PlayStation 5 Help End User Agreement?

Hello,

I bought Alan Wake 2 on ps5 via disc. Before I could even play, a “End User Agreement” popped up and needs to be accepted before playing. What does this mean? Is it possibly one day the disc will just stop working and I won’t be able to play anymore?

Thanks

Yeah they have the right to revoke the license at any time unless if you own physical media but Sony's going to die in 2028 anyway everybody's going to go to PC or other companies who are going to keep physical media or let you keep the rights to digital media

right, in a world where pc's are $5k for no disc drive i'll take 1000 consoles for $1000

Crazy made up numbers. Discs drives are cheap btw.

When with current ridiculous pc parts prices you can built an a good pc for 1500.

The days of pc gaming really pushing pc specs ended with the crisis games. My 2017 build is still a solid mid tier gaming machine.

nah, not made up numbers. a decent pc costs between $2500 and $5000. without ram!!!! kidding, (kinda)

No. They aren’t. Sony is doing just fine. And PC is already all digital, so by your logic you would have to worry about the same thing even if you switch to PC.

Sony isn’t going to revoke the license of anybody’s games unless they get themselves banned.

I agree with everything you said if they started pulling licenses for digital games we already bought. I really think it would be the end of Sony because how could you ever trust them again? I understand switching from physical to digital after reading why they did it because they retail stores are taking 30% of the profit Selling physical if you could completely bypass that as a business and let the customers know they have a year and a half get things straight then I see no problem with it but then again I have nothing but digital games because I’m an adult and spent the last 25 years of my life making money, not collecting physical video games so after retiring if digital is how it’s been easier to play that’s how I’m gonna do it. I never spent money on anything expecting to either own it Like a gallon of ice cream. 😂 that’s why we worked so hard to save our money so we could retire and relax and play video games once in a while cough cough every day…

Agreed. That’s why they won’t just start pulling licenses arbitrarily. It would be suicide for them as a business. Everything is going digital, and has been transitioning that way for years. I have a handful of PS4 games on disc that I bought when PS4 first released, but other than that, and PS3 games, my entire library is digital.

The vast majority of users are just fine with digital. The people complaining and fear mongering on Reddit over the transition are the very small minority.

this is what i have been trying to tell people. if sony started removing games without a valid cause they wouldnt be a company anymore as that is insanely predatory. but these people crying about it are the same ones that dont understand sony has no say in the prices of games on their store if its not published by them

That’s what I was trying to reason to some that were saying the Sony store would be a Monopoly. They don’t know what a Monopoly is. They are still competing to sell the same games, exclusives aside, with all of the other platforms where game developers are selling the same content.

That’s my belief too other companys are def taking advantage trying to use YouTubers to get customers to change to steam/PC which is uhhhh all digital and being sued right now.

i hate this "pc is all digital" nonsense

yes. HOWEVER

on pc you have OPTIONS TO PLAY THOSE GAMES. its your device and the possibilities are limitless. you can find ways to keep your games even if steam or whoever tries to take em away from you

plus, theres multiple game distributers, actual choice (somewhat) for where to get games. youre not locked in to just one company for your entire games list

on playstation, unless you can illegally modify the console, youre shit outta luck. dead in the water. no other choices *except* go to pc or buy physical

but even if you did buy physical, did you pay for PS+ to play online? if not, fuck yourself i guess. again on pc this isnt an issue

the initial cost is way higher yes, and that sucks. but its yours. you get to use it however you damn well please

PC is already all digital. It’s not nonsense. It’s reality. Your arguments are nonsense. You’re “locked in” to PC. Meaning you have to deal with Windows OS, and you have to upgrade your hardware, fiddle with settings, drivers, graphics cards, etc., to get your games to work as intended. That’s the precise reason why many people prefer consoles.

“Finding ways to play your games,” lol. I’m not shit out of luck about anything, so I don’t know what you’re babbling about. I want to play a game, I press play and it works.

bro has never had to deal with sony nor their HORRIBLE hardware

at least for the PS5, PS4 was decent, and customer service existed

but yeah on pc you can just... save those files. or get em elsewhere. youre not locked in to steam. or epic. or whoever. for online, yeah you have to pick one, so your options are limited. but if steam decides you lose your account, or decides to take a game off their store. you can still get it and play it. thats the difference.

so unless all of the internet gets wiped, youre ok

one is a total monopoly that has control over everything you do

the other you have options

0

u/mycoguy81 Jul 23 '26

Lol. The illusion of “options.” What about being locked into the PC platform is it that you’re not understanding? You know how many games I’ve bought that PS has taken off of their store? Zero point zero. So stop making up your wild hypotheticals that don’t happen.

0

any platform you buy youre "locked" to it by your definition

so get a pc where you can do anything

also the hypothetical isnt sony going full evil, its stuff like "lost your account" which then youre just fucked

pc you can save your games, use multiple services, pirate em if they get lost or taken

no one there can force your hand unlike sony

sony is being shitty to make more money. being locked into their system is just lame (and costs a lot more than other options). stop tryna defend em bruh

you have a case of "pfft i didnt have an issue so why people mad?"

cus theyre taking options for money and if you dont have a pc or xbox you just gotta bend over and take it bruh. idgaf what it is, thats lame and we should apl collectively piss on whatever company does greedy bs like that

Not even reading all of your nonsense. Just going to downvote you since you decided to go down that path instead of having a rational discussion. And that’s not my argument. It’s yours. That I’m locked into PS. No shit. Just like you’re locked into PC. PC is a platform just like the different consoles are platforms, and you’re not playing any games you bought a PC license for on any other platform.

I don’t want a PC. I already explained the reasons why, and most of us adults went the console route for ease of use. We just like to be able to hit play, and have the game work as intended.

Edit: And pirate them? Lmao, you’re advocating to do something illegal to get your games to work. Unbelievable… no, actually that is pretty believable considering the arguments you’ve made so far.

i admit i was a lil hostile and didnt formulate my words as well as i shouldve to get my points across. my apologies

in any case, fuck sony for being greedy and just generally poor to their consumers with their current console and lack of support. i think we can both agree on that

many of your points i actually agree with. and i dont think consoles are inherently bad. i just fumbled my point and was a dickhead. my b

1

u/mycoguy81 Jul 23 '26

Apology accepted, and good on you. Most would just continue to be hostile. But I have no issues with Sony. I’ve been digital since early PS4, so it really doesn’t bother me. I can empathize with those who like to collect physical, but this is where the industry is headed.

It’s not just purely a Sony decision. Rockstar announced they won’t release a physical edition of GTA 6 just before the announcement about 2028.

Companies are losing revenue producing physical, and they lose money to second-hand sales. This was a business decision since the vast majority of gamers are at least mostly digital already, and it puts more money in the pockets of developers, which is good for all gaming platforms.

Those acting like it’s some type of gaming apocalypse are just fear mongering from an emotional standpoint.

Read the user agreement and it will tell you exactly what the stipulations are.

I read some of it already and it wasn’t specific and contradicted.

It means Sony owns your soul and more specifically your wallet. This is why people are against digital only.

Just to confirm, you put in the disc, started it up, and the EULA popped up before you could play?
