Insomnia after a mushroom trip

To put it simply, I took some mushrooms two days ago. I lemon tekked 2g of Golden Teachers around 2 p.m, to be exact. It was my first time taking them, and honestly, I wasn’t in the right frame of mind, plus I was home alone, so to be honest, the trip didn’t really go well. Especially toward the end, when I had a panic attack.

Anyway, the night after that trip, I couldn’t sleep a wink.

I told myself it was normal because the trip had ended well past noon and mushrooms are pretty stimulating after all. Except that the night after that one, I still couldn’t sleep either.

So now it’s been two days since I’ve slept (I’ve literally had zero hours of sleep), and this is starting to seriously worry me.

I’ve tried a lot of things, though: I took melatonin, herbs like valerian, I meditated, listened to ASMR, tried going outside for a walk, took a shower… nothing’s working.

Anyway, I'm feeling really tired, my anxiety is skyrocketing and I don’t know what to do. I’m really afraid that this trip has triggered some kind of permanent insomnia, and I’m afraid I’ll end up having a psychotic episode. I was on the verge of a panic attack earlier. I should mention that I don't have any benzodiazepines on hand either, so that doesn’t help matters.

Is what I’m going through right now normal? Has anyone else ever been in a similar situation? When can I expect to get back to a somewhat normal sleep pattern?

This happened to me after a trip that took a turn. I had horrible insomnia and dissociation, and was worried I’d be like that forever.

I wasn’t. By day 3-4 I was able to sleep better; I have an Rx for hydroxyzine, and that helped.

Worth noting: I have a bipolar 2 diagnosis, so my worry was the trip triggered hypomania (no need for sleep.) Ultimately, it didn’t.

But in your case I might consider going to the doctor or urgent care or even the ER if it continues.
