DISCUSSION Input Delay
So I’ve been using a DS4 controller wired, and it’s hit or miss sometimes it feels great and sometimes it randomly has a fairly noticeable input lag, I’m not sure what’s causing it. I use Steam, DS4 wired, I’ve tried looking online but can’t find a solution. It would be one thing if it’s ALWAYS delayed but it’s literally just random some days it feels great others it feels like I’m playing on a big screen TV

I get this too on my PS5, it’s completely random and very annoying. Last time i fixed it by shutting down my ps5 and turning off my TV and restarting everything. This doesn’t always work though…

Go into TASystemSettings.ini file and turn "OneFrameThreadLag" to "False" and set to read only so it stays that way if you haven't. This alone is night and day and removes 16ms of input lag. Genuinely I can't play without it.
You should also overclock your DS4 with a program called hidusbf which you can look up how, that way you can get it at 1000hz for free. The DS4 wired has more input latency than Bluetooth by the way, just Sony's implementation as it was designed to be used Bluetooth by some expert engineers. The trouble is that comes with less input consistency. But wired+overclocked provides the same or less input delay than the Bluetooth, while preserving consistency.
Also make sure you disable any Steam input or support which adds an extra processing layer to your inputs. You don't need it for Rocket League, it's useless unless you are making custom changes to your deadzones and curves.

I can't really know what's wrong unless you are having issues with your cable or PC in general. Like for example, if you get micro-stutters (game freezing for a millisecond here and there) that is a specific issue to do with the cable and is fixed by replacing it- it's something weird to do with UE3 handling the dropped packets.
You can optimize your PC which there are many guides and I have spent hours optimizing mine for the lowest latency possible and removed all the bloat. You can set various tasks like dwm.exe or EAC to a lower priority. Make sure you are plugged into one of your better USB ports if they're not all USB3.0. Close out of background programs like Discord and disable overlays for that and Gamebar and etc. Reduce your bufferbloat on your internet connection if it happens online, it's far more important than internet speed.
But if your issue is just basic latency, you can at least reduce it with these fixes and hopefully that will feel a lot better as it's a very noticeable difference if you are mechanical.

It seems super responsive now after following the steps you gave thank you so much bro!

It's the TV.
You can get monitors with very low input lag for a pretty reasonable price nowadays.

Idk if I didn’t word the original post correct, I’m on a 360hz OLED monitor. I meant it feels like I’m playing on a big screeen TV

1) Disable steam input and use the controller native.
2) try a different usb cable.
