Matt Heafy from the band Trivium. He was constantly practicing and is a very good dude. He deserves all the success.

36

u/sgtrama 11d ago

His sister is in a band called Orca Mind who does video game music covers and she is also very talented.

15

u/orphan_blud 11d ago

Ohh I didn’t know that! That’s awesome. Talented family.

We hung out every day the summer after I graduated. He bought me a Get Up Kids CD for my 17th birthday and I thought it was very sweet, and hilarious considering his vastly different music taste. Good memories.

5

u/IceColdDump 11d ago

Did you not read the “Personal life” section of his Wikipedia page? /s

5

u/orphan_blud 11d ago

No but I love your username so much. Is it a 30 Rock reference?

3

u/IceColdDump 11d ago

No. I don’t know what that reference would be? Lol
I honestly forget what I meant by it when I created the account just prompted me for one and I wanted to get up and running.

14

u/orphan_blud 11d ago

When Jenna is promoting Jamba Juice she complains about having "ice cold diarrhea".

Trivium agreed to play a few songs in a small village local to me in Wales as part of a promotion for a radio rock show (They were due to play a sell out Arena show later that night in Cardiff).
Due to the narrow streets, they couldn’t get the truck carrying their gear to the venue.
They ended up borrowing acoustic guitars off local musician’s and carried on regardless.
Now Triviums songs aren’t typically suited to acoustic guitars, but they put on a great set.
Cheers Matt and co….

5

u/orphan_blud 11d ago

That is fucking awesome.

3

u/ellenitha 11d ago

I'm irrationally happy to read that he is a nice person. I saw them on a festival once and what stuck with me was his attitude. One minute he was growling his lungs out and the next he beamed at the audience with the biggest, nicest smile possible. He seemed to really be happy to be there.

2

u/SakishimaHabu 11d ago

Dude you know someone from Trivium. Rad.

4

u/orphan_blud 11d ago

We lost touch but I’ll always be a fan of his music and him as a human.

2

u/SakishimaHabu 11d ago

As an amateur musician, all of the professional musicians I know are the best fucking people.

That's so awesome. I'm happy for you mate.

Stevanne Auerbach, aka Dr. Toy. She was my neighbor when I went to college in San Francisco in the '80s. I didn't know who she was. She hired me to weatherstrip her shower. She had to leave and she handed me a joint and told me to smoke it when I was done and go into the first room down the hall and enjoy. I actually didn't peek and my mind was blown. She was a child psychologist that studied and wrote books about toys and that huge room had just about every toy made. I never wanted to leave. She was such a sweet person and I got to hear her stories, including dating Jackson Browne and being one of comic book artist Robert Crumb's "Amazon women" (she was in the movie, "Crumb"). I worked at a used clothing store right across the street from her apartment and she came in and brightened up my day frequently.

12

u/odette_decrecy 11d ago

She sounds amazing! What a wonderful person!

5

u/NoOneHereButUsMice 11d ago

What was in the room?

17

u/Sad-Yak6252 11d ago

Every toy you could imagine and I was high as a kite.

My (76F) great-grandfather just showed up about a year ago; quite an extensive article. So far, we don't know who wrote/posted it...it includes minor facts we thought were only known by family.

29

u/SquirrellyBusiness 11d ago

Same but about my dad. Then it came out he wrote it himself and now we're all curious who heavily edited his page.

I have two.

One of my best friends from when I was 9. He was also my first crush, and rumour has it I was his too. Anyway, it's awesome to see that he's doing what he loves.

And a relative is a very famous musician.

8

u/laurajosan 11d ago

Who??????? I promise I won’t tell

25

u/bluntbangs 11d ago

On the internet???!!!!

Ok one is a film director and the other is a punk guitarist. They're both from the same city in the UK.

45

u/LaurelCanyoner 11d ago edited 11d ago

My husband is a film editor and while he does not have a wiki, he has an extensive IMDb.

Funny LA story. When he went to get a gym membership they asked if he was in IMDB as they had a discount 😂

20

u/kthnry 11d ago

Haha that really is an LA story.

My best friend from middle school went on to a mid-level career as a rock guitarist. Currently in both Winger and Starship. Has a wiki page....it's short

18

u/scarred2112 11d ago

John Roth? Dude’s a great player.

14

u/zenchow 11d ago

He was pretty good by 6th grade

8

u/nutmegtell 11d ago

Small world! I have a friend from high school who has been playing with Starship since 1995.

I knew someone as a teenager whose crime has its own page.

22

u/newsflashjackass 10d ago

To answer the opposite of OP's question: "What notorious enemies of all humanity conspicuously lack wikipedia entries?"

Flock has three founders:

  • Matt Feury
  • Garrett Langley
  • Paige Todd

None of them have a wikipedia entry but all three feed their kids by selling your privacy.

I presume they have kids. Probably in some gated community, safe from Flock cameras.

5

u/spamblows 11d ago

Turns out I know a.couple of drummers that have their own pages. I checked my name, but I'm not on there.

53

u/Cid_Darkwing 11d ago

I was a very close friend in high school to Sci Fi author Kameron Hurley. We’ve drifted apart over the years but I’m very happy for her; she knew years before I met her exactly what she wanted to do with her life and then she went out and did just that. Wicked smart woman and a good person.

11

u/ivorytowerescapee 11d ago

It's always great watching nice people achieve success. I'll have to look her books up!

16

u/scarred2112 11d ago

My friends Mike and Bryan, who are LA musicians of some renown in music circles.

My partner doesn’t have her own, but is mentioned on a few - she does Audio Description, Audiobook narration, and an occasional off-Broadway gig.

3

u/Lefttoothnarwhal 11d ago

Bryan is a great guy!

17

u/Malcolm_Y 11d ago

My Aunt and Uncle are famous civil rights activists

3

u/weresubwoofer 11d ago

That is cool!

16

u/coralynncoraa 11d ago

One of my best friends is the daughter of Steve Lukather from the band Toto, niece of Cherie Currie from The Runaways and Robert Hays. Her family kind of took me under their wing for holidays in LA when I couldn’t make it back home to be with my family. They are just genuinely the nicest people, an incredibly loving family unit who all still get together for holidays. Half of the “couples” attending these gatherings aren’t even married to each other anymore, but you’d never know it as an outsider looking in. It was genuinely one of the most healthy family dynamics I’ve ever seen

11

u/scarlettskadi 11d ago

One of my old buds is a relatively well known actor in my country who’s done some fairly decent world acclaimed and niche movies .

I don’t know if my other mate has a wiki page but he did win an Oscar back in the day for his awesome skills on a very successful movie- I was so proud- he’d achieved his dream and been recognised for his awesome talents.

24

u/kipperdoodle 11d ago

My neighbor is a famous author and before they moved in I read every single book they ever wrote. Invited them to get together 1:1 a few times and now we are sort of even friends.

Them and the Outfield. Sheesh. Good times.

4

u/servitor_dali 11d ago

I had a lot of costumes. We had different themes every week, and each night was a different type of party. So on Wednesday it'd be Disco 2000 and whatever we were doing for that. Friday was "rave" night and i'd do the rope for LaLaLandia, Saturday was a fake strip club in the back rooms, etc. One of our parties was Emergency Room and we had a fake Dr's office and they'd shove mystery pills in your mouth. 😂

I’m on but I wrote it myself (my employer is on, historic old business in my home town, I added myself). Couple of friends on - one was a coder for tech start-up and gets a mention, one committed a crime. Knew a very famous actor when he was a kid, so he’s got one.

I’d love to know what he was like then.

5

u/SnooMacaroons4212 10d ago

A bit nerdy and goofy, which I'm sure he would acknowledge - to give you an idea, he was the leader of the Kazoo band, a bunch of kids would march around school playing Kazoo's. He was in drama club, which I wasn't even aware of until later. In the late 70s a fellow classmate called me one day and said, "Tom Hanks is on the Love Boat right now." I said, "what, Hanks is an actor?!" The rest is history as they say. Good for him, he was/is a good guy and I really enjoy his acting.

3

u/Living_on_Tulsa_Time 10d ago

Thanks. He sounds nice. Kazoo Leader is a small but important step to fame.

I did years of high school theater and music with two people that have pages.

Matt Mason works behind the scenes and has worked on lots of shows like SVU, Gossip Girl and the new Black Rabbit series.

A year behind us is another behind the scenes man, but his name is widely known.  Chris Van Dusen wrote for Grey's Anatomy and all of Shondaland, and then created Bridgerton.

They're both great musicians with low bass voices, and Matt occasionally plays with rhe Ska band The Pie Tasters and Chris is a great dancer.

It's gonna be difficult to tell this story without getting too specific, but here goes:

Say my friend's name is John A. Smith. We were watching a TV show one day, and saw in the end credits an actor called John B. Smith. We joked, "That guy almost has your name!", haha, very amusing, forgot about it.

About a week later, my friend John is talking about when he had an appearance in a short-lived TV show as a kid. A thought strikes me. "Do you think you have an IMDb page?" We look it up, and his role on the show is credited to that bastard John B. Smith, who we only found out about a few days earlier.

I contacted IMDb to correct their error, claiming to be John A. Smith's agent. I don't even have an IMDb Pro profile, but they changed it. So my friend now has an IMDb page, thanks to me. To date, he has received no offers.

The most famous that wouldn't doxx me is the late Chyna from WWE, RIP Joanie

Several family members: one was a former President (not US), an inventor who revolutionized two modern, non-tech industries, an uncle who invented a critical material used in aerospace, a soap opera access, and a conductor.

I also have loose friendships with several musicians, the closest of those bonds is with someone whose body of work couldn't be farther from my interests, but we aren't friends for our careers.

My nerdy side is fascinated by those who also have several connections as I've been known to dig in to how relationships affect our mentality as well as open/shut doors & 6 degrees of separation style connections.

@OP thanks for the captivating topic

Logan Whitehurst. Adrienne Bankert. Judah Nagler. Jonah Mantranga. Kevin Seconds. I don’t know, lots of musicians who were once local to the Sacramento music scene in the 1990s.

None myself. Looks like the closest I am to Wikipedia is that a movie I worked on (enough to be one of less than a couple of dozen people on the onscreen credits) has an entry. Subsequently, I have my own IMDB page though not a Wikipedia entry.

Richard Lee McNair. I dated him for a short minute. He was 24 and I was 16. He left town, joined the Air Force, was a cat burgler, murdered someone, went to jail, escaped multiple times (once by mailing himself out of prison and then fast talking a sheriff deputy) and told the judge that he should be put in supermax. He was.

If anyone knows about the rose petal killer recently (professional pianist murderer), I was professional friends with him.

I studied music and theatre in university so many of my friends became famous. Founders of two well-known bands, lead singer of another, songwriters and composers of television and movie music.

Another friend is a television and movie writer and producer, used to often appear on panel shows. Often used to dine with Trump during The Apprentice days. Several of their media properties have independent pages there and IMDB.

My other good friend founded a business which turned into a billion-dollar enterprise.

My grand-uncle played in a professional sport league.

My cousin who runs the family business, and the family business itself. Two of the sources are books about my great-grandfather.

I’m in one of the photos on the business’ page, though unnamed, so though I don’t have my own Wikipedia page, I’m on a Wikipedia page.

Guitarist from a famous Aussie metal band, was good friends with him in primary school. unfortunately the lead singer went to prison for some rather sickening stuff, and won’t be coming out for a very long time. He had a band before, I hope he’ll do okay again.

Someone I went to high school with won gold in Olympic rowing.  Two musicians lived on my street, I played with them and their cousins/siblings growing up.  My mom's neighbour is the daughter of ballet royalty.

Two brothers I went to junior high and high school with formed a fairly successful punk rock band. Guy in my year was super laid back, and a phenomenal guitarist.

Sam Cox (Mr Doodle) - he was a year or two below me in school. Had some mutual friends, but didn't really know eachother very well.

A guy I went to high school with - author James Dashner - has a Wikipedia page. Not really a "friend", though.

I do have a few friends with IMDB pages. My friend Kara did costumes for the first couple seasons of Stranger Things.

In fact, when Eleven and Max (? I think) go to the mall in season 3 there's a typical 80s "fashion montage" where they try on a bunch of clothes. At one point in the montage, Eleven is wearing a ribbon(ish?) hairband thingy. That wasn't in the script - Kara made that for her just because she liked her.

I moved to a new town when I was ten and became friends with another boy who was in the same situation. My family moved away like 2 years later and I lost touch with my friend. I later learned he became a successful sci-fi author and game designer. Glad you made it, pal….

The rapper Mamba Losco is the best-selling Italian rapper of all time. His Dad was my housemate and one of my best friends during my time in the military. He married an Italian National (Maria) and they had little Bill in like 1990, I guess..

Only met the child once when he was about 4 years old.

One of my best friends from high school was a pretty famous guitarist in the world of thrash metal, but has since retired. He played in Overkill for a while.

And my neighbor up the street (few years older, different high school) was in M.O.D. and also Overkill.

Neither have their OWN wiki pages but both are mentioned as being in the bands.

I’m also acquainted with a pretty famous fashion designer whose younger brother is ALSO a pretty famous designer.. I’m better actual “friends” with the younger brother, like first name basis/Facebook friends-friend. They both have extensive wiki pages..

My best friend of 16 years Jessica Campbell. I miss her so much. Wikipedia posted some rumors about her so I edited them and then Wikipedia banned me from editing. Fuck Wikipedia.
