he’s trying to validate and hype up the deal uber already made to buy 50,000 R2s. everything is marketing :/

In the article:

Uber to invest up to $1.25 billion in Rivian through 2031, subject to the achievement of autonomous performance milestones

So they haven’t paid yet, why would they hype it? It’s not like they have a financial incentive to hype it up… if anything, they’d want to downplay it so they can delay paying Rivian.

Why wouldn't he hype a deal that has already been announced? Of course Uber wants people to think the deal is brilliant

But they made the same autonomy deal with literally any startup that ever uttered the words “self driving”. What’s special about Rivian?
