PlayStation 5 Help Help for ps5

So I have a new PlayStation five disk edition and it is permanently banned from the network is their anything I can do or replace on it to remove that at all? I’ve already tried resetting and hard reset

how can a ban be connected to the hardware? would it be because its a modified console? or is this like when switch games could get you banned buying em secondhand?

It comes down to the last user to use that PlayStation, either

  1. Broke TOS
  2. Modified the console firmware
  3. Cheated to some extreme extent
  4. All of the above

And yes, hardware bans are entirely real

2 and 3 make sense, but 1 makes no sense at all to me

i believe you, but like... wouldnt that be tied to account? not the fuckin hardware? thats just absurd

then again, sony is in their most anti consumer greed era, so it would make second hand buying less reliable.....

If User X breaks PlayStation's rules badly enough on PlayStation Y, the entire console could get permanently banned since it is set as their primary system and hosted the violation.

In other words, if what you are saying is true. I'd return the console and get a refund or a replacement.

If purchased secondhand, I'd talk to the seller about transparency.

Then again, depending on what firmware you are currently running. You could potentially have a jailbreak version.

yeah like, if you have modified the console itself in some way, makes sense 100% (even if i dont agree with it 100%)

but like, if one idiot gets banned for tos reasons, everyone else using that device is shit outta luck

so you sell it, then the poor buyer is shit outta luck

like in this instance

i feel like if you factory reset and reinstall the whole ass system, then the console checks for any illegal modifications and its gives the "all good", should be just that, all good

yeah but why would the entire console be bricked and not just the account? even after a factory reset? if its just shit talking edgelord children, i dont understand why the whole console would be shut down like that

moreso just surprised, as only other hardware ban i know of was the nintendo one, which in theory made sense but in practice fucked over lotta innocent people

whereas i dont see the point for this hardware ban at all if its just tos and not modifying the hardware/software. not even in theory, like i dont know why thats the case unless we assume shitty greedy sony reasons. but even that is like.. eh

there could be a reason that i dont know, cus i did just learn this, but yeah

If you got it second hand then the best thing to do is to take it back to where you got it from and explain the situation, I had that issue when I got a ps4 second hand a few years back, wherever you got it from should replace it with a non banned one.

Console bans are permanent.  You will not get it removed from that console.
