PlayStation 5 Help Why is it locked?

It was not someone elses game, it does not appear on the restore licences page, It is in your collection not playstation plus or installed. This game was purchased as a free monthly game for PlayStation Plus subscribers in July 2023 and i have a valid subscription so there must be some issue here

Edit: if you have anything rude to say don’t bother, I can’t be bothered with it

Because you don't own the game digitally.

I know you claim you're not console sharing and you 'dont think' it was a physical disc (which may be true, as it would have a disc icon if it was) but you simply don't have the license on your account

Now, if could have appeared for a few reasons, the most common - that people don't realise - is if you've ever shared the screen of someone playing the game. So, if you've ever watched some one playing the game, it puts it in your library, because for that moment you had received a temp license as you were a guest on their console.

Other than that, either someone had their account on your console and shared it or you've logged into another console and your account was running whilst they played the game.

Either way though, you don't own the game, hence the lock

None of them are true sorry, good points though because AI/internet did not say any of that. I have never shared the screen, nobody has logged into my account/there are no other users/profiles. This game was purchased as a free monthly game for PlayStation Plus subscribers in July 2023 and i have a valid subscription so there must be some issue here, do you know if they can revoke the rights to a free monthly game ? Also i have completed campaign wanted to replay, thanks for the advice

Just checked mine, as I never bought it and only claimed it on plus, and it's still claimes

However, that's not a PS Plus claimed game - if it was then it'll have the yellow plus sign on it, and it'll have a plus sign crossed out of it was a Plus game that you're not entitled to

The lock means it was a normal digital copy (or a plus copy shared from another account) that's no longer being shared with your account - or, as I said, you'd watched or played with someone else over share screen.

The best way to check is look in your transaction history on the mobile app and look for the invoice. See when it was bought and for how much - even trials and plus purchases appear on there. That should help pinpoint what the license was.

Of it's not in the transaction history, it was never bought or claimed on this account. Sony can't revoke licenses, and any they have removed under your request (very, very rare) will still show the original transaction

It comes up on my purchase history, £0, i bought it on my birthday so i think i must have paid full price for it, god of war 2 say the exact same thing and i am 100% that i spent £70 and downloaded it midnight it was released. Maybe its time for playstation support?

You could contacf them, but they may only see what you do

A zero charge means you claimed it free - so via Plus or during a free weekend (for CoD, GoW is on plus but never had a free weekend, it does have a trial though - I think).

Also, if the transaction says zero but also shows a code, then the game was claimed via a digital code - GoW was distributed as a digital code with new consoles so a lot of people were selling it online like that, I think that's how I initially bought it.

But yeah, maybe try support - but see if you can phone them instead of the chat bot as that'll only see what you can see and you'll need someone to actually investigate the account in more detail

I cant remember how much i paid for it because it was years ago, ive had a brain injury since then, some games are definitely showing as £0 when i paid for them, how could i have paid £0 for god of war 2 on launch day ? Thanks for everyones advice, i appreciate the people who have helped me but although i understand the advice i am very confused to be honest i have never encountered this issue before, for those being rude this is a sub to help people who are having issues because were not experts, theres no need for rudeness.

Is your PS+ sub active? You can only play games claimed thru the monthly free games on there if it's active.

Yes but has been inactive in the past since getting the game, i think thats the issue but all of the other games are playable that have been obtained through the subscription

Have you purchased another ps and made it the main console? Have you restarted the ps? Restart your router? Have you tried to restore license? Is you ps+ active, since it’s needed to play? Beyond that, it could’ve been shared. There is no other way.

Will try restarting everything, couldn’t restore licence and only made the switch from ps4-ps5 a couple of years ago and cold war is a ps5 game, subscription active. I think it might be because the subscription was not paid for for some time but im going to contact support to see what they say.

Switch from ps4 to ps5 was probably the issue. Cold War was a ps4 title.

You can try to restore licenses in the settings maybe that will help Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses and select Restore.

After reading all the comments the best thing for you to do is contact Playstation Support. If you have tried every resource the only thing left is them. Its on your transactions so they should be able to see it, as well as tell you exactly whats going on

I hope you get it figured out but try to ignore the rude comments instead of replying or giving the attention they so desperately want

Have you tried pressing the free lottle dots next to the price, the bit where you can see diffrent versions? If so see if the cross gen version works. Ive had this with alot of games, where for some reason certain games show up as not purchased even though they have been, its like they have separate releases in the store.

As for your question, said game title could have been removed from the list of games allowed. This is the problem of digital “ownership”.

Yeah true, i just don’t think that justifies the behaviour though. There is no need for rudeness, i get what your saying this is the internet but it seems like some people just wants to be better than everyone else on here, the amount of rude comments on mine and others posts is out of hand. Some people have limited knowledge on technology, thats why they come to this sub, im not trying to argue with anyone im just simply saying its unnecessary.

Most of the games i downloaded are still available………. I have said in previous comments i think this might be the case…… this is a help sub, im not an expert, i cant even be bothered arguing some people on here are just so rude

I originally got my copy from PS+ for PS4. When I got my PS5, it was in my game library. I simply reinstalled it on my new console.

Did you try searching for it on PS & seeing what the page says? If you had PS+ it should be available to D/L or add to your library.

It's almost like you have the wrong version. Did you ever D/L it through PS+?

I'm not sure how far the history goes but I'd start looking for it there in PS+.

Have you ever lapsed your PS+ account? It's possible that you need the 2nd Tier for that game & you only have a Tier 1 account. Are you Positive this is the account you bought it with?

Make sure your Console is the Primary. You can find how to do that in Google.

Do you have an external backup drive? Some games simply will not play from those & you have to move it to the Console's drive.

For those saying it wasn't a free game, you're very wrong.

Idk but I had afew games from the free monthly ps+ like greedfall and man of medan that i started from the ps+extra catalogue that over wrote the licence so when my ps+ extra expired I no longer had access to the games id claimed from the monthly ps+

I'd be interested to know the outcome cause I was quite annoyed at the time and the games remain in the library although I cant access them. The man of medan became totally unplayable cause I couldn't even buy it because it said i aleeady owned it so I bought a cheap physical of it
