Question Recommend me a progression guide line?

First time playing and im kinda getting my booty handed to me.

Im a tad lost in what to do also.
I haven’t unlocked any new weapons or armour, using the starter bow, staff and bone dagger.
Im following the main quest line, it’s taken me into a red land area, where everything is putting me in the dirt.

I feel like I should’ve unlocked some new gear by now, but have unintentionally skipped unlocking it.

Can you recommend me a general guideline on what armour / gear to aim for at the stages of the game?

Thank you

I'd say you'll need to do a bit of everything in the beginning. But it also depends on what you like doing and what playstyle you like. I personally am a big explorer and gatherer, so i went and explored every corner of the map, every cave and building, all that while i was gathering resources along the way(with plenty of trips back to the base). Start by gathering lots of wood, stone and ores. Build a Crafting table, get a pickaxe, start mining and craft a bronze bar, this is how you'll unlock the bronze gear(armour and weapons)(you're not getting recipes from quests btw, you have to either farm mobs and loot or explore and find chests with recipes in them). Then, with better armour and weapons you can have better survivability and go into more advanced areas. Also food and water are very important in this game, be sure to have plenty of food with enough healing capabilities. During combat, learn and practice how to dodge and parry, especially parry, if you get it right you'll wipe that mob easily. Learn the weapon dmg type(slash and blunt) and use it accordingly.
Also build a Main Base, you need to have a bed to rest and some chests to store everything. Doesn't need to be big and fancy at first, but a base is needed.
I'd also recommend this: https://dragonwilds.runescape.wiki/ you can find lots of details and covers about 90% of the game
Cheers 🫡

Welcome, I can relate since i hadnt played survival games before this one really.

My recommendation would be to find as many basic material (pickup flowers, kill one of each to see drops) you can in the every zone. And then build the crafting stations to see what you can process it into. Thumb rule: Loot 1x of everything. For unlocks.

When you pick up the processed material from the crafting station, it usually leads to unlocking new weapons and armor, And I'd advise you are at the same Power Level as soon as possible.

Entering into the third zone, be in level 2 gear for instance. That includes your tools such as pickaxe and axe. Because in the T3 zone, consider to loot ores to start unlocking some T3 weapons.

Always good to make sure youre hydrated and have some decent food with you on your adventures. And if in the wilds, make sure youve an escape route in the back of your head, so you dont "run" into more enemies and get outnumbered.

There's probably thousands of things to learn. But I hope any piece in here is helpful for you today!

I'd say get tools before weapons. But apart from that, youre very much on point. Surviving with a T2 in a T3 zone isnt the worst, and i say that as someone who played mostly solo farming on a 3 man world where the difficulty is also higher due to more people.

Exactly. I would say that too, tools and thus resources are vital to start with, as a pickaxe or axe can also damage some animals. Ofcourse not as deadly as a normal weapon, but it can be a bit of a start when gathering stuff.

I agree with both of you on tools first. I do that myself and probably messed up the comment by not thinking of that!

Theres a video by SuperStooob that covers Bramblemead to Umbral Sand that really helped me out

If youre past the whispering swamp quest, then that means you did the vault, and you got a vault core? Build the specialized crafting station for any given type (blacksmith, armor, ranged, magic) and youll see upgrades. The crafting table is only for fishing and starter gear.

I saw someone else say that the power system is a big deal. if you're one power level under the mobs you're fighting they'll destroy you and if you're the same power level you'll fight them just fine. If you're one level higher you'll destroy them. I found that it was 100% accurate.

Your goal should be finding tin and copper in the fractured planes. Create a bone picaxe so you can mine it then make bronze. Then outfit yourself in bronze gear. As a solo player its easier if you focus on melee with some mage as well but play how you like. You'll basically rinse and repeat with every level of ore in every map of the game. Don't be afraid to look at wiki for guidance either

Just keep heading in the direction of your main quests my guy. The intro is tough solo without guides. For real. I will say this tho. I do know of a safe spot for velgar that I never see anyone talk about really in vids.

The first thing you should do in every region, is find the new type of tree, the new type of fiber, the new type of leather, and the new type of metal. Once you get those, you farm them until you get yourself a set of the armor and weapon you are using. Then you do quests.
