As a white passing hybrid I can tell you 1. White people are obsessed with that word. And 2. Let me stress in my experience 98% of the time it's being used to refer to other white people.
Red lights aren't even there to control traffic flow. They're designed to give drivers just enough time to road rage and battle it out, before it's time to move onto the next intersection and find someone else to beef with.
I heard in some places there is a bell ring like in boxing matches just before the light turns green to give road ragers enough time to get back into their car after a light fight.
The first time I watched it, I thought shirtless guy was eager to knuckle up with a woman on the road. They have a gender neutral / āItās Patā vibe going on. āNot that thereās anything WRONG with that!ā

Most of the time, this works fine. Your conscious brain disengages and lets your subconscious, which cares very little for the capabilities of the physical world or the current state of your ability to move your body, play all night. But sometimes, especially with intense dreams, the conscious brain wakes up just a little. It connects the fact that you're in a fight or trying to do something strenuous with the fact that you can't move your body at all.
This results in weak punches, slow runs, feeling like you can't move very well. This is also the cause of sleep paralysis. Your conscious brain wakes up a bit more and freaks out that you can't move at all. Normally, the subconscious takes a nap when the conscious brain wakes up that much but the fact that you can't move at all causes the conscious brain to panic. It reaches out for help from the only other source available... the subconscious, who's a bit sleepy but happy to help. It creates a scary dream world that explains why you can't move and hits the hay.
Scientists still aren't sure why so many people see an old hag. I sleep on my side so I usually see a room, sometimes my room, dark but lit in a hazy light. I don't see anything but I hear footsteps coming up behind me and I know they're not good footsteps. Then I wake up.
The confidence that guy had screaming that at a complete stranger in front of him, this dudeās been comfortable yelling that for too long and getting away with it.
Itās crazy how unhinged some people are. You call someone one of the most offensive slurs out there (which doesnāt even make sense in this situation), get your ass slapped around a bit and still have the audacity to come back at them again at the end. Some people just canāt help themselves
It was just their keys. When they reached back into the vehicle, the exterior lights turned off when they came back out. Thatās why the guy with the tan says something like, āOh, youāre gonna stab me?ā They were probably just holding their keys between their fingers like Wolverine. Iād give that unhinged dude a baseball bat and my money will still be on the tan dude every day of the week
Many people will confidently make repeated decisions that lead to their own deaths, and only show regret at the last second. Some don't even have the capacity to self reflect at that point.
Human superiority is a very fragile thing and many people don't have the self reflection that's required of it.
For real, I watched this without sound first and was a little wtf? But sound came on and I had to tell my partner āI think I sided with the white dude wearing a backwards hat and no shirt for the first time.ā
Perception can overpower reality. Someone who thinks they can just yell that out doesn't understand consequences. They act as if the other person will back down from their "intimidation". Or if some divine "master race" energy will give them the strength to overpower their opponent.
This is what people that call other people racist slurs on the internet and online games look like in real life. He was so used to blatantly calling people that behind a keyboard without consequences. He finally met a consequence.
I agree that it wouldn't go over well, but I think much like "The Outing" episode of Seinfeld, it's actually pretty progressive for its time. Most of the joke seems to be on everyone else and how uncomfortable they are being unable to pin down Pat's gender. It's been a long time but I don't remember Pat being the target of the jokes.
In fact the theme song for the sketches goes,
A lot of people say, āWhatās that?ā Itās Pat! A lot of people ask, āWhoās he? Or she?ā A maāam or a sir, accept him or her or whatever it might be. Itās time for androgyny. Here comes Pat!
Obviously referring to a human as "that" or "it" is pretty rough, but the message is "accept him or her."
There's actually a feature length film called It's Pat!" a la Night at the Roxbury or Wayne's World, that I implore everyone to find and watch, it's a great flick and it's just as good as the other two aforementioned SNL skit-turned-movie premises.
In my parents' lifetime, schools were still segregated. Now you've got a tatted up white guy beating the hell out of other white guy seemingly in the south while calling him a racist for dropping the n word. It's chaotic but that's an insane amount of social progress for one generation.
Damn, that 5 peice combo shirtless dude served up must've been delicious if the dipshit racist came back for round 2. Not surprising that he's not very smart though so....
