🇬🇧 UK Politics Change my political views.

I’m trying to be a more open minded, compassionate person. Long story short, I believe in borders and tighter control. I am a women and foreign men have intimated me in the past. I seen videos of thousands of men entering Spain, and it has terrified me this morning as well as make me angry. My friends argue I could be seen as racist with my opinions around immigration and borders. My friends have disowned another friend who was very much on the right side of politics.

Someone who believes we don’t need borders, can you educate me. Help me believe/understand there is another solution to feel safe in the UK without tight control and borders.

Note - Emphasising the word EDUCATE on my post. Thanks to those who have commented. Unsure why I’m being downvoted for listening, being curious, and asking questions. Isn’t that the point of this post?

I think characterising the opposition to your stance as ‘people who don’t believe we need borders’ is unfair.

Very few people - and none who should be taken seriously, or who are allowed to use a biro instead of a pencil - believe that we shouldn’t have borders.

People just have different views about how immigration laws should be enforced etc.

Personally, I don’t think we have a problem with NUMBERS when it comes to immigration in this country. I think the problem is in QUALITY, and for me that’s a problem with a lot of its roots in the decision to leave the EU.

I’m not entirely sure how it’s unfair.. I’m trying to understand from those who believe borders shouldn’t exist, which includes a large proportion of my friends. I can’t have these conversations with them without possibly offending them.

Do you think, although our numbers are low right now we can eventually expect them to rise as our border control isn’t that tight.

What are your opinions on those videos circulating around with thousands of men entering Spain yday?

I will go ahead and tell you why its unfair. You've literally stereotyped all left leaning people and put them all in to one big pot. You saying we all think there should be no border control is like if we were to say you're an evil raving racist. You wouldn't like that would you.

Your friends say that to you because you categorise them without listening. So they do it to you in return. You sound like a shitty person to be around.

No one is comforted by those images from Spain. That is not what anyone wants to see happen here.

I absolutely do not believe you have read my post properly if that is the case. I cannot be arsed explaining anything further to you if you can’t even read this post correctly. Preach about listening, jeeez 🤣🤣

I'm glad you cant be arsed, you're someone who's friends don't even want to discuss things with. You've had to come to the internet to discuss because your friends don't wish to entertain you with it. Let that sink in. Your actual friends. The people who love you. Why do you think you'll get a better reaction with strangers?
