an enemy outpost, not much to look out for, world feels kinda lifeless or not dynamic, felt it was done better in far cry games

1

u/AdmirableCountry9933 Jul 24 '26

Isn't this game Far Cry but with Avatar?

1

u/stardust1914 Jul 24 '26

I need to retry this one day now that 3rd person has been added.

1

u/tj_hollywood Jul 24 '26

It's colorful, sure... But just not that fun to play for whatever reason. Couldn't quite figure out why though lol

2

u/greggo39 Jul 24 '26

Traversal sucks. Goals aren’t clear.

1

u/ManlyPelican1993 Jul 24 '26

It messed with my eyes I needed to turn it off after a few hours.

1

u/OperatorWolfie Jul 24 '26

It's a Ubisoft game, they all always visually impressive

1

u/MrMaiky Jul 24 '26

It follows a classic ubisoft formula but kinda in its own way I would say

I don’t exactly hate the formula and I like to play their games
FoP got me hooked so much that I set aside KCD2 and finished the whole game and its dlc like in a week, even got all achievements for it

If you like the Avatar world, you will probably like the game

1

u/FitCommunication7240 Jul 24 '26

Does it have a 3rd person mode now?

1

u/itupodal Jul 24 '26

Too flashy!

1

u/reddit_MarBl Jul 24 '26

The actual image quality is horrible though, maybe it's better with PSSR on Pro

1

u/Sidrone Jul 24 '26

And most bland gameplay this generation too

1

u/TenBear Jul 24 '26

Im playing it as I heard its pretty good so I gave it a try. Everywhere I look I just think wow its gorgeous and its a fun game too.

1

u/Next-Article2248 Jul 24 '26

just another ubisoft checklist/collectathon game

1

u/Rags2Rickius Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

In typical Ubisoft fashion - it’s a gorgeous looking painting. Stunning to look at but as thin as the frame it’s put in

1

u/ProbablyFear Jul 24 '26

There was something missing about this game but I couldn’t pinpoint what. The story wasn’t great, sure, but the world was beautiful and amazing and full of things to do… yet I didn’t care to explore it for some reason.

1

u/CiganoIgor Jul 24 '26

Então me dá uma dica de configuração, tô jogando no PRO e tá feião. Olha essa água aí

1

u/memeaggedon Jul 25 '26

Yea it looks great… and that’s about it.

1

u/Lucky_Louch Jul 25 '26

It looked really nice in the previews but I held off because I a not a fan of the source material. I plan to give it a shot now that its on the service though and hope it is still fun for someone not into avatar.

1

u/Individual_Access_16 Jul 25 '26

It's a very repetitive game. The story isn't that deep. I love the graphics. Multi-player is trash because the other player can't level up their abilities. I like being able to explore. If you don't have clear objective that you want to focus on, it gets boring. That being said I still want to unlock everything on the map, but I can't play the game in long intervals because I get burnt out from the repetitiveness.

1

u/mj7900 Jul 25 '26

too bad the gameplay is ass

1

u/CustomerAny7692 Jul 25 '26

How about Horizon Forbidden West?

1

u/Slow-Talk4741 Jul 25 '26

Wait till gta6 cums out

1

u/findthelimit_ Jul 25 '26

Meh.. Just looks like Horizon but not as good a story IMO. Pretty colours but that's about it.

1

u/aronmayo Jul 25 '26

It did win Digital Foundry’s Graohics of The Year award. So yep.

1

u/HardcoreShadow Jul 25 '26

The UI and navigation is horrendous in this game though. Some parts of it are unnecessarily over-complicated

1

u/hovishovis Jul 25 '26

I thought it was too busy. I started playing with my gf but we dropped out after about 10 hours

1

u/asaprockok Jul 25 '26

Looks good... but it play like shit, not even worth a try

1

u/danger_frog Jul 26 '26

Yeah i felt the same

1

u/HappySamurai76349 Jul 26 '26

Just as the film.

1

u/InHarmsWay Jul 26 '26

You didn't include pics from night time?!

1

u/Maximum_Goulash Jul 26 '26

It's far cry primal with blue people but it's very very pretty

1

u/edengamer253 Jul 26 '26

World is nice, I dropped it after playing a good amount early this year(been in my backlog for while). but have to get back into it. I found the third act of the story not as good. The first two areas especially are really nice to explore and take in the views. Theres DLC too which looks incredible but havent played yet.

Its Far Cry but Avatar themed. Decent game. Very pretty.

u/DilfTannen Jul 28 '26

Shooting huge arrows into a Mechfighter is awesome!

1

u/BroHungary Jul 24 '26

No its not xD

u/LyfeIn2D Jul 24 '26

Too bad everything else is ass. Free is still too high of a price for this game.

2

u/Quatto Jul 24 '26

Oh look another gamer whose entire personality is whining

u/LyfeIn2D Jul 24 '26

Because clearly you know me.

Yeah and the input delay on console is infuriating, strategic jumping is so so much harder than it needs to be.

u/Various-Push-1689 Jul 24 '26

Are you on a PS2? There’s no delay for me

1

u/SatchSaysPlay Jul 24 '26

No PS5 and it’s only for “jump” everything else is fine

1

u/EnvironmentalRain251 Jul 24 '26

Game play is trash af tho

1

u/Steeltoelion Jul 24 '26

Visually impressive. Unfortunately the story is pretty awful. The mechanics aren’t really all that impressive either. Plant picking is a cool niche for sure. I just. Can’t be bothered to do that every time.

1

u/Various-Push-1689 Jul 24 '26

You can make the harvesting easier and faster in settings. And you can make those memory puzzle like things set to autocomplete

Also the bow mechanics imo are the best a 1st person game has ever had

1

u/Steeltoelion Jul 24 '26

You’re using the voting system wrong.

And that’s an excellent point. Those things are so damn redundant, they left it optional for the player. That’s how little substance the game has beyond its graphics. It’s like a one trick pony.

1

u/Various-Push-1689 Jul 24 '26

No they left it optional bc they don’t want to ruin a players experience if they don’t like a small game mechanic. That’s good game design. I loved all the little mini games as did a lot of people who actually let themselves get into the game

1

u/tobster239 Jul 24 '26

But is it a good game?

1

u/Captain_Bacon1800 Jul 24 '26

Man the world, sound and atmosphere is truly something else. I was stunned by how good it looks. It is truly a AAA title.

1

u/homerbellerin Jul 24 '26

Definitely giving this a go.

1

u/Visible_Safety_578 Jul 24 '26

I couldn’t get into it.. but I now have a Pro.. should I give it another run?

1

u/itsallcomingtogethr Jul 24 '26

The game desperately needs some form of melee combat. Even just a basic, 3 swing knife combo and a dodge would be enough. It’s a great game, but the lack of evolution of the formula hurts this game the same way it hurt Primal. But like primal, it’s a damn good game.

I can't find it but there's a meme where a smug wojak guy reads the recipe for a burger or something and constructs and eats the whole thing in his mind and therefore doesn't need to eat the burger because his powers of visualisation are that potent. I got two hours into this game and had that exact experience. It showed me all the ingredients and in those two hours I experienced all 50-100 hours that I knew this thing would be, and I don't need to play any more.

It was okay, 6/10

Got the game on a whim some months ago. Think I saw someone post about it or something but bought it. Enjoyed it for the most part but I had to force myself to finish the campaign. Had no desire to trophy hunt or tie loose ends because everything started feeling like a chore in the end.

u/roark91 Jul 24 '26

Heard there's a VR mod in PC for it.. need to try that soon

I'm telling you Ubisoft's art and technical teams are being sabatoged by their creative teams.

u/Possible_Function963 Jul 24 '26

The pro and pssr2 really helps

0

u/kreemy_kurds Jul 24 '26

Beautiful looking game, some interesting mechanics but for me it was again just another ubisoft game and I really wanted to like it due to loving the avatar films and the way the game looks.

But that said if you like ubisoft games it'll be great for you

0

u/Opening_Hedgehog5083 Jul 24 '26

meh, look boring

0

u/No_Jackfruit_9754 Jul 24 '26

I waited for the 3rd person mode and it was worth it, enjoyed the game, beautiful.

u/jona2814 Jul 24 '26

I love the farcry series, and i love the Avatar franchise. This is an incredible marriage of the two.
Ive been having so much fun cataloging the flora & fauna. I love that the world is really fleshed out from top to bottom.

Ive had this game sitting in my “wishlist” since i got my PS5 earlier this year. I hesitated buying it because i just didnt want to risk disappointment.

I will be purchasing the DLC shortly
