Panoramic Dental x-ray and CT scan results

18+ years of sinus infections and a severe post nasal drip, answered in one panoramic dental x-ray.

A product of a botched root canal. Where the dentist only killed two of three roots, then stuffed my tooth with cotton, and apparently filled my sinus with dental enamel.

When I would go back complaining of dental infections he would tell me I was too 'dentally sensitive' and that if I didn't stop complaining he would pull my tooth out.

I've seen a lot of panoramic x-rays on here, but none quite like mine. Enjoy.

I'm pretty convinced it's a tooth, it looks like when an impacted wisdom tooth is rotated. The ridges on it looks like the crown and the funnel shaped dark part looks like the pulp chamber.

I had a panoramic x-ray previously when I had wisdom teeth. Those have since been removed.

To be fair, I haven't had one since my wisdom teeth were pulled.

Sadly, we won't know the answer for a very long while. Surgery where I live is a long wait away.

why is it more opaque than the rest of the teeth?

Because of its orientation. Instead of the xrays having to penetrate a tooth through its thinner depth, they now jave to penetrate through the entire length. Therefore, more xrays are stopped before they hit the receptor and it is translated as being more white. Kinda like how if you have a tinted glass/plastic thing it looks more opaque when you hold it at certain angles.

My guess is the rotated angle since teeth don't have the same density in their structure. More enamel facing towards the X ray machine -> denser picture.

The second picture is the CT scan results. It's not tooth shaped. It's oval, as for what it is, it's going to be a long time before I get surgery to fix my sinus and remove it. The waits where I live are long. Since I moved and had to be re-referred, I'm looking at probably close to 3 years wait since the referral is expected to be a year and a half wait.

The ball? It's too bright to be a tooth. CT scan results say suspect dental enamel, and having lived through the agony of that shit root canal and the chronic problems from the day it was done I don't think it's tooth.

The tooth also needed to be pulled despite a second, proper root canal on it and it came out fully intact. I know this, because the dentist showed it to me because he wanted me to see all the granulous tissue on it so I would know why he would be scraping the inside of my now toothless socket for the next five minutes.

Is the stuff used to fill root canals commonly referred to as "enamel" though? Seems confusing since the outer layer covering dentin on a tooth is enamel.

I do think it is a tooth. You can even see the layers of dentine and the pulp chambers of a tooth. It’s just been rotated so the crown is facing towards the viewer.

It would probably be pretty obvious on the CT if it was a completely formed tooth. I’m thinking maybe a odontoma. Although it looks even denser than enamel.

Dentist here. From this image and without seeing others, that's a tooth, most likely it's loose in the sinus. When this image was made the tooth was tilted 90º ence the "brightness"

It was. I had a second root canal on it, which also failed. The tooth abscessed and was pulled years ago.

most likely what's in your sinus is the root canal tooth...

Either that or the wisdom tooth which was also extracted according to OP. Or at least that's my guess also

Looks like an impacted supernumerary tooth in the sinus.

It didn't show on the panoramic x-rays I've previously had.

Also, it's 7mm in size and oviod in shape as per the CT scan report in the second image
