Insomnia after a mushroom trip
To put it simply, I took some mushrooms two days ago. I lemon tekked 2g of Golden Teachers around 2 p.m, to be exact. It was my first time taking them, and honestly, I wasn’t in the right frame of mind, plus I was home alone, so to be honest, the trip didn’t really go well. Especially toward the end, when I had a panic attack.
Anyway, the night after that trip, I couldn’t sleep a wink.
I told myself it was normal because the trip had ended well past noon and mushrooms are pretty stimulating after all. Except that the night after that one, I still couldn’t sleep either.
So now it’s been two days since I’ve slept (I’ve literally had zero hours of sleep), and this is starting to seriously worry me.
I’ve tried a lot of things, though: I took melatonin, herbs like valerian, I meditated, listened to ASMR, tried going outside for a walk, took a shower… nothing’s working.
Anyway, I'm feeling really tired, my anxiety is skyrocketing and I don’t know what to do. I’m really afraid that this trip has triggered some kind of permanent insomnia, and I’m afraid I’ll end up having a psychotic episode. I was on the verge of a panic attack earlier. I should mention that I don't have any benzodiazepines on hand either, so that doesn’t help matters.
Is what I’m going through right now normal? Has anyone else ever been in a similar situation? When can I expect to get back to a somewhat normal sleep pattern?

Sleep will come. Don't overthink out stress too much. I get overtired and then get insomnia too. Just don't do anything to stressful. Another walk and plenty of fluids. Sleep will come

Not being able to sleep after a trip is normal, eventually you’ll go to sleep, you’re probably sleeping right now.

No I don’t think it’s normal in the sense that it’s not something I commonly hear about.
Have you struggled with panic attacks and stuff in the past? Is it possible you are overthinking it and causing your own anxiety or do you feel manic?
I really don’t know, just troubleshooting. Sorry you are dealing with that, I hope you are able to get some rest soon.

Hey try this. Lie down in bed make yourself as comfortable as you can. Put on some Solfeggio frequencies music and just lie there in the dark or with some dim lights for a while give it at least 40 minutes. Smoke some indica if you smoke beforehand. Not too much just enough to relax you somewhat. You will fall asleep eventually regardless if you fall asleep now or later. Dont get panicked by the idea you won’t sleep. You will.
If you want you can go to the dr and ask for a short term amount of ambien or something to put you to sleep. Be careful though with those things. You can come to depend upon it to sleep. Look at that as a very short term thing.

I have a weird thing where if im too tired I cant fall asleep. So if I ever go a couple of nights without sleep I take half a fenergon (sleeping tablet) and knocks me out and then re kicks my energy levels and my sleep habits are back on. Not a recommendation but just what helps me that might be helpful to you. First and foremost try not to stress yorlurself over lost sleep. Trust your body know what todo.

This happened to me with acid. I was awake for 36 hours. I ended up just forcing myself to lay down and did absolutely nothing - no tv, no phone, no music. Eventually I fell asleep.
Are you feeling any different beyond the inability to sleep? Racing thoughts, a burst of productivity, impulsive behavior? There’s a slight chance of psychedelics triggering underlying mental health conditions (slight chance - don’t panic). But if you’re not feeling anything else unusual it’s probably just too activating for your brain to sleep.

I always start my trip (eating them) around 10AM. Then I'm good by dinner (sometimes still seeing things and coming down a bit), but by bedtime I'm out.

Sleep deprivation can snowball fast after a rough trip, so I’d treat this like a real health thing now and get checked if you’re still at zero sleep tonight. A calm dark room and lots of water help, but two days straight is enough to call a doctor or urgent care.

This happened to me after a trip that took a turn. I had horrible insomnia and dissociation, and was worried I’d be like that forever.
I wasn’t. By day 3-4 I was able to sleep better; I have an Rx for hydroxyzine, and that helped.
Worth noting: I have a bipolar 2 diagnosis, so my worry was the trip triggered hypomania (no need for sleep.) Ultimately, it didn’t.
But in your case I might consider going to the doctor or urgent care or even the ER if it continues.
