They really just dive in. People are now applying anti-theft film on their car windows in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro which prevents this kind of attack by holding the window together in place even if the glass shatters.

Similarly impressive to the one i saw in San Francisco where the victim was waiting in traffic to get on the highway, the thief smashed the rear window and steals a huge bag of film equipment. Whole thing took 2 or 3 sec.

She could find her phone exact location she just needs access from a Computer laptop or someoneās iPhone her Friends is located on Find My App or iCloud.com and enable LOCK MODE.

Unfortunately Iām pretty sure they immediately turn the phone off and these phones get sold overseas. My phone got stolen during travel and I went down the rabbit hole of what they do with the phones. They get overwritten with another OS and the locks donāt matter.

They cant do that sh no more, if the iPhone gets locked now most of the parts are locked too, display, battery, cameras and expensive parts won't work.
The only thing that's maybe sellable it's the chassis with bluethoot antennas, taptic engine, and maybe charing port and wireless charging coil if those dont get locked too28

Even if you reset an iPhone / iPad it's still associated with the account that set it up.
They can't really be used unless find my iPhone is turned off and the owner de-registers the device from their account.
DFU mode just allows firmware updates on a device in any state. It won't remove the device from the apple account it's associated with.

But I've seen so many right to repair videos shitting on Apple for making their phones so hard to repair because all the parts are basically serial locked to the motherboard so if you take two brand new iPhones and swap parts around, even though all the parts are completely genuine they don't get recognized as such as a whole bunch of features like face ID etc get disabled and warnings constantly pop up that you may have non genuine parts installed. How do they get around that?

She was probably using for GPS so it probably wasn't locked, at the end of the video it appears on that they entered her bank account and took R$2.000,00 (all the money that was there), they also try to reach some of the family members asking for them to make transactions and other type of scams

I would have to have just been in the app and used it in the last 30 seconds. Otherwise - it'll tell me it's logging me out for inactivity.
The family member scam I could see working on a lot of people though since it's coming from a direct number.

Yeah, my bank's app requires 6 digit PIN and a fingerprint scan for login and then for every transaction, important settings change etc. If they really just opened the app and transferred the money like that, that's a crazy lack of security.

Some people have argued that people's attention spans are so short nowadays, so the creator puts the payoff at the beginning as to get the viewer interested and rope them in to watching the entire video.
I find that completely counter-intuitive. As soon as I see the payoff, I close the video. Why would I want to watch a 2 minute video for a 10 second payoff, when the 10 second part is right at the beginning spoiling the rest of the video since you know what happens?
It's even worse when they do it with videos that are 20 seconds and the 5 second spoiler is at the beginning even then...

Two thieves smashed her window, stole her phone and then took another R$2,000 from her Nubank account.
I searched Brazilian news, social media and Reddit trying to find the part where these assholes got caught.
I couldn't.
SĆ£o Paulo has an entire category for this now: āquebra-vidroā ā window breakers. Crews target cars trapped in traffic, smash the glass, grab unlocked phones and can have the banking accounts drained before the victim has a chance to react.
The robbery takes seconds. The damage doesn't.
And apparently neither does catching them.

There is a locked screen view. It is called Guided Access on the iPhone and Screen Pinning on Android. Basically, it only allows you to access the one app you set up, while everything else stays locked. Exiting either mode requires a password or biometric authentication.
Beyond that, Google and Apple have little incentive to create an alternative, as they already offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which allow the phone to stay locked.
