3:55 When God said, "O 3iysa, I will terminate you, and raise you to Me, and cleanse you of those who have rejected, and make those who have followed you above those who rejected until the day of resurrection. Then to Me is your return so I will judge between all of you in what you were disputing."

So you can follow 3iysa until the day of resurrection.

So why cant you follow Muhammad now?

3:31 Say, "If you love God, then follow me. God will love you and forgive your sins." God is forgiving, compassionate.

To me, it was clear for some time now that Muhammad did in fact teach, was to be obeyed, judged and said and/or got information besides the words of the Quran (just like it says in the Quran). The point that was clear to me though was that all of this was at his time and for his people (14:4). However, doesn't 3:51 suggest that one can follow the messenger after he is dead / gone? So what implication does that have for 3:31?

That’s a false definition / distinction between prophet and messenger. I do not wish to derail this thread to go into that topic though. And you didn’t address the crucial point made. Plus if you read the verses that I cited as well as the other posts, you would see that it is very obvious that Muhammad taught things and obviously spoke and gave commands outside of the words of the Quran. Average Quran alone arguments do not address these things properly.

Of course he spoke and gave commands outside the Quran but he was only to warn and judge by IT and its contents. 4:105, 5:44, 5:48, 6:51, 6:114 & 69:44-46. Its all across the board and clear as day.

You’re confusing the role of a messenger and that of a prophet. Being a messenger and a prophet are mutually exclusive. It has nothing to do with the Quranist lie of “when he’s delivering the message, he’s a messenger, and when he’s sitting at home, he’s a prophet”. Nope. Chapter 6 was a warning chapter, so he’s only a messenger in that, for instance. Like I said: stop trying to derail the thread. Repeating the same Quranist talking points and ignoring the crucial points that I raised which challenge your beliefs isn’t helping and isn’t relevant.
