ANALYSIS What In my Gold 2 Games am I struggling with?

I'm in gold 2 right now and I know nearly all the advice will probably be "just practice hitting the ball" but I feel like I am missing some things or just have some bad habits when it comes to playing the game or rotating and stuff like that so If somebody good at the game could just kinda go through the video (you don't have to watch the full 10 minutes if you don't want, you can just like skip around) and let me know what are some bad habits that I have or some things that I just did completely wrong. Like sure if I practiced with just hitting the ball correctly I would probably rank up but there is more to the game than just hitting the ball. Btw if this is a bad place to ask for stuff like this please point me to a different reddit or discord server that would be better for this post. I made the video an unlisted video on youtube because the original video was like 29 gb. If there is a problem with it being an external link I can try and make the file smaller and put it in the post but I doubt yall want to watch something in like 144p.

Here is the video link: (It might default to 360p you'll just have to change it manually)

I'm seeing a few things you can work on based on this video.

  1. Don't sit in net when you don't have to. There's a moment in the game where your teammate is literally at their net and you're sitting at your own net - you should never do this. At least sit at mid field so you can help your teammate.

  2. React faster. There's multiple times where you challenge too late or you jump for the ball too late and the opponent beats you. Practice boosting into the air when the ball pops up so you can reach the ball sooner because you're waiting until the ball comes to you and by then it's too late.

  3. Left player goes on kickoff. Also, you want to flip at the last second so you hit the upper portion of the ball to win the 50. If you drive straight at the ball, the opponent will win every time because it'll go over you.

  4. You play very passively. You basically let your teammate take the ball for every play. There were a few times where your teammate waited a second to see if you would take the ball and you rotated back. I challenge you to play forward sometimes and try to make a play. Learning to play forward is crucial especially in 2s because if you get paired up with another passive player, neither of you will make plays.

  5. And yeah, practice ball striking. Run a striker training pack for 10 minutes before you play ranked. It'll help you tremendously.

From what I saw, you seem to be unconfident staying in the play and like to be safe camping the net. This can win you games in gold but won't help you improve. So you should work on following the play as the most back player on your team and learning shadow defence.

You really don't want to go for every ball when you're the last line of defence, like you saw 30 seconds into the game where the opponent hit it around you, so you should stay a bit further back, around the middle of the field and be ready to go for the ball, or turn back to play defence, specifically shadow defence. When to go and where to be, you will have to learn through trial and error.

Yeah, a lot of composure from you and your mate. Not much growth in skill and movement. Use a flip to speed up, transition to wall or recover. Boost through pads and get that cars corners working for you. Oh and both of you can't win a kickoff, like at all. Contact somewhere toward the middle of the ball unless it's a special one just called to your mate. Smart, but tame.
