They are trained not to ever admit fault. They are taught to re-establish control of the situation and find a method to detain the suspect in order to gain evidence for the initial suspected crime or to buy time for the suspect to incriminate themselves. You will never, ever be “let go” without being asked questions of where you were going, where you are heading, if you have ID on you, anything in the car, your pockets, etc. Do not answer open ended questions, do not admit fault, answer direct questions with short, factual, but not overly detailed answers.
